Stay away! Guy came, nice guy. Not a plumber! Can not do very much if you are not a plumber
He said he knows how to get my heat working but he can't help because he is not a plumber! He drove away when my heat was still not working. So, I called to cancel the plan when the renewal came up. It is such a hassle I told them I was no longer living at that house so I do not need the boiler / heater service plan. Ok they will not renew. I was told . Today I see they billed me for $239 on my credit card on file. Had to start all over on the phone. They promised to reverse out the credit card charge in 7-9 days. It takes that long to reverse out a credit card charge? No!! ?? Stay away! Very shady company. Crooked! Very hard sell. Not a true service company that is looking out for the customer. They drove away while my heat was still not working. A true heating company never leaves if your heat is out. Almost sound immoral!
I chose WSSC-HomeServe plan for interior and exterior plumbing hoping that it will cover the entire plumbing system. However, on two occasions I called HomeServe for repair, one for the exterior water leakage and other for the interior water leakage. On both occasions, HomeServe sent Repair Company and on both occasions they found minor issues to deny the repairs. HomeServe's statements about the coverage are clear but HomeServe's interpretation is wrong and invariably against the customer's favor. After much discussion, I gave up and decided to get the repairs done on my own. At the same time I realized that the WSSC-HomeServe plans are not worth, unreliable and waste of money. I would not recommend anybody to sign up for any of the HomeServe plans. Since then I have discontinued the plans and strongly suggest the current members of the HomeServe plans to be aware of the limitations of their plans. I believe WSSC joined with HomeServe to make extra money by advertising for HomeServe, not a good business practice by a utility company. I wonder why Better Business Bureau gave higher rating when 73% reviews are negative while listing 295 customer complaints against HomeServe (https://www.bbb.org/connecticut/business-reviews/water-and-sewer-line-protection/homeserve-usa-corp-in-norwalk-ct-87067998). For further information on repair plans, I recommend the following article in the Consumer Reports of May 2012: ""Think Twice About Service-Line Repair Plans.""

BEWARE! In general, Homeserve USA is a great warranty to have on your plumbing system. However, among the contractors they use is a national franchise company McAtee Plumbing. BEWARE!!!! On 2 occasions, I've had McAtee taken off the job. To be fair, in both cases, Homeserve was very helpful and there was no problem w/us moving on to another plumbing contractor.
On Friday, my kitchen sink backed up. We called Homeserve. They had a service man on the way w/i 2 hrs. Though the appt was scheduled between 2-4 the contractor arrived @ 5:30 PM and left @ 8 w/o resolving the issue. He arrived w/o the basic equipment. No ladder, drain plugs, hose or pressure bag to evacuate the line. He used our tools and had my husband working as his assistant!? We are quite aware of how our plumbing lines are arranged, and we knew the blockage was w/i an 8 ft run from the kitchen sink, but the guy wouldn't listen and bumbled along w/o success, b/c he was working backward. When he left, he said he would be back Saturday, ""if the plumbing supply store was open and had a large snake"". Well, they were open but the plumber never showed. Instead, we received a call informing us that he'd be arriving on Monday between 6-8 PM! ENOUGH!
We called Homeserve, they canceled the service call and arranged another. Early Sunday morning, Liberty Plumbing arrived, they were fully equipped, professional and had the situation resolved w/i an hour.
Bottom line: I took a second chance w/McAtee, as the contractor they were sending was not the person they sent previously. However, the experience was a deja vue experience. The plumber didn't seem to know what he was doing. My house was trashed, water and dirt everywhere, and no resolution.
FYI: A customer can request a specific plumber as long as they are on Homeserve's approved list. If you are sent a good contractor, stick w/them. Customers can also decline a contractor.
Thank you Homeserve.

It may work if you have their contractor complete the work but if you have a contractor of your own who can do the job more reasonably you can submit a claim. Home Serve is exceedingly slow in reimbursements. Bill was submitted on April 26 and as of June 6 I still have not received payment. It seems possible that I will have to wait until mid-July for my money, if then.
Rob D.AC all tuned up and ready for summer. They also install ACs in case anyone needs one before summer hits. AC tech was friendly and pointed out how to keep the unit clean from leaves etc.
Shlomo K.They love replacing parts for uncovered items under the warranty, but they miss the small problems that can be easily fixed in the fist place!
Kalvin S.The good news is that they quickly responded the times when our sewage was backing up. The bad news is that when it comes time to do an expensive repair (i.e. replace a lateral) they are very resistant to paying for that kind of repair. When the plumber came out I told him that a previous plumber had mentioned that there were cracks in my lateral, and he should send a camera down the lateral to confirm. He was resistant to doing that because he said that having one backup per season is routine maintenance, and that if I had a 2nd backup then they would. Well, 4 months later I had another backup but the plumber forgot to bring his camera. He cleaned out everything nicely but when I called back to have the sewage scoped they said I had to wait until next time. Very frustrating!
pathetic !!!!!!!!! we have been without heat for 3 days now in below freezing temperatures, with 3 kids!!awful service!!
called and called again but no service, they say they are 24/7 , liars!! My fingers r freezing , can't even type
would not recommed to my enemies, leave alone friends
HomeServe USA's electrical contractor did such shoddy workmanship that our electrical entrance is in worse condition than before they repaired it. The electricians crimped the wires together on the entrance cable instead of properly installing the bolt and screw, making it possible for a strong wind to pull the wire apart. They did not put the entrance cable in conduit, leaving a gaping hole in the meter box, allowing it to fill with water. They did not ground the installation, causing me to get shocked when I plug in an appliance in the basement. They did the work on Sunday, not bothering to call the electric company to shut off the power; they failed to call an inspector after their work was completed after assuring us they would call one. I have been trying for a month to get this company to stand behind the work of their subcontractors, but no one will talk to me. Don't waste your money buying their service agreements.
Michael G.Excellent service, I called with no heat or hot water and was able to schedule a next day appointment. They showed up 2 hours early and replaced the brain of the heating system. This would have been a 500.00 repair. Well worth the piece of mind!! Highly reccomended.
