I called Homeserve to come out and fix a seeer backup issue. They sent out two companies to help with my backup. One was Young and Sons. This company was too small to do the job. The second one was Alexander And Sons which I thought was a better company. It wasn't any better. I am 2 weeks no without being able to use the restroom in my own house . I was told to go to the bathroom in bags and through it in the trash. I had to call my own plumbing company(Dupree Plumbing) 5 stars they came out and snaked 200 feet found that my pipe is about 300 feet plus and the issue was beyond that and needed a cut out put in. The next day they were out here to put in the cutout. I have yet to hear back from Alexander and Sons or Homeserve. Home serve may be good for small things but big one they are not.
PS I eve called Stafford County out and there response was quicker that Homeserve with both there companies combined and I had them out twice. This is not a responsible company when it comes to a health hazard as waist backing up in your house. Thank You Dupree Plumbing for being there no matter what the weather condition is. They are here and fixing my issue in 27 degree weather digging a hole by hand and fixing my Problem.

Total rip-off. We've had a contract with HomeServe for over 30 years. A technician came to our home for a routine yearly check-up. After changing the pilot, he completely shut down the system because soot was in the system (that they maintain every year) and CO2 level was high. No heat on the coldest day of the year. He said he couldn't fix it because it's a union issue and that we need to call a plumber. Are you kidding me? Why do we pay HomeServ? We've already called two plumbers on an emergency basis and they said the can't help. Talk about leaving a loyal customer hanging without heat.

poor customer service was very disappointed plumber that was hired was unprofessional and took advantage , never finished repair , Home Serve was not helpful and did not feel any responsibility for sending a plumber who didn't complete job or fix the problem . I have spent 9000 dollars out of pocket and problem still exists
only gave 1 star because there is no way to do zero

Terrible insurance company. They will find any excuse to not cover a claim. They don't even give you the courtesy of notifying you that a claim was denied. We had to find out through the company that came for our service call. I had to call back in for three straight days to speak to a supervisor. Due to their terrible coverage and customer service, I cancelled all of my coverage with HomeServe and will be cancelling the coverage I have for the two other homes that we own.

I had a boiler service contract for over 25 years.
I recently cancelled the the service contract with six months to the end of the contract. The yearly premium of $554 was paid . Home Serve refused to refund for the reminder of the contract, 6 months . if I would have paid the premium on a monthly basis the payments would end upon canceling, because I paid the premium yearly Home Serve will not give a refund.

I have several Home Serve contracts on other properties that I am considering canceling upon renewal

If I could leave zero stars I would. I have five plans with HomeServe and it's been a nightmare from the start two years ago. I've been charged early, dealt with rude customer service who basically didn't want to help with the early charge, now I call for a boiler tune up and I'm being told I should have called in August and won't be able to have it tuned up until after Christmas. It's 98 degrees in Aug. who is tuning up a boiler then?!? I'm told the ""the jobs fill up quickly"" They clearly don't have enough technicians, I was told this by the technician that services the boiler last year. So apparently although I'm paying quarterly for a service, I'm not able to actually have the service provided. What's the point?!? When you ask to speak to a manager, I'm told it will take 48 hours because they have scheduled meetings. Are you serious?!? Disgusting. Collect the money and leave people hanging, that's your idea of service?!? Canceling ASAP

We have a blocked sewer line, and have a HomeServe contract that covers this.
The first plumber company HomeServe sent said they need to do a camera inspection and would bring a snake upon their return.
I am later informed by HomeServe that that plumbing company does not have the proper equipment to do this job, and they will find another company who can.
Next day, another company is scheduled, and comes out to our home. They only brought a snake, no camera, since the camera wasn't on the work order. They did have a snake that could reach over 150 feet. The technician said he would be back in the morning with the camera.
HomeServe called me that their authorization for the camera work only applied for the first plumber, not the second. I explained that HomeServe sent the second plumber since the original plumber did not have the equipment - like talking to a wall!
This morning I called the second plumber, and was told HomeServe did not authorize them to do the camera work! I called HomeServe and was told this second plumber did not have a long enough cable to do the job. I explained that they did, but HomeServe insisted they did not, and their escalation team would find a company that could.
I called the second plumbing company, told them what HomeServe said. This company insisted they have the extra long cable and camera equipment, told HomeServe they had it, but we're unable to get their authorization.
I am still in limbo, totally frustrated, and inconvenienced by not having a functioning sewer line.
Terrible service from HomeServe

Awful customer service and such a scam. We had over $10,000 of claims and they only covered $500.

I called when my sewer backed up and flooded our basement. They said they would send someone out in two days. That was August 24. A plumber finally arrived on September 7. The basement flooded each time it rained while we waited. The plumber was not equipped with a camera to check the sewer line and said Homeserve would need to send someone else out. I called homeserve immediately after the plumber left and was told they would not send anyone else out because my basement was dry right now (it's not raining), that my basement had to be flooded before they could send someone out because the plumber would need the flood to investigate the sewer line problem. And that was all they would do for me... absolutely nothing. When I asked to talk to a manager, I was told I could pay for someone to come and camera my sewer line and prove to homeserve that they should send someone out. I have been paying for this insurance for two or more years. I could have saved that money and used it now.
