Personally had a bad experience. We had a toilet that would not function properly. I called Hilliard's and a very nice service person answered. I asked if they could replace the toilet with one I purchased and they said no, for warrantee purposes they would need to provide the toilet. If I gave them the model they could purchase and install it. So I provided them the model of the toilet (and confirmed it was in stock with a local hardware store), an American Standard Champion 4 model. They said they could have it installed within 8 working days; I called on a Tuesday and they said they could get it replaced by Friday of the following week. They could not tell me the date for service, but would call a day or two before coming. I called back the following Monday, to see if they had been able to set a day (I'd need to take time off work to be home) and was told they would need to check on the date and they would call me back. They did not call, so I called Tuesday morning (one week after the initial call when Hilliard's said they could do the work). I was then informed they would need to purchase a toilet from their source, not a retail toilet from a local hardware store (ie Ace/Lowes/Home Depot), and they would not be able to get the job done within the date they had given. As I had family coming to town for a long holiday and needed the toilet, I asked if they would be willing to fix the toilet, instead of replace it. The service representative on the phone said they would need to check and call me back. Again, no call back so I called late Wednesday morning. They said they may be able to schedule a time on Thursday or Friday to try to fix the toilet, but then the service representative proceeded to give a lecture on how they don't normally do repairs so quickly; it normally takes a few weeks to get service, and that I was cutting the line, and because I had more than one toilet in my home they may still not be able to get to my toilet for repair. At that point I reminded the service person it was their company, Hilliard's, that had said they could replace the toilet within the week - I was not jumping ahead in the line, I had provided the model as requested, I had already tried to scale back the level of service when told they would not purchase the model I desired or provide the service they had already committed to performing, and I was the one that was having to pull information from them on the repair - no one was calling me. While the tone of the phone calls were always respectable, the poor service, their inability to provide a product, the guilt they tried to pass onto me for asking them to provide service in the timeline they said they would, and the sheer frustration of the experience ultimately led me to terminate this contractor.

Have a maintenance plan for my AC and furnace. The AC should have been done last May. Did not happen until July, Got the bullshit about no one avalilable to do it. Getting tired of hearing this.

Now I got a bill int he mail for plumbing service that was never done. Now I have to call tomorrow to get this removed because someone fat fingered the wrong customer number in their system

The lady that answer phone call is a little bit rude and hurry every time. Their employees sometimes take so long to fix a little thing coz they don't have the right parts with them and need to go to store for parts. Muddy shoes on my carpet....
Also, always speeding in town and ignore stop signs

Hilliard's has been in town for years and they give consistently terrific service. They have repaired water heaters, gas furnaces and plumbing for me including dishwashers, kitchen sinks and resealing a toilet. They also make an big effort at customer service.

Every time they have come to my house, the Hilliard's staff member was professional, friendly, fast and fair. My most recent visit was for a furnace that would not light. The technician identified and fixed the issue quickly. He wore a mask and explained to me the problem in detail.

Highly recommended for quality, reliable work.

My AC was out and I read an article on common issues. One other company in town didn't have parts and weren't really helpful. Hilliard's was helpful over the phone and didn't discourage a DIYer. Took pictures of the 3 things I thought it was and they were really helpful in the diagnosis and selling me the ONLY part I needed. (I was going to buy all 3 just in case).

Took me 5 minutes to replace the part and only cost me $15 when they could have made more on me.

Honest businesses deserve patronage and these folks are real professionals

Dont ever use this company. The worst service I've ever had .The receptionist lied to me when i asked if they had ever done work at my house as i was going to use them for my service from then on. But they lost me as a local customer when the plumbers told me that they have been coming here for roots for a long time. I asked have you always worked for hillyards and the plumber replied yes. Now i suspect something stinks with operation of this company if they are flat out lying to there customers. ""2"" plumbers came out.i asked for a plumber ""1"" is sufficient .they charged me for two to do a 15 minute job (Racketeering at it's best) they could of informed me that they charge for 2 plumbers before they performed any services. First of all who does that.(use rotorooter)they ran a camera so i could find the issue and i needed a thumbdrive of it but there equipment is broken they said so theres an overcharged service for which wasn't fully recieved. I needed there help cause i was doing a big costly dig of the main line and they assured me to just call and they would be out. The time came and nothing, with excavater and tons of costly rental equipment they left me hanging. When i called they said let me see i will call you back. They never called back .at the end of the day they show up and say they cant help me and that they are emergency plumbers.$$$$ I have had it with them. The bill was not itemized and professional like roto rooter either.Im not one to write bad reviews but i feel people should be treated better than this. The better business bureau is now going to get a call.

I called Hilliards yesterday and they warned me that they were booked but put me on the list.
Six girls in a house with no hot water in the middle of winter is disastrous! Thought for sure we'd have to replace the water heater.
Great news! Hilliards came today, Galen (sp?) did some discovery replaced a heating element, then came back to check on it, still no hot water.
More discovery, deteriorated breaker- replaced, all good.
Any other company would probably have thrown in a new water heater to find it was not the problem and charged me a fortune! Happy to say Hilliards did a Great job!!
Very pleased, super honest and extremely responsive.

Hilliard's overcharges for labor...a lot! I needed one outside faucet replaced. I got a bill for 2 men working together, 3 hours, each, to do it. When I called to complain about my bill, the owner said the charge sounded excessive but was only willing to take off $80 dollars for the second man. I would be embarrassed to tell a customer my workers take 3 hours to change one faucet and it takes two of them working together to do it! Be wary of this company. They are a rip off!

I called Hilliard's after exhausting every tool I had to unclog a drain (draino, dismantling all the plumbing beneath the sink, running one of those drill-powered snakes). Chris came out the same day I called and spent about an hour clearing the line. Very professional and efficient, he kept my kitchen clean while he worked and he explained the various steps he was taking to figure out what was wrong and solve the problem. He patched up a few minor problems while the snake was working as well.

The head office, likewise, gave a quick response to my initial call. The secretary said she'd check if anyone had the time for a service call, and she called me back pretty quickly to set up a time when she found someone.

I don't plan to have any more plumbing problems in the future, but if I do, I'm calling here first.
