I had them come out to see about my dishwasher. They advised me that it would have cost more to repair and it would be better just to get a new one. They were very professional. They wore booties on their feet which I thought was an extra. They explained in detail what was going on with my dishwasher and we're very nice. I will do service again with them if I need it.

I had HL Bowman come out to do a routine AC tune up. Initially the technician seemed nice enough, however his behavior became extremely suspicious.
I'll add that my AC unit is quite old, however it has been functioning well and this was merely a tune up/ac check.
The technician was on my deck by the ac unit Freon lines when I stepped out on the deck to see how things were going. I clearly startled him and he sprung up stating that he was ""ALL DONE!"". Inside he stated that my ac unit was old and could go at any time, ""even tomorrow"", and worked hard to get me set up to purchase a new unit. After he left my residence, I noticed the 2 brass caps to the Freon access points sitting on the ground.
The following week, the ac completely stopped cooling.
It started to click with me that the HL Bowman tech had messed with my ac unit. I had UGI come out to inspect my system for leaks only to find that there were none. The system is old, but should be functioning well, however the system was VERY low on Freon. After some difficulty and $600, I was able to get the Freon recharged. The system has been functioning well since.
To summarize, I am confident that when I startled the HL Bowman technician that day as he was fiddling with the Freon lines, he was intentionally draining the system of Freon to try to get me to purchase a new ac unit.
I know that I will still need a new ac unit, however given the dishonest and illegal business practices of HL Bowman, I will definitely not be using their services ever again. I am considering reporting this to the EPA as intentionally releasing Freon into the atmosphere is not only detrimental to the ozone layer, but also illegal. In addition, I have been sharing with all friends and family my experience and my recommendation to avoid using HL Bowman.

I will never use these clowns again. Horrible! My boiler was left in worse shape than it was before when their inexperienced technician left. Not only did they try to steal $3500 from me for a repair - they disassembled my burner motor in ways it should never have been opened. And when the tech left- HE LEFT IT DISSASSEMBLED! Had another company come out for a second opinion- Control box was the main issue. Couple hundred bucks for that. PLUS 700 to replace the burner motor that was damaged. ""which was not even the main issue to begin with"" I have now found a permanent HVAC company to use and one that I will never use AGAIN! HL Bowman are crooks!

Heat pump running constantly. Called in the evening. Mike Hess responded to the call. I can't say enough about how thorough he was. He diagnosed the problem and everything is finally resolved. This was a new heat pump that was installed in August. I have made calls before about issues with it. But this time, it's running so much quieter.Thank you Mike Hess!!!

Nothing to do with their services, but their van almost just wound up in my passenger side door because the driver was having a temper tantrum texting and driving.
So there's that.

My gas furnace stopped working. I diagnosed the problem and called them to fix it. I told them it was a faulty pressure switched but they said they had to charge me $70 to send out a technician to diagnose the problem themselves. I had to go to work so my wife was home when they came. They told her my motor, blower, pressure switches, and igniter were all bad and needed to be replaced. They said it would be around 2k to repair it or 5k+ for a new unit which they recommended. I had another hvac guy come out the next morning and he told me everything worked fine it just needed a new pressure switch which only runs $100 and had it working in 30 minutes. So for a $100 part HL Bowman wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for a new furnace. Either their technician is completely incompetent or a complete crook. I contacted them and asked why they tried ripping me off and they told me they would refund my money for the visit. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still have not recieved my check. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They are liars and crooks! It is a shame that companies like this exist that try to scam people in a desperate situation. Hopefully this review can save others from getting scammed.

Called about a toilet leaking from its base. The tech came out on Friday and diagnosed the issue. He stated the toilet had to be removed so a flange could be installed. The charge was $899. We thought that was a fair price because it cost us $1500 to do another toilet. FYI. the first toilet need a additional work.
We agreed to do the repairs Monday morning @ 9:00 a.m. the repair took about 90 minutes. My wife was impressed with his skills and professionalism.
A minor (very) on Monday he arrived at 8:30 instead of at 9:00.

AVOID THIS COMPANY unless you want to pay $$$$$ for any work done. I was told by Rick in the office after I paid $1051.39 to replace a toilet seal, and possibly a toilet flange, that they charge a flat rate for all jobs. This is NOT what I was initially told by Natalie (?), the office person when I first scheduled the service. I was told to come out would be $70, and then given an estimate once the problem was assessed. The 1st estimate given by Matt Chubb was $391, when he had pulled the toilet and looked at the seal. He then poked through the seal, and said he might have to replace the flange, and gave me what I thought was an estimate for $500. I do not know whether or not he actually replaced the flange. He used the toilet seal I had purchased previously at Home Depot for $15. I was then also charged $59.50 for an MVP plan to guarantee the work, as long as I continued to pay on the plan. This, Matt Chubb also failed to inform me about. I only learned of it when was sent in an invoice by email. I asked from Rick in the office for an itemized statement after Matt Chubb left. This is when I learned that HL Bowman only charges flat rates for all jobs. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau for unethical business practices, failure to clearly verbally or in writing state all costs up front as to the exact work to be done, cost of parts and labor, which were not part of the estimates. The actual work took approximately 1 hour. Matt Chubb was supposed to take photos of his work, but failed to do so.

I had HL Bowman come out to tell me where an underground leak was in the water line coming into my house. The technician said he couldn't tell me where the leak was. He said I should replace the copper pipe with a plastic pipe because the limestone getting against the pipe was causing leaks. They gave me an estimate. My yard was supposed to only have a hole next to my house and out at the street where the pipe hooked in. They said they could pull a pipe underground and I wouldn't have to have my yard all dug up. They came out to do my job and the men that were supposed to do it told me immediately they wouldn't be able to pull the whole thing underground. So they dug a hole about a third of the way away from my house about 45 ft. They got that part pulled underground. After they started the job a man from the water company came out and said we couldn't put plastic pipe in. He said we had to put a meter pit out at the street. Apparently they never checked to see if we were allowed to use less pipe or not even though they said we were. Then they tried to pull the longer part about 90 ft. They could not do that so they said they had to dig the whole way across my yard. So they gave me a high price to do it underground. But couldn't do the job the way they said they would. Said I still had to pay the whole price even though they didn't do most of the job underground. And then said I owed $1,000 more for the meter pit that they never said anything about before the job started. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Tell you you can they can do the job. And then get out and can't do it the way they say they will but still charge you the full price. Plus add $1,000 to the price for something that they missed

HL Bowman is the best at padding their charges.
My kitchen faucet, a 6 year Moen pull out type, was leaking under the sink down into the cabinet. I was told I needed a new faucet. The "" technician "" didn't even check to see if all I may have needed was a new hose or a washer. He looked under the sink where it was leaking and made his diagnosis.
He then left my house to get a new faucet and told me he also picked up supplies for his next call while he was out.
When he returned to my house he installed a Moen faucet very close to what I had. I checked online and the faucet he installed cost $169.00 at our local Home Depot. Moen Brecklyn model 87557SRS.
I was charges $769.62 for this. I asked if they offered a senior citizen discount which the technician did not know so he called the office and they deducted $50.00. Bringing my total charges for a simple project to $719.62. This was not a complicated installation.
I emailed Joe at [email protected] requesting an itemized invoice with the charges broken out. He has not responded. Maybe I should consider contacting The Better Business Bureau.
