Igor is very responsive to Yelp messages, and we scheduled a free consultation the same week. The consultation didn't take very long, and the estimate was very competitive. His colleague Vladimir came out to clean and refinish our decks and wood patio furniture. He was on time, and the work was done well! We can finally enjoy our decks again, they look great!

From the moment I first contacted Vanguard Home Solutions, Igor was timely in his response, a clear communicator, and quick to get out to the house to provide us an estimate. He took his time inspecting our wooden stairs and landings, pointing out what should be addressed from a safety perspective. At no time did I feel like he was trying to oversell work that could be done. He was rather pragmatic about the work that needed to be done. In the end, his estimate worked within our budget, and we selected him to repair our stairs. I am very happy with Vanguard Home Solutions. They did high quality work at a reasonable cost. Their recommendation to refinish a deck saved me from doing a replacement that would have cost as much as 10x more.



We recently purchased a house with 3 decks that appeared to need replacement. The upper floor deck had a beam that went inside the house which had some dry rot. The wood on the other decks looked cracked and to my untrained eye it appeared that all decks needed to be replaced. I had estimates done from a few companies. Other than Vanguard Home Solutions, no one else questioned the need to replace the decks (obviously it is more profitable to replace than to refinish). Meanwhile, upon inspecting the decks, Igor from Vanguard Home Solutions stated that the decks can be sanded down and refinished with timber oil. Regarding the dry rot damage, he proposed reinforcing the existing beam instead of doing an intrusive and costly replacement. The quoted cost was very reasonable for the amount of work involved.



I was given a time window for when the work would be done. Later, Igor offered to start a little sooner, which was welcome. The work was performed quickly, with at least 2 people working at a time and was finished within a week. The resulting decks look very good. While there are slight signs of age on the wood, I think it only makes the decks look better. Throughout the process, Igor's communication was great. He also helped to fix some damage on the decks free of charge that had accidentally been caused by other contractors (not from Vanguard).



I will definitely contact Igor in the future for any work relating to decks.

We had our existing deck and wood planters refurbished, sanded and coated/re-conditioned. Igor was very professional from start to finish. He presented the scope of work, options and the process. He explained the process and the reasons for doing certain things which all made good sense. He was attentive and responsive to my wishes of what our goal was in the project. One of his crew members did the work, but Igor stayed involved through the entire process and made sure all was done as discussed. Vladimir was very punctual (as was Igor), pleasant, detail oriented and professional.

While it is one thing to yelp for reviews of restaurants, it is quite another to rely on Yelp for significant work on one's home.

In my case, it was to expand a 3'x3' area at top of backyard stairs into a small deck. So I called Vanguard which turned out to be Igor's company. He came out right away. He got the concept which required moving existing stairs below to make room for the new deck above. In the evening, Igor emailed a detailed and fair estimate. I accepted. Work went smoothly. Kudos to Michael, the lead worker. He is a real pro.
During the weeklong project, Igor came by to oversee work. At the end, it was Igor who chiseled wood frames to fit acrylic panels.

Now the Man Cave (aka my garage) has room outside. For timeouts during GSW games. For stretching and yoga poses. All with a clear view to the horizon and the ocean from Mt Davidson in San Francisco.

In hindsight, my first impressions of Igor proved to be correct. Someone to trust to do professional work in my home.

PS Since construction of the new deck was well above ground level, safety was a concern. The result was a well built deck, sturdy and strong.
