Horizon charged $89.00 for the service call and said I needed 2 parts. The parts would cost me $1105.00 with the $49.00 coupon.$1194.00 total. They did not have the parts on the truck and he call the wear house to get them delivered. Although it was only 4:30 pm he could not get an answer. This was on a Wednesday. He said they would call me on Thursday morning. They did not call me on Thursday or Friday so I called C&C on Friday. I told them what parts I needed and they said it would be $634.48 including the service call. They came on Monday and did the work. I called Horizon on Monday and they did refund the $89.00. Horizon was almost twice the price. That is price gouging to me. Takeing advantage of people when they need heat is not fair and I wiill not call them again. Always get a second opinion when dealing with Horizion.
Last summer, our a/c system stopped blowing cold air. It was 80 degrees in the house. I called Horizon and they came right out on a Sunday. They said we needed an entirely new system. The current system is 8 years old. They sent another guy out to sell us on the system and we said we'd think about it. In the meantime, they charged us $1100 to recharge the system. The charge lasted 10 minutes.
I was referred to another company, Blue Bell HVAC. When I told the guy what happened, he immediately went to the outside A/C unit and looked inside (which Horizon never did). Sure enough, he found a crimp in the piping which created a hole over time. So the gentleman replaced what he needed to at 9PM on a Sunday. Everything worked perfectly. He said there is nothing wrong with the system. Cost me $850, but its a lot less than what Horizon wanted to charge me for an entire system.
Came on a Saturday morning of the coldest weekend of the winter. It was a draft motor on our heater which left us with no heat. Said they would have the part on Monday and quoted $872.90. When I called Monday with -15 degree windchill they said i would have to wait till Tuesday afternoon. My husband called a Lennox part place. In less than an hour I picked up the part and my husband replaced it in 10 minutes for $177.00. Is Horizons rate $600 an hour? Really their prices are insane.
Very unhappy with service. Could not fix
problem. Called Sila Heating Service. Fixed
problem.
Suresh R.I'm a real customer. Got a new heating system recently. Although the prices are higher they do a good job.
Called Horizon on 1/23/15 to repair a leak under the sink. Sean a young Tech arrived put on his booties and proceed to the kitchen. He assessed what needed done. My wife had to leave the house so it was just my in-laws and he tech. Being that they were both elderly, Sean sprang into action writing up a quote to replace the leaky garbage disposal and the corroded pipes under the sink. He came back into the house and he proceeded to tell my mother in law that it would cost $1150 to fix the leak. She was floored at the price and refused service. Tech was clearly taking advantage. The tech immediately contacted his supervisor worked out another price of 700.00. Funny how the price can drop when they think a sale will be lost. My mother in-law still refused and just told them to bill here for the service call. Technician was disappointed that he could not close the deal. After all of the drama was over, I was able to stop by and take a look. I took a few pics and went to to AP plumbing distributor where I purchased a garbage disposal and replacement PVC pipes for less than 130.00!! What a joke. This is the same distributor that Horizon uses as well...It does not cost 1k to install a new disposal and the few pipes needed to correct the problem. Beware of this company. Don't get sucked in by the 18 million dollar advertising budget as they have to pay for it somehow.
Step up and refund the service fee as you caused more grief to innocent folks.
We had to call them out to fix our heating system again in October 2014. They had already ""fixed it"" in March 2014 ($1000). The technician told my husband that he did not have the part so he would come back when the part came in. Meanwhile, my husband looked up the part which costs $169. They estimated that their fix would cost $800-1000 or we could purchase a new system for $10,000. We decided to call another service company out to check our heater. When they came out and looked at our system, they were astonished that there was a cable on the system that by-passed our thermostat. Hence, why our system wasn't working. So we can only assume that the Horizon tech put this cable on the system so it did not work so we would have to purchase a new system. After the new company took the cable off, our system has worked without any problem since November. The new company also stated that this was a very dangerous thing to do - putting this cable on. Also, Horizon never charged us for the service call, when has that ever happened?? Very disappointed in this company that must be putting a lot of money into their marketing because of these horrible practices!
I found the salesman, Joe, rather nauseating. He was at my house three hours and 12 minutes, which is at least an hour 43 minutes too long. He kept talking about himself, mentioned how he eats his own salads, how he left a $4000 sectional at his last house and needs to buy furniture, the list goes on. Annoying. He should have been in and out.
When the thermostat was installed, there were several black fingerprints I had to clean off my wall. Then, there was a sign implanted in my front lawn; nobody asked if they could put their advertising on our grass. We live in an area where this is not allowed, and the consequence is a fine, which, if received, will be paid by Horizon.
Steven C.I have a gas leak in my basement. The pipe leading to my furnace also branches of to my stove. Horizon would not repair the pipe and would not help me in any way to restore heat to my home in freezing temperatures. This person was looking for a way out of a difficult job.
My gas was turned off after Peco found the leak and my family will be sleeping cold tonight.
Thanks Horizon.
Edit: One more thing, the first word on the truck is ""plumbing"" they are in no way close to being plumbers. This company preys on people in bad situations.
I am over 65 and live in an over 55 community.
My sump pump in the basement failed. I called and received a prompt sales call from Horizon.
I showed the salesman, whose name i will not divulge, the pump that failed. He did not check out anything! He quickly said that I needed a whole new main and backup system at a cost of $1,200 plus tax. I replied that i just needed one pump installed, not a whole system. He advised that it was a ""company"" policy he could not vary from. I escorted him out.
I called my old, retired plumber friend. We easily purchased identical replacement pumps for both the main and backup. (My friend said that pump failed too). Total cost for the two pumps: $255.00 plus $30.00 for a large wrench from Sears
Lessons to learn:
Older folks may be taken advantage of.
Enlist friends to help you DIY.
Exact plumbing parts are not difficult to obtain.
I've been told that local, small business plumbers are less costly that the big ones.
Get three estimates if you decide to pay a plumber.
