So far, our experience with Honest Plumbing & Rooter, Inc. (HP&R) has been pleasant. They were available late Saturday afternoon and did their very best to diagnose the problem quickly. Our home is old therefore the plumbing is old too. The beginning quote was for a basic job, however, we had been warned previously about the problem being more severe. HP&R concluded the same prognosis, that indeed the problem was severe. Ben, the owner, who I spoke with once by phone was sincere about working with our very, very small budget. The workers were polite and honest. In a perfect world, all home repairs would be done pro bono, unfortunately, one never knows what will be found under the surface and well, businesses do not operate for free. I recommend HP&R because the workers were polite, they showed up in a timely manner, and they will work with your budget.

I have used Honest Plumbing a couple of times, and they did the job. I was very happy with the work too. Its always good to be able to contact a service, and know they will be able to fix the problem, Honest is that way. I would recommend them for your plumbing needs.

We have a 70-year old house and the problems that come with it. Restoration hasn't been happening as fast as we would like it, but bit by bit we're doing what we can. That being said, we've been working with Ben and his wife Deana for years and wouldn't consider calling anyone else for our plumbing needs.

The time came when we had to replace everything plumbing-wise under the house to the street. Yes, it cost us thousands and was done in increments, but Ben, Deana and their crew made the ouch of the whole thing hurt much less. They treated us like family and understanding our situation, gave us the best possible estimate considering.

I've been reading some of the negative experiences some have encountered with them and it's a shame, really. It's been a few years since we've needed a plumber, but of course our bathroom sink was miserably clogged (in the trap, nothing to do with the work they previously did). Ben and his assistant came right over, gave me a big hug, fixed the problem for us and didn't charge us a cent.

I debated whether or not to share the last part as it's not fair to expect anyone to work for free, but included to show you what kind of guy he is. When we first went to Honest years ago and realized the magnitude of our 70-year old house issues, Ben's philosophy was it's better to do someone good the first time around and have friends and customers for life, than the opposite.

I wasn't asked to do this, just want to balance some of the negativity I'm seeing. Trust me, my husband and I have had our share of BAD contractors and home repair experiences (I joined Angie's List and the first person we hired was a BAD electrician, cancelled that service!), it's been actually refreshing to know Ben and company are there for us... Perhaps folks should also take into consideration the customers THEY have to deal with!

Honest Plumbing has been really wonderful. I have a rental property in Burbank that I was having major plumbing issues at. When I called Honest Plumbing the owner Ben came out and met me at the property with his workers. They gave me a fair price to replace the sewer line and got to work right away. They were highly professional and did a great job, I haven't had any problems since. I was really shocked by some of these negative reviews on here. I also was really offended by some of the reviews that said that the crew looked like gang members! These guys were all hard working and looked like plumbers. Maybe some people are just racist I don't know. I would recommend Honest Plumbing to anyone who wants a professional and well done job for their plumbing problems.

Great business. Great people. Family-owned business that true cares about their work & customers. They believe in quality and are hands-on in delivering excellence. Honest Plumbing is the kind of business that should be sought out by those who appreciate professionalism with personality! It's clear to see that this service cares for it's customers. I see it being around for a very long time! I'm happy to refer then to anyone needing their services for years to come...

I had originally posted an honest detailed review on how horrible my experience was with Dis Honest plumbing, but I was bullied into taking it down. All I can say is calling them was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made! Be careful!

They did not show up to a job this morning and then when called about it, the husband/owner rudely told me that he couldn't even fix my problem. When I informed him that the lady I spoke with yesterday told me they could fix it, he stated, ""Well, I never said that, it was my wife"".

Save yourself the time and go with a company that is reliable with good customer service.

EDIT: THIS BUSINESS IS CURRENTLY THREATENING TO SUE ME AND MY FAMILY IF I DON'T REMOVE THIS NEGATIVE POST. His attorney contacted me via registered mail threatening a law suit if I don't remove the posting within 10 days. Suing your dissatisfied customers?? Really? Good luck running your business this way buddy. Word gets around whether you like it or not. It's not a surprise that I'm not the only 1 star review on here. You can't sue all of us, but I wonder how many more have been taken down?

Written 4/16/14, edited 5/21/14: ""This guy had me start the job based on a good, low bid and proceeded to raise the price after my portion of the work was underway. This just happened 5 minutes ago so this is my clearest recollection of events.

He originally quoted me $6500 to replace the water main. We worked out a price for a new copper water main at $3500 if I dug the trenches. He then told me that if I wanted to pay with a credit card he would need to charge me an extra 1-3% possibly if my card was a certain type of rewards card. Then, he told me, after looking at the card, that he would need to charge an extra 6%. So I play along and agree to the 6% because I had no other payment method and I thought the price would stick there. At that point, I went and dug the trenches. When I asked about the permitting process he told me that would cost an extra $200/hour for his time with city plus whatever the permits cost. ""I don't mind paying an added cost directly to the city for permits, but $200/hour is very high for your time"", I said and he replied, ""Well, that is our rate for the install and all the work we do"". I said, ""Wait, you quoted me $3500 for the job + 6% for CC payment."" He said, ""No, I told you $3500-3900 and I will, of course, have to charge by the hour for our work."" This was the FIRST I'D HEARD OF THIS PRICING MODEL OR THE FIGURE $3900. I replied, ""I feel like you are trying to drive the price up now that I have a trench in my front yard and leave the door open to raise the price even more during the job. You and I agreed on a price and I have no problem walking away if you are going to continue to increase it."" He said, ""Ok you know what? We're good. We're not going to do the job."" We both said goodbye and hung up. This is what I get for trusting this guy enough (because he'd done work for us in the past) to let him bid a big job without having it in writing.

WALK AWAY!!!! THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLUMBERS IN BURBANK/GLENDALE. They don't deserve your business.""

BEWARE!! Do not use!!
Worst experience ever. I had to have my entire sewer line replaced and the bill was $10,000. I told Ben straight up I did not have that kind of money laying around, but I was stuck, the line had to be replaced. He said he would work with me. I was able to pay him some money as the job was going on. When the job was complete, I got a call the very next day, ""where is my money."" What?? He knew it was going to take some time to get the money together and he suggested borrowing from friends and family! The calls kept coming every other day it seemed. I told him I was begging, borrowing and practically stealing to get him paid. Then the wife gets on the phone. She was extremely threatening, she tried to tell me that no one accepts payments. Are you kidding me??? He follows up with more calls that get more and more ominous in tone. I really felt like they were one step away from sending thugs to my door. DO NOT USE!!!

This was the worst call of my life! Do not be suckered in by the name! They charged me almost $6,000 for a main line re-pipe, and then missed the connection for my laundry room and bathroom (this mistake cost me all of my family room carpeting and drywall when black water from the bathroom flooded back in my washing machine drain! Then the owner charged me to fix his mistake and broke my washing machine when one of his techs threw a tool on top of it while at work (which took many calls to get repaired, over a month later)! I had another very reputable plumber (wish I could give them a shout out here!) look at my invoice for the re-pipe and he said I was ""grossly overcharged"". There's honestly nothing honest about Ben and Honest Plumbing. His wife runs the office and she is also rude and terribly unprofessional! You will thank me if you go elsewhere!
