K.B. Hill founded Hill Plumbing Company in Sumter, SC, in 1925, starting with a $250 loan.

Today, Hill Plumbing Company is recognized as one of the largest plumbing contractors in South Carolina, nearly a century after its founding.

K.B. Hill began with a bicycle and a handful of tools, creating the company from nothing and even installing Sumter's first built-in tub.

He was passionate about his work and focused on grassroots efforts, fostering relationships and collaborating with the local community.

K.B. was committed to helping those in need, even supporting a disabled and terminally ill employee by keeping him on payroll until his passing.

After weathering the Great Depression, K.B. handed the reins to his son, Leverne Hill, in 1957.

Leverne expanded the company’s focus on commercial plumbing, broadening Hill Plumbing's reach across the state.

By prioritizing quality service at fair prices, Leverne gave clients and contractors strong incentives to choose Hill Plumbing Company.

Now, with over 90 years of experience and a workforce of more than sixty, Hill Plumbing aims to continue its proud legacy of fostering enduring relationships while actively participating in the community.

Trey Hill, Frank's son, has taken the helm of the service department, continuing the family tradition as a fourth-generation plumbing company.

Our commitment to providing honest and exceptional services has been the cornerstone of our reputation as the ""number 1 in the number 2 business.""

Hill Plumbing did a lot of work for us when we moved back into our 1951 farmhouse but when we had them come out and replace a water heater, one of their technicians Mikey, turned the shut of valve the wrong way and then used a wrench to try to turn it further and busted it. They came back 4 times to try to fix it with no success as it kept blowing out at the splice. After checking on our most recently scheduled appointment we were told that it would have to wait 1 more day to complete the repair (which up to that point was a patch job) and were told they give more attention to the folks in town. We called a company based out of Columbia and their tech (Brian) came out and installed 2 new valves, one for surge and one for on/off to the house and ran a new pipe to connect from the valve to the house instead of a piece meal patch. I will not request Hill plumbing to ever come back and do anything for our home after the thousands we've spent with them over the last year+. No more!!!!!!!! i will say that Aaron is the most respectful and responsible person that they have working for them and he did try to get it fixed so at the end of the day you have to blame the Management for their failures.

I will not use Hill Plumbing & Air in Sumter they don't value my business, I was a good customer I was going to recommend them to two of my friends because they wanted me to pay more money for my one year contract I ask the guy to put two filters in; one in my hallway, and living room they had done it before, which should have been part of maintenance. The guy whom they sent to my house was very nice and he tried to reason with someone at the company but they wouldn't listen to him. My contract is $239.00 a year, and they wanted to charge me more money to put two filters in my house, in the amount of $280.00 instead of $239.00 the original price of my contract which this is a """"rip"""" off. I have never put any filters in my house myself regardless, of who I had a contract with! I will never use Hill Plumbing & Air again after my contract expires; since they don't value me as a """"good customer!""""

They will send you a bill for much more than you owe and pretend it was a mistake in hopes people will just go along with it! You will have to coerce the plumber to actually do anything if it is in any way a tricky situation (which it probably is because you called a plumber!).

I called Hill Plumbing to come look at the plumbing of a house that had been vacant for a couple of years and needed the plumbing to be redone. They were quick to schedule an appointment and came to look at it at the time we agreed upon... so up until there everything was great. The plumber was nice and told me we needed to run a new water line and he would get in touch with me for an estimate. A week later I called their office asking for said estimate since I hadn't heard anything back yet. The lady at the front desk told me very nicely they were still waiting on the boss to look over it (mind you it's not a big house and we are talking about running a new waterline... shouldn't be that hard to figure out). I was understanding, sometimes people have so much stuff to do that an estimate is not a priority but I told her to please let me know because I needed this done asap. Today is the day I still haven't heard from them... it has been more than a month now!! Very unprofessional!

It's was late on a Friday night that I found a leak in one of the hot water lines in our laundry room behind the wall. Normally I would have just fixed it myself, but it was found after most stores had closed for the day and I had to be on a plan at 6am in the morning. I called hills pluming the next morning from the Atlanta airport during a layover. I spoke to the answering service as it was Saturday with all the issues. The on call tech called me back within a few min. I explain the situation and he stated he would be right over. I had my adult daughter come over to the house to wait. He showed up, Was very nice to deal with according to her. After completing the service he made sure the hot water tank was turned back on. Took care of the bill and left. I could not have been happier and will definitely use them in the future may a need arrive. All in all great job.

Woke up at 7am to no hot water; called Hill Plumbing at 9am, by noon they were at the house, accessed the problem. Did rebuild, replaced both elements and thermostat in less than an hour. 4-stars. Would have been 5-stars, but after three-hours still no hot water. Called Hill back at 5pm, and within an hour the on-call technician came to evaluate the issue... it seems the first technician miss wired two of the wires on the thermostat; simple mistake, they corrected it and started to have hot water in about a hour. Overall, great job, fair price, good work ethics, very professional, and showed up to work at the time we agreed on. Would recommend.

Terrible customer service and follow through when trying to reach someone. Hidden fees/charges. Ask for specific fees prior to them doing any work. They will charge you bulk fees when you ask them to replace a simple flap on your toilet. Charges $55.00 for replacing a simple rubber flap in bottom of toilet. Charges another $55.00 for replacing toilet kit in the back of toilet. On top of the fees associated with the initial call. Never discussed the pricing on any of the repairs. Learn from my mistake. They don't do itemized bills either. Never again.

First day I dealt with them I had an emergency situation and they came out right away with a temporary fix. Guys were great, everything smooth. They told me to make a follow up appointment for my permanent fix and I did. Receptionist says they can only make appointments on weekdays at 0830. Hard with my schedule but I take it. I took a day off work for this and they call me five minutes before my appointment saying all their guys are sick. I doubt it but okay, I rescheduled and call off another day of work. The scheduled day comes and again five minutes before, the receptionist says two of their guys quit and their 2 other guys have very big projects out of town. Like okay thank you for telling me a you problem and making it known I'm not a priority even though I've been trying with you for two weeks to make this work. How a whole business doesn't respect my time is beyond me.

I used this company a couple months ago to relocate water lines in a bathroom I was remodeling. They were recommended by Home Advisor and did good work. It did take a day and a half to get back to me at that time but I wrote that off to dealing through a third party. I needed some repair work on a water heater so I called them directly last Thursday at 8:05 am. I was told someone from the Florence crew would call me to make an appointment. It is now 4:25 pm on Tuesday and still no call. They do good work but Don""""t be in a hurry. Lucky it was not an emergency. I have had another company do the repair.

They are quick to do an estimate, which they charge for. Slow on getting the appointment for work. Subpar work and they will not fix dry wall damage. They will honor their quote even when their ineptitude has them here for a day and a half for a job that should take 3 hours. At least they didn't charge me for the extra time.
