Honestly, I don't even know where to begin...Last year my wife and I decided that rather than moving, we would renovate and finish our basement to create some extra living space.
Having worked with our contractor on several projects previously, we trusted his recommendation and elected to go with Hazlett plumbing to install a shower, sink, and toilet in our basement.
This of course required that concrete be dug up, and re poured. At first we were satisfied with the work...they were prompt, polite, and from what we gathered...fair.
Now it's worth noting that our basement had always been dry. No standing water, no foundation issues, nothing...
Since Hazlett did what they did, our basement (which has since been refinished) has seen FLOWING water THREE times!!!
When I contracted Hazlett and spoke with Sam, he offered every excuse in the book ""its probably a crack in the foundation"", ""there was always a water issue"", we can't confirm where the source of water is coming from"".
After speaking with our contractor he decided to come out and inspect the issue.
This is where it gets good...to start, Sam found it appropriate to reach out after 10pm to schedule the consultation (most companies adhere to normal business hours when contacting clients but Sam must think he's special). He then changed the time on us and the morning of the appointment, he was OVER 45 MINUTES LATE (good thing my contractor and myself had nothing else better to do)!!
When Sam finally did arrive I reminded him that at no point in any of this process did He or anyone on his crew explain that there was a chance water could enter through the shower drain (which was the determined source of the leak). Not in the initial consultation, not before they started the work, and definitely not after they finished the work.
I was then asked that if hypothetically speaking, would I have paid for a drain line when they first arrived, my response was yes. Had we known there was a chance water was going to flood the basement, we would have paid for a drain line to be connected to the sump pump.
His reply was then fine, this is the cost because that's what we would have charged IF it was discussed.
Appalled and outraged, I stated that it wasn't discussed and to charge for a hypothetical conversation THAT NEVER TOOK PLACE IS OBSURD.
He then continued on about how this was always an issue and that he did nothing wrong. I explained in the simplest of terms, that our basement was DRY before you arrived and WET after you left.
To me it was very black and white...basement was dry and now IS NOT DRY. Sam on the other hand, offered up more and more excuses as to why he was not at fault.
Having read the reviews, I am shocked at the level of service and disrespect we have received.
For anyone that requires ACTUAL PLUMBING be done, do yourself a favor and go with a more qualified company, ONE WHO STANDS BEHIND THEIR GUARANTEE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THEIR WORK

***Just a brief update.

It is worth noting that my wife and offered to cover the cost of materials and have Sam cover the cost of labor. Sam immediately rejected this proposal (just in case there were questions about us being unreasonable or unwilling to compromise).

We thought this was a fair ask considering neither Sam or any of his crew ever discussed with us the possibility of water entering into the basement (it is also worth noting that a PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER couldn't be bothered to properly educate an uninformed consumer on ALL possible issues they may run into, however unlikely).

Also, for a company who prides itself on being prompt, courteous, and professional...to not even get a phone call/text message that you were running late is in my opinion, very unprofessional.***

I talked with the owner on the phone to troubleshoot and get advice about a plumbing/sewer line issue.

Despite having no previous contact, he spent some time and gave me some great advice. I wouldn't hesitate doing business with this company, a little customer service goes a long way.

Looking for a plumber for my ongoing remodel work. I sent out a request for quotes thru Yelp. Sam responded quickly and personally. He provided an estimate the next day, without a service call charge like the 3 other ""large"" plumbing HCAV companies wanted. Being a small business owner myself I appreciate the on site contact with the owner. The work was done quickly and exactly as he projected. The price was fair. I have additional plumbing work to be done soon and will be using Hazlett Plumbing again. Support your local small businesses...now more than ever. The service was excellent.

At 8 pm on a Monday night, our ancient toilet finally gave out. I contacted a few plumbers via yelp, and Hazlett contacted me within 20 m minutes asking me to text them. Early next morning, I contacted them. They came within the next two hours with a new water efficient toilet and did an amazing job! The cost to replace the existing toilet with a new water efficient toilet, including disposal of the old one was $550. Highly recommended!!!

I had Sam and his helper Noah install a whole home water filtration system I had purchased for my home. Sam suggested I directly bypass the system for outside faucets to save the filters. It was a great idea. Both guys did a fantastic job on the install. The were quick, thorough and left a very clean work area. Would recommend them to anyone.

Nice job on my toilet installation. Unlike most of the plumbers I requested quotes from, Sam Hazlett was fair, reasonable and nice to work with. Don't waste your time contacting the bigger plumbing companies on Yelp who, unfortunately, have chosen to charge outrageous prices. Sam is a good guy.
