Joined the service plan as the price was right. First call the tech didn't even turn the heating system prior to working on it just replaced a heat maker ignition gizmo, turned on the system and told me it was all working. I challenged him and told him i have no hot air at the vent 15"" from the 100,000 BTU unit. He told me it was working fine just needed time to warm up (he measured 82 degrees inside the vent with his probe. The boiler continued to short cycle and very little heat on the return pipe. The house went up 1 degree F after 1 hour of running continuously.
The second call was no better ( I had even told them my thoughts on the problem). The tech wrote a long report mentioning how the system was way to big for the application and that I need to contract a mechanical company to re-configure the whole system. Funny the system had worked for 16 years just fine prior to the issue. Also I thought I was paying for service no an opinion. I was not around for this visit so my wife had to listen to this BS. I then called to talk to a supervisor who was to call me back within 3 days. This didn't happen so I called to cancel. I replaced the circulation pump $84 and I am back in business 4 degrees in 15 minutes from cold no short cycling.
Great Service! Our water heater died when our basement flooded. I called at 8:00pm and set up an appointment for the next afternoon. They called me back and came out within 15 minutes. The tech was great and fixed it in a few minutes. This is the second time we've called with an urgent issue and both times we received excellent service.
Frank M.I have used these guys twice and both times they did a great job. Easy to schedule. Today the tech was due between 8am and Noon. He arrived just before 8. This time there was actually no problem he could find and checked everything just to make sure. (I was being proactive on getting my heating pipes bled.) I am happy with these guys. Sorry to read poor reviews. I just didn't have any problems.
Absolutely the WORST. I waited on the phone for an entire hour just to book the appointment for a tuneup and for a repair to my AC. Phone staff is pleasant and tries to be helpful, however.
But I was told I would be receiving a call 15 minutes to 30 minutes prior to their arrival. I gave them my cell phone because I was running errands in my town 5 minutes from my house.. They called - and I could not get my phone out of my purse before they hung up leaving no message. Why would you not leave a message or a call back number?? That's ridiculous.
Then they did not show within 30 minutes nor within 2 hours.
I called HomeServe to see if they could get a dispatcher to call the repairman. At first they would not do it. They kept repeating I was within the 6 hour window. I tried to explain that since I had received the 30 minute warning call, I wanted to know if having not reached me and not leaving a message - did they give up and throw me out of the queue? That required too high a degree of thought for them. The phone rep was like a robot repeating over and over that it was a 6 hour window. I gave up and requested a supervisor. After speaking with a supervisor - the supervisor did call the dispatcher. He said the dispatcher said the repairman was on his way to my house and would be there shortly. That was two hours ago!!!!
I called again, got a pleasant enough rep who stayed calm even though I was getting upset. She got another dispatcher who said that the repairman was making another call and that I would be ""next"" - but there was no idea if that would be 30 minutes or two hours or the rest of the day. That's absurd.
I feel as if I am getting lip service.
So, bottom line if you want to destroy an entire morning or afternoon then stick with HomeServe. I'm sorry I paid so much for so little.
Russ W.Still getting no where with these people!!!!!! Here we are 10 days later and the heat is still not fixed!!!! The repair man just left my parents house and said there is nothing he can do and left them with no heat!!! Why bother having a service contract if they don't provide a service!!!!!! My next calls are to the local news stations to let them know how Homeserve does business and how they take advantage of the elderly then after that I will be contacting my attorney!!! STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM HOMESERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just don't expect that they will actually provide a tuneup anytime during the winter. We signed up in November and started trying to reach them. Finally got a tuneup date in late January. Rearranged calendar to be home and then they cancelled ""due to inclement weather in our region."" A complete crock. They rescheduled for March! After that tune-up (for which we've already paid our annual fee), we will return to the good care of our local company.
This company is as inadequate as they come, I had to call for a yearly cleaning. They have no problem making automatic withdrawals from my account however they cannot send out reminders to schedule cleanings. I called in October for a cleaning, the closest available date was December 24th...Christmas Eve. I took the appointment as I had no other options after several inquiries with the customer service representative for a sooner appointment. That appointment was canceled by HomeServe and rescheduled for December 29th...are you ready!!! That was canceled also and rescheduled for January 7th which is work day. That will not happen, this is totally unacceptable and a terrible business practice. In reading several other reviews I am not alone.
These guys are terrible. I had a tune-up scheduled between 8 - 12 and, like the other reviewers, the repairman never showed. I called HomeServe at noon to tell them I had an appointment at 12:30, and the woman said the repairman was on his way and would be there before 12:30. She asked if I could let him in, then head out for my 20 minute appointment. I agreed, but, of course, no one showed by 12:30. So, I was late for my meeting, missed a half day of work, and still never had the tune-up done.
DO NOT use HomeServe. Find a good, reputable, local company and save your sanity.
This has to be the WORST company to deal with. I dread having to deal with them and told them so. I scheduled my yearly burner tune up 09/17/13 and I was given the date of 11/01/13, the 8-12 time slot. They called me on 10/29 asking if I could take an earlier slot for 10/30, I had to refuse. I explained that I work full time and had already arranged for someone to be here at the house on 11/01. I asked the operator if I was still scheduled for the original day and was assured I was. Well tonight 10/31 at 4:39 pm, as I was food shopping, I was called to say they were very sorry but my 11/01 appointment was going to be cancelled. The next availability they had was for 12/26 and would that date be convenient. I stated that this was unsatisfactory and they would have to give me a sooner date than 12/26. My 80-year old dad lives with us so it is important to us that the heating system be in good working order. After being put on hold several, long times, I am still scheduled for 12/26. When I asked the operator why they waited until the last minute to call me he stated they left messages at my home number and on my cell. Both lies. The only call showing on my cell was the call I had answered; there was no message on my home answering machine (unless Hank the cat somehow managed to take and erase the message, as he was the only one home). I am contacting a local plumber in the morning - I am sure someone can be here BEFORE Santa. Do yourself a favor and go with a local company - I am sure they will appreciate your business. They were so much better when they were Boston Gas/KeySpan. They aren't even worthy of 1 star!
Wow...they are Ok once they arrive. they same nice service guys from, Boston Gas, KeySpan and National Grid. I live in the Boston area. The differance is the other providers had 150 trucks and employess for MA alone. Now Homeserve has 50 for MA & RI.They let most of the employess go. They show up when they want. Could be in the middle of the night, even thought you waited ALL Day for them.(they gave me 12:00 to 6:00 window, all other providers give a MUCH smaller window) They do not call, do not update you. No phone no email etc.. The employees are in a jam as they need the good jobs they have. They can fix the problem once they arrive, but they can not do the same service Nat Grid and KeySpan did. They only do small repairs that can be done easy. No install of water heaters etc.......They suck! The guy that showed up lived ~ 200 miles from my house. He just wanted to drive home ASAP. He did not want to do any extras to improve my system even if I paid for it. ( the Keyspan/Nat.Grid guys were local and would help your system run top notch) I have a contract on another property with another service company and they call you several times on the ETA of the service tech. The tech then calls when he is on the way. These tech's have mobile devises that are very powerful to maintain and post their schedules; HomeServe has NOTHING. When I called to complain ( I was very nice/ sticky sweet) they said Ok we see your concern/ sorry and then conected me to high pressure sales guy to sell me additional coverage( I had to hang up on the jerk!!). The company is run on a shoe string and it shows. They won't last long.
