Our goal is to provide a plumbing experience that is both simple and satisfying. My plumbing journey started in 2005 at a reputable plumbing company in San Mateo County. I valued my time in service, repair, and remodels as I started my career. Those three years provided me with invaluable skills. My next position was with another prominent plumbing service in San Jose, CA. Following five years in the service field, I knew it was time for a new challenge. From 2010 to 2014, I worked with an outstanding plumbing contractor focused on new construction in Atherton, CA. During those four years, I built a solid client base during my free time. To better serve my clients, I decided to fully commit to my business, leading to the creation of Henthorn Plumbing.
My mission is to restore that traditional, straightforward, and simple service because that’s how I operate and what quality craftsmanship embodies. Henthorn Plumbing is completely licensed, bonded, and insured. I, Matt Henthorn, am the business owner and a licensed plumbing contractor (CA #994835) who grew up in Mountain View, CA.
I love spending time with my wife and kids, making music, engaging in traditional archery, and, naturally, plumbing.

Matt was professional, responsive and reasonable. Overall excellent experience.

I looked up a plumber on Yelp and found Henthorn Plumbing. I called one other company, but I really liked Matt's manner on the phone. The other company I called started throwing out all kinds of caveats: we may have to go on the roof ($), etc, etc.
Matt Henthorn knew what the problem was from my description, and said it would probably be an easy fix, which it was. His price is very reasonable, he showed up on time, and got the job done. Solid 5 stars, and we will use him for our future plumbing needs.

Had a clogged toilet and was looking for someone to come in as soon as possible. Tried a few other plumbers and nobody bothered calling back. Called Matt at 8:15 AM, got his call back by 9 AM. We scheduled a time for later in the evening.. and as promised, Matt was right on time, got the toilet unclogged, fixed another minor issue. Less than 15-20 mins, he's done a thorough professional job at a reasonable price and left a very happy satisfied customer. Will definitely reach out to him anytime I have plumbing issues in the future and also recommend him to others.

I called Matt to clear a clogged toilet. Matt quoted $125 to clear the line between the toilet and the septic tank. I chose Matt because the other plumbers I called quoted $200, $250 and $338 to do the same job. Matt provided quality work and left the bathroom cleaner than he found it. He charged exactly what he quoted. He is professional, honest and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely call Matt for my next plumbing job.

In my search for a highly capable plumber to replace a badly leaking water heater, most of those I contacted either didn't return the call or failed show up at the appointed time. Matt, however, set himself apart from the others. He was responsive, on time, and as we learned, a talented plumber who takes pride in his work. He's also a skilled listener, intent on gaining information that is or might be important to his diagnosis. While he works efficiently, he doesn't cut corners and spends a good amount of time carefully inspecting and testing his work. The installation was an improvement over the unit being replaced both in workmanship and approach. For example, the old heater, while strapped to the wall in such a manner that would permit lateral movement in significant shaker. To mitigate that possibility, Matt added wood blocking affixed to the wall to provide more stability in an earthquake. Additionally, he replaced the screw type water valve with a single lever type which provides an added measure of safety with its ability to quickly shut off the water source. It was a high quality installation.
Aside from the attributes I mentioned, we found him to be honest and respectful. There was never any up sell, I'll be calling Matt for my future needs.

My water heater cracked and leaked all over my basement on a Wednesday night. I called Matt for an estimate. He came by Thursday morning and immediately shut off the main valve to the water heater (it was stuck). I had 3 other people come in and none of them would touch the valve. Matt's quote was very reasonable to replace my existing tank water heater with a Navien tankless water heater with re-circulation pump. I chose Matt to install the tankless water heater as he was the most genuine, honest and trustworthy plumber I met. He gave me various options and gave me all the pros and cons.
Matt immediately replaced my water heater on Friday and hot water was running immediately. The wife and kids were ecstatic and life was good again. He then came by the following Friday to finish the re-circulation pump throughout the house and also replaced an old toilet with a new Toto one. He took care of all the old pipes and old water heater and left me with a nicely installed tankless heater.
It's been about 2 months since my water heater was installed and we love it. I highly recommend Matt and will call him up for any future plumbing projects in my house. He was always on time and I never felt like I had to worry about a thing. I don't think I will ever call another plumber.

I did my tankless unit research after considering Noritz, Rinnai and Navien brands for a tankless water heater. Based on 98% efficiency, primary and secondary heat exchangers being all stainless steel, internal recirculation pump to reduce cold water sandwich effect and Navien being based in Irvine, CA (overnight parts) vs being located on east coast if I ever needed a part under warranty, selected them as the tankless supplier
Then began the licensed plumber research and arduous quote process, after evaluating a number of plumbers who came out but some never quoted: Payless Water Heaters, BG Plumbing, Freitas Plumbing, Counsil Plumbing, Cool's Custom, On Demand Water Heaters (never quoted after viewing project), Just Tankless (never quoted or responded after viewing project), and many others selected Henthorn Plumbing.
Most plumbers for tankless install will aim to bill you for the job for worst case scenario which equates to $300 per hour if you do the math (for two day install) this is to protect them just in case problems arise so you will see quotes vary largely from $3.8K-5K-10K. I specifically wanted a plumber that would charge time + materials and stay on target vs charge for the worse case and Matt Henthorn was the plumber that could do exactly what I wanted and he stayed on target with install in 2 days as estimated.
Project was to run a dedicated 35ft x 1"" galvanized steel gas line from meter mounted to strut, strapped every 7' with sediment trap, pressure tested prior to connection to Navien NPE-210A tankless water heater installed over plywood (brace sheet rock) meeting manufacturer clearance requirements, 2"" schedule 40 PVC intake and exhaust vents separated 12"", removed old washer stand-pipe, installed new PVC standpipe, sanitary tee, cleanout, new laundry box with water hammer suppressors, condensate neutralizer and scale inhibitor along with service valves, new gas dryer hookup and flex, install new brass hose bib. Also installed a new figure 5, sanitary tee to support both new future laundry vanity sink and existing bathroom sink. I patched the sheetrock myself so he could finish the install.
Matt completed full install in 2 days, everything worked as it should, now have endless hot water, I will call him back to finish vanity sink hookup once I have it and countertop installed. His time and labor quote was very competitive and no corners were cut from project scope that I drafted.
Matt demonstrated journeyman qualities of integrity, honesty, cool head - nothing seem to phase him if complications arose, he is CA C36 licensed, bonded with workers compensation (he had one helper to help with gas line cutting and bracing) and does all work according to city code. He is also personable, positive attitude involves you in the decision making process and options.
I am wholeheartedly recommending him for your tankless water heater, gas line, water hookup, drain and any other plumbing needs. 5 stars

Matt and his assistant installed my new Toto toilet, replacement water filters for a Pure Effects undercounter water filter, and checked out some other plumbing questions I had (washer hoses, and a funny-sounding flush on the other toilet, which needed an adjustment.)
They were friendly, efficient, reasonably-priced, and a joy to have in the house. I'd call him again in a heartbeat!

Matt was great came out the same day my kitchen sink was clogged n he fixed it quick. He is coming back to do more stuff for me. The price is great! Thanks Matt !

Henthorn Plumbing is by far one of the best I have worked with in the Bay Area. As a property manager, I have worked with a good number and confident to put in my recommendation. I had him scheduled already to repair kitchen faucet. Mind you this particular appointment was set with one simple quick phone call, when my other 5 attempts with plumbers failed. The day of the appointment, tenant called with an emergency hot water failure. Both mom and toddler were home with bad cold. Because we were in the middle of winter, I called Matt immediately and he quickly rearranged his appointments and rushed over to fix both the kitchen faucet and replaced a new water heater! He is super professional yet with an amazing sense of human touch. He tries to understand the scope of the problem and has a superb plan on how to take care of the issue. Matt is very calm and his workmanship is top notch. There is no one doubt in my mind I would work and recommend him to others. Take my word, you will not regret calling his number. There should be more of him around!
