Our boiler chose to stop working on a Sunday night mid January Found Herlihy's Plumbing & Heating on Yelp and gave them a call. I left a voicemail message that was returned in less than 5 minutes. Frank came early the next morning and in a few hours and after the collection of the right part (electronic, of course) we had heat! Yay! Quick service and reasonably priced. Would definitely use them again if the need arises!

Randy is a pleasure to work with. He the type of person who is very clear to his customers that he puts our experience of our home first. He's does not rush someone into a decision about work for his own profit, and after a decision is made, he executes on the work quickly and with the highest attention to its quality. He is available for questions or to address urgent issues. Randy also gives his customers every opportunity to contribute sweat equity where appropriate.

We are first time home owners and purchased a foreclosure in desperate need of a boiler / domestic hot water replacement. We began working with Randy before closing on the house. He was available to give estimates on work and was prepared to be flexible with us as we negotiated with the sellers around how the home would be financed. Randy took a look at paper work that would have been required in the event that we opted for HomeStyle funding and was on board to go that route if necessary - without this flexibility we wouldn't have been able to move forward with negotiations.

Randy gave us quotes for two high efficiency heat / hot water systems and recommended one system to us. Given that his recommendation was different from what we thought we wanted, he was very patient on the phone explaining the differences. He was extremely clear that we should not agree to work until we are 100% sure and comfortable with the plan, and he didn't mind answering many many questions as we came to a decision. We ultimately opted to follow his recommendation and are happy that we did.

Randy got to work as soon as materials were in. His work is very tidy and thorough. He gave us every opportunity to save on cost by having us do any work we're capable of including building the wall mount for the new boiler and disposing of our old boiler / hot water heater. This enabled us to stay on budget without compromising on the quality of work or equipment installed.

Randy also gave us the benefit of estimates on other areas of concern in the house (again being clear about what work we would be capable of to keep costs down, and being totally transparent about the materials cost). He helped us sort through which projects should be prioritized and which could be tabled for another year. He also gave us pointers on what to look out for in the new house.

Most recently, we work up without heat in the house. The problem was NOT with the boiler or any work that Randy had done but with the gas supply. When the utility company came to do repairs, Randy also came right over (with no notice, really) to make sure nothing else was going on and to make sure the boiler booted back up without any issue.

We converted our home from money-sucking oil to gas and are thrilled we made the investment to do so. Randy navigated the conversion with Con-Ed and did the install himself. Our boiler room looks like a beautiful space ship and our heating bill is a fraction of what it was! Not only is Randy skilled, he is kind, funny and a pleasure to work with.

We have also hired Randy to do smaller jobs (replace water heater, replace sink/bathroom vanity) and he treated them with just as much professionalism as the larger conversion job.

He takes great pride in his work and we could not be happier with the outcome. He has since replaced our hot water heater and repaired some leaks in our kitchen.
