Home serve is not worth a dime. Paid for years. Sewer line needed replacement. They denied claim. We paid $11,000 out of pocket. After weeks of fighting they decided to reimburse $2,000 even though contract says they pay up to $10,000. Save your cash.
I began paying for a sewer-line warranty when I bought my house 5 years ago knowing the sewer line was 65+ years old and made of clay. When it inevitably broke, I called two independent companies to get bids, and I called HomeServe. The first two companies ran a scope down the sewer line, confirmed it was broken, and offered to fix it for ~$5,500. HomeServe sent out a tech who didn't even scope the sewer line, but claimed it was operating fine. Now I'm paying $5,500 for something that was under ""warranty."" If a sewer-line warranty doesn't cover a broken sewer line, it's not a warranty. It's a scam.
Geoff B.Was told that the water leak in our house was covered by their customer rep in our policy after explaining what the water department told me-days later plumber shows up and said it was not....it would have been professional to be told up front.
This company has their sale representative saying one thing to get you to sign on and when you do have a problem they send out their company service who will then inform you, that what you think you are cover for is not. I chose two plan with this company:
(1) Interior plumbing and Drainage system coverage
(2) PremierHeat PLUS; for my elder mother's home.
This winter due to the bad snowy days, she got the pipe that lead to the boiler start to leak. I called to have them check on it and was told she is not covered by neither plan.
I remember spoke to the sale rep for this company and said, ""So This mean she will be cover to for all her heating, plumbing problem should she had any?"" and the representative told me, ""yes""
NOW THIS IS CALLED, ""BAIT & SWITCH""
this company make money both ways, they has their sale representative, sell you a plan so their service company will make money by saying, that you are not cover, then they quote a price for $900 or more for repair. This way they make money both ways.
I advice anyone who to get into contract with this company be aware of the ""Bait and Switch.""
Upon buying a new home, our inspector suggested we call homeserve to take over the existing homeowner's contract. Once we moved in, we called to do just that, and the agent acted horrified and said she could not reveal information about the previous homeowner. ??? I explained I have no interest in getting any information, I just want to continue the existing contract and potentially add coverage. She continued to be condescending, adding ""right?"" to every sentence, as if she was educating me continually. Needless to say I went with another company immediately.
It is bizarre and inexcusable to act this way towards new business, especially in these times. Reading the other reviews, I think we made the right decision!
UGI sub contracts to Home Serve USA to do gas furnace maintenance/winterizing, so I scheduled those services on Friday 1/15. I have a chest freezer near the furnace, where the electrical outlets are. I went to the basement with the Tech to show him which outlet to use. When I went to get a loaf of bread out of the freezer, on 1/24 I was horrified to see the cord thrown to the side on the basement floor. I lost over $ 350.00 worth of food and it smelled horrible! When I called UGI to complain they told me a supervisor from Homeserve would call Monday. He was very rude on the phone and told me the tech said the freezer was unpluggedvwheb he got there, which is a blatant lie. BUYER BE WARE!! Never use UGI ZTO CLEAN/CHECK YOUR FURNACE!! They are despicable people, and very very dishonest!
Waited for a whole month to get check up for the heater system. They canceled by the email 3days before the date for check up..Definitely not recommended to do business with the company.
They did not delay the money I have paid for month after month.
Aja J.I have never been one to buy things like extended warranties or extra protection on goods. BUT, if there's one thing I want to protect a little more, it's my home. Homeserve does just that. I've had this service for a few years through my utility company, and have never been disappointed. Even if/when I've had an issue with a particular service provider, Homeserve has always managed to make it right. Their customer service is truly second-to-none. Exceptionally positive attitudes all around and no long wait times for an agent. So far, I've used the HVAC and interior plumbing services, and hope to never have to use the others, but it gives me tremendous piece of mind to have them. If you've ever thought about buying that line protection you've been thinking about, buy it from Homeserve.
Jim T.I enrolled in Homeserve for just about all the services they offer. What a mistake. When my air conditioner quit I called them and they never got anyone to fix my AC. So after going through a week of heat I called a company on my own who fixed my AC at the cost of $800. Then Homeserve said they would reimburse me. Then they said just $88. Then nothing. So I quit paying my monthly charges to them. I strongly say don't sign up with Homeserve because they don't do what they say they will do
Phillip A.I have had to call for a heater tuneup 9 times since October 12, 2020. I was given a service appointment for November 5, 2020. No one showed up or called. I have now been given an appointment now for January 8, 2021. Keep in mind that HomeServe has not given my heater a tuneup during 2020. The excuse that I was given was that there were people without heat even though the outside temperature has been 75 degrees. I have always found that the technicians have been exceptional but the scheduling leaves much to be desired.
