Stay away from these guys! They won't give you a quote even for the most basic things over the phone, they charge you 70 bucks for a service call and when they get to your place they quote you a crazy price! It's a scam.
The ads all say transparent and upfront pricing, I was told more than once that the quoted amount is all I would be required to pay, upon completion of the work to my HVAC unit the price I was charged was more than the quoted amount, the explanation was that another part was replaced even though the technician did not mention anything about replacing any other parts before doing the work. The ads also state that you do not pay the service fee if they do the job, guess what, wrong again, I had to pay the $69 service fee and then the repair fee even though the technician said the service fee would be deducted from the cost of the repair. I will never use this company again, and would not recommend them to anyone!!!!
We had just bought a house and asked Hiller to check system out. They suggested a tune up for $199.00 and that would include checking the system now (May) and rechecking system in the fall . The technician was very pleasant and spent a good amount of time checking the system out. He finished up and said he couldn't find any problems with it but that it was an older system and I should be fine for now. Less than four days later system stopped cooling. i called Hiller and a couple days later the same tech came to look at the system. Evaporator coil was frozen up. He said my coils could be impacted with drywall dust as I had been doing Sheet rock work. He also said it could be low on refrigerant and that R22 refrigerant is $100.00 / pound and is liquid gold. He initially said the second visit would be done as a courtesy but later said his manager said I should pay $69.00 as the problem was unrelated to their initial service. As I am familiar with HVAC systems I feel he did not do a thorough job doing the system tune up. He should have checked / cleaned evaporator coil and checked working pressures as well as superheat / subcool to verify adequate refrigerant charge. I'm very dissatisfied as they just want to sell me a new HVAC system. I spoke with head office in Nashville and was told they would pass this on. Two days after he came to recheck it , it was frozen up again. im very disappointed !!!
Hiller installed my new AC and did such an incredible job, with knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful staff, I decided then that I would return
Today, Jarrett came out to install a new water outlet to the refrigerator. Not only was Jarrett all of the things I just mentioned, he was incredibly helpful going way above and beyond in helping move and relocate our refrigerators. Jarrett, and all of the people who helped install our AC, are all people of the highest quality, and will be the reason the I keep returning to Hiller, and the same reason you should absolutely consider using them as well.
In this day and age of terrible customer service, enough cannot be said about solid customer service, like the service Hiller provides, and that level of service will keep me coming back.
Thank you all, at Hiller!
I will never call Hiller Plumbing again. I called to get a new water heater and they told me that not only did I need a new water heater, but I needed new pipes both the inside and the outside. Also, they said one of my pipes was frozen, but they wouldn't do anything about it. The project manager came and gave me an estimate of $9500 without looking for himself what the issues were. He just looked at a picture. Thank goodness my husband and I did not fall for this. We called another company and they fixed my water heater for half the price that Hiller quoted for just the water heater alone. When I asked the other company how my pipes were, they said that they were in great condition. Also, when we got my new water heater, my pipes had a miracle and suddenly unfroze!
We had a water leak in the ceiling of our garage late on a Friday afternoon. We were able to keep the water turned off until Monday which happened to be Martin Luther King Day. I wasn't even sure if they would be opened but I called anyway first thing. They were able to get me worked into the schedule and came out that morning. They located the leak without having to cut too big a hole in the ceiling and fixed the leak. The whole process from start to finish was very easy and the price was very reasonable which is very appreciated during this time of COVID. They have always treated us right and I will keep using them in the future.
I called Hiller because the heating in my 8 year old Carrier HVAC system was not working. Ivan Walsh, a technician came out, spent over 30 minutes in his van on the phone and laptop (I could see him). He then showed me a 'stock' photo of some unrecognizable rusted thing. When I asked him to show me on the actual unit, he did not take the panel off so I could see. He said he would have to cut the main trunk of my hedge off, (which would have destroyed my hedge) so he could work on the problem, supposedly having to put in a new inducer motor. My unit was still under warranty, and he would not give me a written quote, but said his labor would cost me $825.00.
Bells went off and I called one the oldest HVAC companies in Knoxville, Clancey & Reynolds. The guy came out that day. It turned out to be an adjustment on the inducer motor mounting, which took him all of 10 minutes. I now have heat and his labor was $38.
I think it's despicable how these large companies can try and screw you out of your hard earned money by telling you you need a whole new unit when only a simple adjustment is necessary, (and my hedge is still in tact). I would NEVER recommend Happy Hiller, no wonder they are called 'Happy', making unnecessary money they are scamming people out of. I don't know how some people can sleep at night.
My serviceman was Christopher Payne. Excellent service, diagnosed the problem quickly, knowledgeable, and friendly. Replaced my entire grinder pump in less than a few hours by himself. Also removed my old one. Very happy with my experience, would highly recommend!
Poor service is to high for the lousy job they did while ruining all electrical components in my 5th wheel travel trailer. On top of that they refuse to reimburse me for the damages. Never use this outfit
Hiller came to my house on Sunday, March 22, 2020. My air conditioning system wasn't putting out cool air. Due to Covid19, I was concerned about getting someone to come out to do a service call. I had already called a previously used company and they weren't taking calls. My window for service was originally 1:00-3:00. It kept getting pushed back. I told them it wasn't an emergency and they could come another day that week. The technician came at 9:00 pm and left at 1:00 am. He put 4 lbs of Freon (stated on my bill) at $199 each for a bill of $796. I know Freon is expensive. I have called and no one can tell me what type of Freon was used. I was told they may have used what was available. I felt caught between a rock and a hard place due to the situation. This is not a time to take advantage of customers. I will not use this company again for any reason.
