OTHER contractor said I needed a brand new water heater because there was a leak even though I could not see any water in the tray - water heater was only 9 years old. HMS said all it needs is a thermocouple, ordered the part, and repaired the water heater for only a few hundred dollars. There was no leak.

I selected HMS Plumbing after receiving quotes from several other plumbers. HMS Plumbing never tried to upsell me on rebuilding or replacing a toilet although 1 of the 2 options was significantly cheaper.

I also like the fact from the 1st time I was exposed to this company they appeared very knowledgeable and brought up things to look out (for services they don't provide) in my home.

It is nice that they have 1 individual who answers all their calls and dispatches (schedules) the service. In other words, HMS Plumbing has a clear order of operations within the company.

The plumber was able to squeeze in my job although I changed my mind at the last min. with what I wanted done (ended up choosing the more expensive option because long term it turned out to be a better solution).

In a nutshell, I would not hesitate to use HMS Plumbing again.

My review is, in fact, toward the appropriate company; the employee providing the service was Wil. An Initial complaint concerning their service was disregarded, and continued contact with this company is both useless and profitless.

If only this company was as attentive toward customer service as they are to browsing Yelp, belittling customers, and deflecting responsibility, perhaps they could improve their reputation.

I would not recommend HMS Plumbing. We had a leak in our Condo Hot-Water heater closet, the Condo Association called HMS plumbing and they were told someone would be at our Condo between 1 and 3 the next day. The plumber (Will) did not arrive at the unit until almost 4pm, and prior to that he was outside helping jump-start someones car. We did not receive any notice he was running late. To make matters worse the plumber ended up breaking one of our patio tables trying to stand on it to get a better reach of the valves and all he said was sorry. He tightened a dripping value and said this may be the issue and to keep an eye on it. We received a bill from the Condo Association who had gotten the bill from HMS for $210 for a 15 minute job. and it turns out what the plumber did didn't even fix the issue, we had a different plumber come out that night and it turned out the hot water heater was leaking. Calling HMS on the phone they were less then sympathetic and kept rambling about how great their prices are. As it currently stands I would not use or recommend this company.

*Edit* Bill was never presented to wife with a price, and we have a picture of the bill with no price on it. Price was added after the fact.

I'm a remote landlord, so when I'm looking for a repair company I want them to be trustworthy. I saw HMS Plumbing in the Washingtonian Guide for contractors, and gave them a call. They quoted the repair price over the phone, showed up as scheduled, and sent me a reasonable repair bill, even though they had the authorization to do the more expensive replacement option. I'll use them again for sure.

Run away as fast as you can! This group of folks don't know what they're doing, then charge you for their incompetence. After two days of dealing with them, they installed a control box I didn't need, and I still didn't have any water to my home. They verbally agreed to refund me 72% of the bill, then didn't follow through. They even shirk their agreements!
