I've used Hicks Plumbing Svcs twice now. Both times outstanding service, I highly recommend them. We had a years-long problem with a drain that we had snaked yearly to prevent backups. Hicks was the only plumber after all those years who diagnosed the problem correctly. He located the cause of the backup, not the symptoms.
The second time was for something minor: a leaky valve. He showed me how to stop the leak and didn't charge for the visit, though I would have been happy to pay for time driving out to my house.
We had an emergency service ticket for a clogged drain at a children's school. After two other companies bailed on us, Hicks came recommended . Tony arrived quicker then expected and was very quick to determine where to cut our stack to resolve our clogged drains and restore normal operations
Was he cheap? Not at all - But good labor isn't cheap, cheap labor isn't good-
6PM emergency service call taking him and his helper away from their families I am sorry but you have to pay for that- His prices were not at all unreasonable - You pay a premium for his skill, his availability, his truck stock and at the end of the day- you can either pay the premium or deal with a flood
Glad we found him and will be using him in the future
John K.I use Hick's both professionally and personally. As a property manager, Hick's is my go-to plumber for all level of jobs. They are particularly good with their cameras in the event you need to look deep into you home's drain lines for problems. I have used them for snaking clogs, new plumbing installation (toilets, faucets, spigots), repairing faucets, replacing mains (under concrete), and one particularly ugly situation in a small crawlspace fixing an improperly installed sump line that emptied into a sewer line. In all cases, problem fixed professionally.
I also use Hick's for work at my own house.
For other reviews that mention Hick's is expensive ... the only conclusion I can draw is that those people have never hired a plumber in the DMV. Our company uses no less than a dozen different plumbers depending on location and job (we manage 700 homes), and Hick's is very competitively priced and offers great quality. They are not cheap, but they are definitely not expensive for this area.
Over the past few years, Hick's reputation has grown, and they can be very busy. The best way to get through in emergencies is to TEXT the office manager Christina at (703) 973-3012. Their time windows may not be perfect, but I have found their communication excellent.
After big rains, my outside drains at the bottom of my walk-up stairs drain not fast enough and cause flooding of my basement. I called Hicks today when my basement floods again . At first , Tony tried to snake the outside drain but it did not work and there was no water flowing into the sump. With his experience and his hi-tech tool, Tony thought the drain pipe ends just out side the Sump wall and not flowing into the sump for the pump to work. Tony used a cutting tool to cut thru the sump plastic wall. Sure enough, muddy water started pouring out into the sump. I used my fingers to confirm that there was indeed a 3'' pipe right at the hole. Tony said he has seen this careless installation in several houses. I have used Hicks twice before. For small basic jobs like faucet fixing, Hicks may be expensive. But for difficult jobs like this, Hicks is worth every penny. Hicks has all the sophisticated tools like cameras, line tracer that a regular plumber does not have. I wish that i had called Hicks sooner on this problem.
Hicks plumbing is awesome. They are prompt, courteous and excellent plumbers at a fair price. Highly recommend!!!!
Probably the single best experience that I've had working with a plumbing company. I had to have my hot water heater replaced very late on a Friday night right before a snow storm. Hicks Plumbing came to the rescue! Tony got there very quickly, walked me through the entire process and answered all of my thousands of questions graciously and took very good care to make sure everything was done 150% correctly. I will always go to Hicks from now on with any plumbing issue I have. Totally honest professionals, experts in what they do and all around good people that I would sit around a fire pit and enjoy spending time with. Rare these days, but a ray of sunshine in a crisis.
Great guys, were able to help me out same day when I called in the morning. Helped quickly diagnose and fix a leaking and backed up kitchen drain pipe due to too much being thrown down the garbage disposal. Troubleshooted some simpler options prior to snaking the line to save me money and were able to use my existing line with a new gasket to get me back up and running. Would recommend them in a heartbeat - honest, down to earth, and super knowledgable - even showed me a few things around the house I could do myself. Will definitely be going back for some bigger projects when the time comes.
The company provides satisfactory and timely work; but no warranty information is provided in their receipt upon completion, and they are quite pricey. Due to their prices, I will be searching around for a new plumber the next time I need one.
Tony came by right on tIme and was super friendly and professional. He was the only plumber that actually did not attempt to rip me off. He went to Home Depot and stood in massively long line. Came back and finished the job promptly. Charged a very fair and reasonable price. I will definitely call Tony again for any future plumbing needs and highly recommend to everyone. Thanks Tony!
Susan F.If there were more stars, I would go higher! My water heater died last night. I called Hicks at 10:00 am today and they were available to come at 11:30. They were on time, extremely nice and very efficient. They confirmed I needed a new unit and had it here, pulled the old one, installed the new one, and cleaned up by 12:15! I couldn't have asked for better service. Highly recommend!
