Karl K.We've used Holtmeier for years. No they are not the least expensive. But they have been unfailingly responsive, super nice, clean, responsible, and dependable. Service is worth it. It's a family business that has survived for decades in a world of ""the big guys."" I do not wonder why!
Surprisingly I had a great experience with Adam Holtmeier, one of the five family members running the company. Adam was professional, knowledgeable and a very experienced plumber. He installed a gas cooktop for us. I never ask a tradesman for an upfront quote when calling them. That is an unfair question if they haven't seen the problem
Call Holtmeier Plumbing to have a facet I purchased installed. The quoted me a price of $120/hr plus a $35 trip charge. I scheduled it. On the day of the install they call me and tell me now it's going to cost $350 to $450 to install the supplied facet, because they didn't make anything, profit wise, on the supplied facet. The guy was obsessed with making more money and screwing me for it. I told the person when I requested the install all the information upfront. Seems like such a small project to piss off a potential new customer about.
Overpriced, absolutely shabby work, would not stand by the initially quoted price by his staff. Charged $300 to just replace 1 outside faucet, labor only - since I had bought the part. Faucet started leaking and would not shut off. Called them back and he said there would be another $300 roughly to come out and fix it.
Will never use them again. Really disappointing and highly dissatisfied!
I awoke on Memorial Day weekend to find a leaking water pipe spewing in our basement near the water softener. I could identify the leak but not stop it so I had to shut off the water supply to our entire home. This was not well received by my family shall i say. Since it was a Sunday on a Holiday weekend I did not care to wait until Tuesday. I called the Holtmeier office and left a message for Adam. He called me back promptly and was at our house within 30 mins. Adam was careful to wear a mask and shoe covers then quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the pipe, soddered it and left everything spotless. Adam and Andy are extremely professional and they consistently exceed our expectations. They do it right the first time. You will be impressed!
Abigail P.I highly recommend Holtmeier Plumbing. I recently had an emergency plumbing issue and contacted Roto-Rooter. They were unable to properly diagnose the problem and gave me an outrageous amount estimate of what it would cost to ""maybe"" fix the problem. I asked some friends from whom I should get a second estimate and they recommended Holtmeier Plumbing. I contacted them and Andy was sent to my house. He fixed the entire issue quickly, and for significantly less than I was quoted from RotoRooter. I cannot say enough about Holtmeier Plumbing's professionalism and efficiency.
Mary C.Tom Holtmeier verbally quoted me at 425.00 for 3 hrs of work to replace a rusted outdoor spicket . A plumber spent 1.5 hrs at my house and I was later charged 485.00. When I inquired with Tom on this increase on the quote despite a shorter expected time on the job, he informed that he was charging ""port to port"" and that my travel time was longer because his plumber ran into an accident on 71. He charged me to for 2.75 hrs of work, despite a plumber spending 1.5 hrs at my home. My home is 20 min from the office. He then threatened to take me to a collection agency in the process of me trying to gain more clarity on his shady billing practices. My personal life lesson learned here is to always get a written quote. Consider this your warning.
Dr. James W.Outstanding and prompt service. For those who appreciate supporting local businesses, this business was prompt and appropriate in handling the situation. I had someone come by prior to ""fix"" the problem. It was a leaking shower drain. They Caulked it and called it a day. Holtmeier plumbing as a family business stands by their good name and I would recommend it to my friends and colleagues. You know they're the real deal because when you call they are booked out.
Claire R.Very rude owner - difficult to work with and overpriced. Others quoted the same job at 30% less.
Joe S.I just needed gaskets replaced on my bathtub faucet handles. The parts cost under 5 dollars for a regular faucet. Mine is old so it probably does cost more. I couldn't get the valve stem off and I didn't want to cause any damage by pulling too hard on stuff so I called a pro. I called them because they are literally a couple blocks from my house. They would not give me an estimate before the job. It felt like I was going to get screwed at this point, but I just went with it because I was busy, and I was at work. After the job they stuck me with a huge bill. He said he made decisions without calling me. I'm sure each decision cost me way more than it needed to. He blamed outdated parts but he had the parts in his truck. I should have done my homework and got other estimates but I was working, got lazy, and didn't have the time. Also, he said he doesn't guarantee work on my type of faucet and it is going to rattle now. It started off as a very small leak and I am not sure I am even in a better situation now than I was before.
Update: The faucet still drips (less than one week later), and there are open areas that were caulked leading behind the wall. It's official, I was robbed by Holtmeier Plumbing. Also, I finally got my itemized receipt: part of the bill was a service charge to drive 1/4 mile to my house to fix a problem I already explained in detail, I got some really nice expensive parts when all I wanted replaced was a rubber gasket, and I was charged well over a 100 dollars for less than an hour of labor....so **** me. No big deal, my wife and I will just work a couple extra days at our jobs to make up for this quick little robbery. We don't mind.
