Company Overview

We provide remodeling services for homes and businesses, covering everything from simple repairs to full renovations. This encompasses painting both inside and outside, drywall installation and plastering, framing, trim, doors, and windows, tile and flooring, decks and fencing.

Our business is family-owned since we started in 2005. Our service area includes the Northwest side of Chicago, the Northwest Suburbs, and Southern Wisconsin.

We launched our business in 2005 focusing on the Chicago area. Over the years, we relocated to the Wauconda/Island Lake area and continue to serve the larger northwest suburbs of Chicago, including the northwest side of the city and southern Wisconsin. Our commitment is to providing quality service with integrity and honesty.

Richard Ballasch is the owner and operator of His Workmanship. With years of experience and training in the building and refinishing industry, he has honed his skills across various mediums and conditions.

Richard spent 7 years as an auto painter at a prestigious auto body shop in Chicago, where he was certified to paint luxury brands like Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and Volkswagen.

He subsequently shifted his refinishing talents to leather and wood. He was employed for 10 years at a premier leather refinishing company in Chicago. In that role, he oversaw the shop, performed service calls, delivered furniture, and trained staff in the art of high-end leather refinishing. His work has been featured in media, film, and print publications.

He chose to launch his own business in 2005 to utilize his expertise in remodeling.
