Recommended Customer Reviews
I love this company and have been using them since they installed my HVAC system a number of years ago. We are also Preferred Partner members. So why a 3 star review?
On August 18th, I scheduled my winter service check up. It was set for 10/17/22. I got the emails and texts confirming the appointment even as late as the evening of 10/16. The morning of 10/17, after taking off from work to meet the technician, I got a call saying I need to reschedule my appt since there are many customers who have no service and they take priority. They rescheduled my check up for 12/1! I asked them if they knew about the backlog for so long, why didn't they let me know earlier...or did it just happen overnight?
Hope they earn a 5 star review from me again like I usually give them, after my Dec 1 check up. Hope they don't 'forget' my appointment.
Horizon installed our heating and air conditioning system 5 years ago. I paid top dollar for it at the time, basically rushed in to having it installed the next day. I scheduled a service for the furnace approximately 2 weeks ago for today. I received a text message confirming the appointment with a window of 8am to 12pm. At 12:11 I called them because no one has shown up or called, texted etc. Per their website if they are late your service is free. The representative claims they called yesterday to reschedule it. I have no text or voicemail from them. The earliest they can reschedule me is early January. That is totally unacceptable and I told them that. I am beyond frustrated with them!
Tony M.Horizon was a great choice for our plumbing needs. They were able to send a technician within hours of our phone call and at a surprisingly affordable rate. In our desperate position, we were treated fairly by the company.
Cody did an excellent job and represented himself and horizon with great dignity and workmanship. We called on a Friday night for a slow drain in the kitchen which he was able to fix. He was educational, polite and cleaned up the area very well when finished. Cody definitely set a high standard for the trade and has great potential.
I would not recommend this company for service on oil fired heater/boiler. My oil heater needed cleaning, the service man came out and within 5 minutes he said it would be $2100 to clean out. Way overpriced!
After spending over $1000 to repair our AC unit, it still isn't working. They came back out twice, made promises, then ghosted me. I also discovered they tacked on all sorts of extra charges for some membership program and other things that were not discussed with me before i paid. The technicians acted professional while they were here, but clearly they were over their head with our AC problem and took our money rather than acknowledge they couldn't fix it.
Jeff H.$900 for diagnosis of 2 systems and replaced 2 filters a switch a drain pan and sold us service for next year
3 hours and way expensive
Christine B.Our AC unit was not working, sent out worker-immediately had issues with the fact that our unit uses freon. Replaced capacitor, charged us $633 for service call and part/installation (looked a comps online...much lower.) Then proceeded to tell us our unit was overfilled with freon and he would remove some as it was overstressing our AC unit....at a cost of $485 to us. We have never had freon added to our unit, and it is old. We declined. A week later, unit broke again. Checked our receipt....they charged us an additonal $58 for a 'priority partner plan plus' which I never was informed of. Would NEVER do business with this company again. Money grab.
Have to agree with a lot of the reviewers. Had my unit put in on 4th of July 2021. After several call backs to get it installed correctly finally had the yearly service to check everything out. Paid to replace filter which I expected BUT then 3 weeks later a light comes on that says change pad. So now I am paying for the service call, plus their gas surcharge plus the pad. Again, I can expect to pay for the a filter or pad, but shouldn't the technician have checked everything thoroughly so I wouldn't be calling them again. I guess they need to make money so they don't inspect everything at one time. Good note - the technician are pleasant. ?
spent $11000 having Horizon replacing our air conditioning unit and it didn't even work for 24 hours! they sent out a tech to look at and he said there was nothing wrong with It, the temperature in the house was 92, he said it mysterio must have fixed itself. not the answer you want to hear after spending $11000, I am sure I will have problems in the future things don't jus t fix themselves!
My old central unit just went. I had used Horizon for many years for AC and Heating tune-ups. They replaced a capacitor twice over the last several years. Charged me $445 last time. I know they mark-up parts but this is ridiculous. The capacitor cost around $28. They already charge $59 for the tune-up which is fine. I know they aren't making any money on that considering what they pay their techs, transportation and running a business. Let's say they value a tech at a $100-$150 an hour. It takes about 2 minutes to unscrew the housing where the capacitor is. Another couple of minutes to check the capacitor with a meter and observe it's condition. At best even with a part mark-up this job is around $250. The labor is negligible. Replacing a capacitor is the easiest job an HVAC tech does.
Horizon isn't all bad. They show up when they promise. They answer the phone quickly. The issue with them is their profit margin is ridiculous. I'm not against a business to make money but what you are paying for Horizon's advertising budget which is enormous. I told some locally owned and operated what I paid for the capacitor job and their jaw dropped. I had the capacitors replaced both times because they were failing. It's preventive maintenance because when your unit breaks down you end up paying for a hotel room which I'm doing now because my bedroom is too hot to sleep in.
I had Horizon replace my garbage disposal. It was $600. Again that is easily double what anyone else charges. Why did I do it. I couldn't run my dishwasher or clean my dishes and the other appliance repair companies earliest appointment was over a week away. Horizon came out the next day. You are paying for fast service but it is exorbitant.
They are a great company if you are wealthy and price is no object. Just tell me in what universe a capacitor retails for $495. Google Trane, Lennox or any of the top of line companies and show me where the part is $495. It's $27.35 at Amazon.
