I just had Helten's out here today to replace my air conditioner / heat pump. They are a family-owned business and David and his son came out today to replace my equipment. I could not be happier from the experience I had today and the bidding process. These folks are down to earth and have been in the business for 35 years. He was honest, easy to talk to and let him know what I was looking for and did exceptional work at my home today. Very reasonably priced. I got six bids total and he actually came in slightly at the lowest price. But that does not mean I got crappy equipment. The equipment he provided me with today was a very good brand name that can be trusted. 10-year parts warranty and a 2-year labor warranty which nobody else provided the 2-year labor warranty. Just overall a great experience. I would recommend this company for either general maintenance on your systems or replacement of systems.

Vivian N.Helton's was wonderful when my furnace broke. I called in the morning because I smelled gas and David was at my house by the afternoon to check it out. He was extremely prompt with responding and showed up just when he said he would. As it turns out I needed my whole HVAC system replaced, which is any homeowner's nightmare, but David and his team made the process as easy as possible. Can't recommend this company enough. They are good people who do quality work!
David and his team were super helpful in diagnosing and fixing our AC issues twice (unrelated issues) in the last month. They were very considerate in their communications and pricing, and having David himself out both times is a comfort. My wife felt comfortable being home alone while they worked, which is worth a lot to me! Highly recommend!
Helton's Service was referred by my home warranty. Other than the home warranty not putting the service request in when I first called, David once got he got the request he was here in the time he said he would. I like that because in the years I hire a contractor most of them do not show up as they say. David found the issue with my AC and it was repaired in no time and even made a suggestion to my benefit. I appreciated that and I believe he was honest about it. I would call him should I need service again.
I cried when we got our electric bill in July of 2015. It was $548.31!!! Despite our two A/C units running nonstop, the house was unbearably hot (we had the thermostat set to about 74 degrees, but it was at least 80 at all times).
We called Helton's to come out and help us. After Helton's installed our new system, the electric bill immediately dropped to $184.43 in August--the hottest month of the year. That's a savings of $363.88!
And if you compare year-to-year from our new system to the old one, we had a savings of $107.39 in August from when the old, undersized, contractor-installed system was working ""correctly"". The new system cuts our household electric usage almost in half.
We are extremely happy with the new system Helton's put in. My dad was here when they installed the units because my husband and I were out of state. He said they did an EXCELLENT job, which is high praise because my dad does everything with excellence and is a perfectionist!
The reason I rated them 4 stars instead of 5 is because we did have a minor issue with the attic vent fan they installed not shutting off they way it should. It took two service calls after the initial installation to correct the problem. I think it's because the techs are still learning, but the owner obviously knows his stuff. Once the techs' knowledge gets up there with the owner, this will definitely be a 5-star company! They are very friendly, were on time, and handled a very difficult installation situation very well.

Absolutely horrible!! Not sure how my experience could have been any worse. A/C went out. Called and they sent out a technician who knew nothing about HVAC. The technician reset the HVAC and got it to run for about an hour and left. Called and asked if they could come back out because it was still not working. Claimed it would be a week before they could come back. Foolishly I waited and made the appointment. A week goes by and they are a no show. Called them and they tell me the technician is out of town and it will be at least another week and there is no one else they can send. A little heads up would have been nice. Had to miss work to be there. Would advise going with anyone else. With all the companies I have dealt with this is by far the worst one.

I was referred to Helton's from my home warranty company for repair of my mini split A/C unit. The first appointment, the technician was supposed to arrive between 8am and 11am. I made it clear to the scheduler that I had an appointment that could not be rescheduled at noon. The technician finally arrived at my home at 11:30am after several phone calls. He had zero knowledge of mini split systems and was not shy about admitting that (why would they send this tech in the first place?). He gave it a brief look over (seriously just a look. no touching or taking things apart) and said it seemed to be working fine. I asked several questions regarding the general operating system of this unit, all of which he was unable to answer. He then asked for a check.
Three days later, the compressor froze and spewed ice all over my room. My home warranty company again referred me to Helton's. I spoke with the scheduler and set up an appointment for the following day between 8am and noon. At 12:00, when I still hadn't heard from a tech, I called. I was told that they tried calling my home warranty company to let them know that they don't have any technicians with knowledge of mini split systems, but were on hold for too long so gave up. NO ONE FROM HELTON'S BOTHERED TO CALL ME (the customer) and inform me that my appointment had been cancelled and they would not be sending anyone out. RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE OF OTHER PEOPLE'S TIME.
Sold a unit by telling unit with SS heat exchanger was checked. Heat exchanger was good.
I agree with the customer's who complained about Heltons. This company is horrible. They have no concept of customer service, and their ""technicians"" are rude, and have flat out lied to me and my wife. Two years ago, our HVAC unit went out, and we needed a replacement. We called a few places, then settled on Helton's, because they could do the job the soonest. We needed the replacement because our heater went out, and they came out and replaced it. Neither my wife nor I know anything about HVAC, so we trusted them to do the job and put the proper unit on the house. The first spring and summer with the new unit, it could not cool our house below 78-80 degrees. We called several times, and they would send techs out and they would tell us something different each time they came out. They liked to blame the heat on the fact that we have a vaulted ceiling in our living room, saying that the room is ""supposed to be hot because of the vaulted ceiling."" Again, this spring and summer, we began to have the same problems. Still have not gotten any closure on why our new unit is not cooling the house. They told us that its the same size unit as the one they replaced, but they could never explain why the old unit had no problem cooling our house but this one did. Fast forward several more service calls (even had a tech SERIOUSLY tell me that the FLUX CAPACITOR was bad in our unit! REALLY? Folks, I am dead serious when I tell you this), and still no resolution. We finally got a new representative, who was their new operations manager, who came out and said that we needed a larger unit, that the unit we had was too small and would never work. He said that he was willing to buy back our current unit and give us a larger unit for next to no cost. When we agreed, the owners (David and Tracy Helton) told him he wasn't allowed to do that for us. He was willing to do the right thing, and David and Tracy were not. So every time I would call Tracy to fight this issue, I would get hung up on, and I would leave messages, and would not get return phone calls, until finally, David called me and cursed me out, and talked to me like I was a piece of crap. He agreed to buy back my unit if I bought a new unit from another company. He swore to me that the size of the unit was not the issue (he just didn't want to admit he was wrong, and didn't want to eat the cost of the old unit to do the right thing). I took the money, they took the unit, and the same day, I had another company come out and put a larger unit on my house, and guess what? It has worked perfectly since the day it was installed. The point of this long story, is DO NOT, under any circumstances, deal with this company, or give them your money. They operate their company out of a horse barn, they have technicians who have no idea what they're doing, and don't know how to deal with customers, and David and Tracy do not understand how to run a business and they don't know how to treat people. I deeply regret ever calling them, because I have spent two years fighting with them to finally get my problem solved, when there wouldn't have ever been a problem if they had just known how to properly fit an air conditioner to a house to begin with.
