Hawkman Plumbing
Company Overview
I handle various plumbing tasks, covering both residential and commercial. I address, renovate, or substitute all plumbing fixtures and fittings. I work on new construction and renovations. I install gas lines for kitchens, fireplaces, and clothes dryers. I clear pipes and sewer systems, providing services to rural, suburban, and urban areas. I set up both tank and tankless water heaters as well as recirculating pumps for quick hot water. I install low-flow, water-efficient toilets and faucets. I bring expertise in plumbing for restaurants and other commercial needs.
For over 30 years, I have operated as an independent plumbing contractor in Texas and throughout the Bay Area. I have spent 20 of those years in the Bay Area. I was known as Stan the Plumber Man for much of that period, but I currently operate as Hawkman Plumbing Company, licensed under California C-36. I have gained recognition among my customers for my avocation in banding and studying birds of prey. I have international recognition for my work with raptors, but in the community, I am recognized as a seasoned plumber.
Many customers enjoy hearing about raptors and my work with them. Being a native Texan, I have lived in the Bay Area for more than 20 years, I bring vast knowledge in all areas of plumbing, gaining experience in plumbing throughout New York, North Carolina, Texas, and California. I have a serious avocation involving the study of birds of prey and banding them, but my livelihood has always been in plumbing. I have introduced many of my customers to local birds of prey, and many clients find it enjoyable to learn about these birds and my experiences.

I'd had Stan install a gas line for a fireplace insert several years ago and it took a bit to track him down. I'm glad I did. He came over within an hour or two and augured my toilet which was backed up. He also hauled away 3 toilets I'd replaced with Toto Drakes for a reasonable price. His hourly rate (and therefore minimum) is half of what the Roto type companies charge. I love feeling I'm giving a good man of heart and integrity work.
I enjoy Stan bending my ear about and share his raptor research, as I'm a fan of the Cornell Hawk & Owl cams. He's a professional raptor researcher.

I contacted Stan Moore after discovering a plumbing leak under my house. He was at my house in 1/2 hour, made an emergency repair, and gave me some great advice regarding plumbing issues with my house. He is professional, does the work himself, and is a really nice guy. A solid human being too who appreciates and respects the natural environment. If you need plumbing help, call this guy!

Stan Moore is a great and very affordable plumber. We have had him do several projects in our house in San Francisco, including installing a gas line (a complicated project involving running gas lines from our basement, up through the house, so we could install a gas fireplace), installing a new water heater, fixing a toilet, and removing an old gas heater from the wall. Each time, Stan has been excellent to work with. He provided excellent advice about which hot water heater to buy (including the various pros and cons), and was creative about figuring out how to do the gas line project. We had originally wanted a Demand hot water heater system, and he worked hard to figure out how to do that for us, but eventually persuaded us that it was too complicated, given the constraints we had to work with in our house. We appreciated both his efforts to figure out how to make these projects work, and his candid advice when they seemed too complicated to be worthwhile. In one case (the toilet), he did a little fix without charging us, and we concluded that a more major repair isn't necessary, which saved us some money!
Stan's work has been excellent - he is reliable, tidy, and very competent at his job. It's also fascinating to hear his stories and see his amazing pictures about banding hawks. He has a real passion for raptors, which is inspiring.
In my view, Stan under-charges for his work, but it's great for the customer, since you can get an excellent job done for significantly less than most other plumbers would charge. Plus, he does all the work himself, so there's only one person in your house, and you know the job will be done right. I'd call him again for any plumbing project.
