I wasn't expecting to see so many negative views but my disappointing experience with this company now makes sense. Disrespectful and unreliable, there is no excuse for such unfrofessional behavior. AVOID...Don't waste time on this low integrity company.

Do your homework before calling this company! They want to charge me over 500 dollars for washing out my heat pump filters with my garden hose, The tech who was at my home used my garden hose to wash out the evaporator, Then removed the filters from units in my home and used my garden hose to clean them. They then charged me for replacing the filters and cleaning the units out, which they never did.. I questioned the bill and have had nothing but arguments with them regarding the bill, Called two other HVAC companies and both stated that I was being overcharged for the work that was done! Both other companies stated that it is very rear to replace the filters, They are designed to be washed out. I'll never use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone!

Do your homework before using them for a service call, get everything in writing so they can't tack charges you didn't know existed.
I had HB Energy install a mini split a few years ago and I was very happy with the service, their technicians were great and I was pleased with their work.
However..... I called them to do an annual cleaning I was given an appointment time and quoted a rate. I asked if there were additional charges and I was informed that if it took the Tech longer than expected we would be charged for the additional time.
Apparently I didn't ask if they were going to charge me travel time. This wasn't an off-hours call (and it wasn't mentioned at the time, but I was told that had I asked about it they would have told me) so I didn't expect this.
When I received the bill they charged me 1.75 hrs labor (first hour plus addl .75) even though the tech was here about 45 min. I was told they would only charge addl if the job went longer than an hour, I guess they forgot to mention I would be on the hook for addl time if they stopped at McDonald's because of the drive time.
They also charged me extra because they used a backpack sprayer to clean the mini-split, the owner of the company tried to explain that specialized equipment cost a lot and they need to pay for it..... it's a backpack sprayer, I shouldn't be charged $19 for tools you use to do your job..... that's built into the cost of the service and it was never disclosed when I called for a quote.

I called to question the bill and they admitted they over charged me by 15 minutes on the labor charge (oopsie... but we are sticking to our trip charge we never disclosed). I also got various explanations on the pressure washer charge, again it was power backpack sprayer I can buy for $160 but apparently they are charging all their customers $19 to use it to do the job I am already paying for

Lastly the owner called me back to let me know I made one of his employees cry and that he was done with me, he didn't really seem to care about his accounting practices or lack of disclosures.

I will close saying they have good techs but get in writing what any service calls charges are because apparently you have to ask about specific items that you may not know existed in order to get full disclosure

The worst company ever. It took them two weeks to get to my house for a site visit. Another 2 weeks for quote, then the day installation was supposed to take place they told me the owner said he didn't want to do the job.. I am still waiting for my deposit back a week and half later.. Great way to do business...

HB does not like to be questioned about possible over charges. I've been a heating oil and propane user from HB for a number of years, contracting on the budget system. Recently my propane fired water heater sprung a leak and I decided to go to a tankless system. I purchased a system and the parts needed for installation. I installed everything except the plumbing for the water and propane hook-up. When the leak was discovered I had the whole house water shut off and called HB to fix it so we could use cold water. When I got the bill I was surprised at the hours being claimed, plus the charge for a valve the plumber, Ed, had to go to town to get. There was a 300% mark-up for the part. I paid the bill. There was an extra half hour charged for labor than was actually used. That was $125.00 first hour, $98 after. To plumb the system extra time was added and mark-up for parts for example: 3/4"" copper elbow, cost $1, charged $5.75. Parts were marked up 300 t0 500%. I was told after the present contract was done they would not renew it when I questioned the costs.

Please, think twice about using this company. We contracted this company to do an oil tank inspection report at our home we were under contract to sell. When the oil tank inspection was done, my husband, a licensed HVAC with over 25+ years of experience, scanned copies of this document to send to our realtor. Ten days later, a person at HB Fuels (I will not mention his name here), that had NEVER seen the tank, altered the oil tank report, based on statements and pictures he claims he received from the buyer's agent. The sad thing is, we have never even been shown said pictures, so we are not even sure the pictures are of our oil tank. Sadly, due to the ""unethical"" alterations we lost the sale on our home. I would highly suggest using another company so that your reports don't suddenly change too! We are now out the sale of the home, because of their alterations. Please, go elsewhere.

Don't Use these guys! I was desperate & they came out - took TWO hours to decide they couldn't find anything wrong and then tried to charge Overtime for a friday afternoon call-out. Changed the bill to their regular charge, but TWO hours to find NOTHING. Totally unacceptable.

Completed an HVAC installation job that was too complex for my local electrician. I was able to pay for and schedule the installation all on amazon.com. Up front pricing with a satisfaction guarantee. Two electricians arrived, and completed the job on the first visit, at the agreed upon price, no games or gimmicks. They were polite, professional, and competent..Way more knowledgeable than the guy from Dompier Electric in Brattleboro- for example the HB Energy guys knew what a PAM-1 voltage relay way, and how to install it, I didn't have to explain things like that. Dompier electric charged me $75 to do nothing. I went without heat all winter, afraid to get ripped off again, until I found HB on amazon. So glad I don't have to overpay for bad service anymore when it comes to electricians

I would not recommend this company at all. I had looked at the reviews before calling them for service on our pellet stove (which was not purchased from them and came with the house we bought). It took them a week or so to come out, which was okay as we have other sources of heat. They did a general cleaning and said that if it stops working again the blower fan would need to be replaced. The stove worked for a day and a half and stopped again. The tech left us his card and said we could email him, so I did. Did not get a response in a week as I emailed again and this time I received an email. He said that I could start the fan with my hand, it didn't sound safe, but I did it and it would work for until it shut off and then you would have to do the same thing again. After a few days a sent another email asking for pricing on replacing the fan (parts and labor). Did not get a response, emailed again with no response. Since it was at the end of the heating season we left it alone. In September before the next heating year I emailed again asking for pricing. No response. So we called the company and explained what was going on so the talked to the tech. We thought maybe there was a new tech as the old one had left that's why we didn't get a response, we were wrong, same tech. They 'ordered' the part needed and we checked in once a month to see where things were. The part finally came in, in like March. The installed the part and it worked for 12 hours...12 HOURS! and would not feed anymore. We again emailed with no response after the tech said that the feeder motor might need to be replaced. It is amazing how they make it without responding to the customers. So now we have a pellet stove that will not work and the tech knows that there is an issue but didn't just fix what needed to be fixed. We have had it for three heating seasons and only was able to use it for the first two months of the first heating season. We told them that we did not want to pay for something that was not actually fixed...they said they could schedule the tech to come back out, but has yet to set up an appointment. We have paid them now, but we fell as though we have been ripped off because the parts & SERVICE that we had been billed for did not actually fix the issue. Its like they are a scam company.

We know that there are many customers that are very satisfied with this company, just we are not one of them!

Terrible Service. Whoever TOM is is very arrogant on the phone and doesn't not care about the customers. I have been without heat for OVER a week. I have been hauling diesel because every time they say they will deliver something always comes up. This last time TOM called to tell me he's sorry, but he misplaced my ticket and I would have to continue hauling diesel again because his driver is gone. He admitted fault but told me in less words its my problem now, not his. he didn't even offer a discount or way of apology for all this time I've been getting rear ended by the company.
I am a new customer, this would be my first delivery. I guess they have enough money coming in and don't feel they need to cater to new accounts.
