The 4 rather than 5 star review is due to cost which was above my expectations but does reflect the quality and experience of their technical staff. If you are not very technically savvy like me, this service was worth paying for. It was easy to schedule an appointment via phone.

I'm apparently in the wrong profession! For those of you considering college, stop. Become an electrician or plumber because in and around Belmont, you can charge the rates of top Boston lawyers as an electrician!
I never write negative reviews because I know how hard it can be to run a small business, but this is just too much.
I installed a Nest thermostat myself and for some reason, it was cycling the heater on and off frequently. After doing diagnosis with Nest Suport, they concluded that it was because I didn't have a common wire. They recommended a local electrician - HO Electric (Homewiz). I thought these were the local partners of Nest so I called and they came by (turns out, they aren't a Nest partner). They charge a $50 dispatch fee and $462 Level 2 diagnostic fee (dispatch fee waived if you do that diagnostic). Based on the diagnosis, I decided to go with a common wire replacement. Material cost probably $5 for the line. Service charge: a whopping $420! So, nearly $900 for about an hour of work with negligible material cost. That's literally what top-tier Boston lawyers charge.
A few weeks later, I noticed the cycling of the heater again. I called Homewiz. The person I spoke with asked me who did the original install of the Nest. I said I did. He quickly concluded that I probably broke the backplate during the install. Nice of him to jump to such a conclusion! In the end, he agreed to send someone out again.
The technician came by and we spent most of the time arguing over whether I had power to the thermostat when he had come out the first time!
The other negative reviews are correct. I will NEVER recommend HomeWiz to anyone. Note that the top ranked 5-star review was written by someone in Washington State! We're in Massachusetts.

I reached out to HomeWiz for a quote and i was able to get an appointment right away. Dan and Howard came in and took care of it in about an hour. The price was great and they did a great job. I didnt have an electrician i could rely on before, but i do now.

You get what you pay for! Sure there may be other competitiors out there with lower cost, but be rest assured that their detailed analysis will put your mind at ease.
I have used HomeWiz for a variety of services for several years now. Their plans are right online and easy to choose from. The technicians are friendly and thorough and clearly communicate which services may need more immediate attention than others. Overall, I would highly recommend them!

Elaine E.This company is for people who want a long term fix not just putting a band aid on their problem. Replacing hvacs and heaters are like 10k plus if you are fixing it for $500 you are putting a bandaid on your problem and just putting off the big expense. They warranty for a year and have a great warranty for new installs of 5 years and have acted on goodwill for their loyal clients in other instances!

Let me respond to your comment. Firstly, I can't believe you are still in business. Ripping people off must be quite profitable. Your comment is full of lies and fabrications. Our system is 7 years old because that's how old our NEW CONSTRUCTION is. Saying that it is 20 years old is just a blatant lie. My mother, who speaks perfect English and is nowhere near 75 years old, was bullied and harassed and voice-recorded without her consent. My wife was also voice recorded without her consent. I have several recordings from the Attorney General's office to prove it. We spoke with your customer service on a 'recorded line' several times and we could have those records subpoenaed if you keep of harassing us with your comment. I also wrote a message through your Facebook page. Just on voice recordings alone, you and your father have clearly committed a felony. If I were your attorney, I would suggest for you to cease and desist and NEVER approach us in any way again, whether physically or virtually. Should you continue to harass us, and this is considered as continued harassment, I will pursue this in a legal manner.
