Hawkins installed a pool/spa heater for me, and installed a gas line into our kitchen stove. One or their employees said the heater was not vented properly while another said it was fine. A year later it broke and they would not honor the warranty. During the kitchen install, their staff was arguing ave cussing up a storm in front of kids. Do not use this company.
Steve C.The great thing about Hawkins Service Company is that they're the one-stop shop for all your needs. We needed a new AC, various electrical outlets, HVAC duct work, propane gas line ran, and they even fixed up our 2nd older AC. I took advantage of their annual AC maintenance plan as well to keep us cool! They are very responsive and show up on time. If you want it done right, call Hawkins Service Company for all of your HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and gas needs!
We have used Hawkins for more than15 years!! The management staff is second to none as they always provide exemplary customer service and followup with any of my home-related services in need, especially my pool services. In addition, we request technician Nick every time. His communication and attention to detail is beyond superb. I would recommend Hawkins for any electrical, AC, pool, plumbing or gas needs. In this day and age you can still count on their consistent, top-quality customer service and communication at a reasonable cost without having to do due diligence elsewhere.
I've used Hawkins for the last 3 years on 2 small pool related issues, 2 AC issues and 1 major project for a whole house water filtration system. Each service request was completed to expectation and in one service call the technician noticed a problem with the way my pool builder routed the plumbing that was causing other issues. He called to notify me that he fixed the issue at no additional charge since he was already working on that section of the system. The AC issue was simply a baffle that was stuck open and the tech quickly solved the issue and showed me how to fix on my own the next time if it happened again. It's refreshing to work with a company that does exactly what they say they are going to do and when they are going to do it. With busy work and kids schedules it's difficult to make already stressful situations work. Love that we get an email ahead of the service with the full details of the tech, including the photo for security.
Hawkins has been out a few times to fix some normal pool issues. The are prompt and their prices are reasonable.
Pool heat pump failed. They showed up and barely glanced at it before declaring it needed to be replaced, and ran through the ones they could sell me without even taking a breath. Literally. Their pumps were overpriced to the tune of about 50%. I called another company and they came out and replaced the bad capacitor for less than $150. Three months later Hawkins called me to ask me which heat pump I'd like to order. Obnoxious, incompetent, swindlers. That's Hawkins.
We have had Hawkins service our air conditioning and heat pump for our pool for several years and we are members and have received great experience with their techs. I wanted to give Gio kudos, he is great and always very informative and gets the job done every single time. We have had nothing but good experience with the company and would highly recommend their service. Amy G.
Great experience with this company. Gabby is a great tech and wonderful to work with. We are members and receive discounts and free services. I would recommend enrolling.
I would not use this company ever again. The tech was told to tell me from his boss that we needed to replace TXV valve in our pool heater. That part is a $150 part then he proceeded to tell me it was a $3,000 fix to replace it. The pool heater is only 6 years old and I paid $3500 for it. I told the tech to forget it. After he left I turned it on and in 2 hrs my spa temp went from 62 degrees to 102 degrees. There is nothing wrong with the TXV valve. What is wrong is a repair company trying to rip off a senior citizen. I won't mention the techs name because I think he was only doing what he was instructed to do by his superior. Do not use this company!
Matt E.My pool contractor subcontracted work to Hawkins so I never had a choice of who to hire, but if you do have a choice, I recommend you find someone else. Hawkins came to my house on July 8th to install the electrical equipment for my pool, and they still have not been able to get things working right. The first thing they did was cut through my fiber-optic internet line, about 6 inches from where the line goes into the ground. It is really obvious that there is a wire there for anyone with experience running wires underground, which is exactly what this guy was doing. And no, they didn't tell me in advance that they were coming so I couldn't get the lines marked for them ahead of time. It took a week to get that fixed by my internet provider which was a huge pain since my wife and I both work from home. Ok, fine, mistakes happen. They started wiring up the equipment and when they were done, neither my heat pump nor salt cell power unit would turn on. They wouldn't address either until the pool was further along in the build process, since at the time it was just a concrete shell. Fast forward 4 months to November 11th when the pool's plaster was completed and the pool company's tech came for startup. He determines Hawkins made 3 mistakes (the first we had just found, the last 2 we have known about since July). First, they installed the wrong control board (it was for a pool OR spa, not the pool AND spa board that was ordered). Second, they installed a faulty circuit breaker, which looked like it was old/used compared to all the others (all scuffed up, writing scratched off it in places - the others looked brand new). Finally, the salt cell power unit would not power on. The pool tech said Hawkins has messed up the salt cell power unit wiring on a number of pools he has been to recently, frequently forgetting to wire the pool pump to the unit. There is no guarantee that's my issue, but we know its either a faulty power unit or the wiring to the power unit is wrong. My pool company was able to work around Hawkins to get the control board sorted out via a software update and then opened a ticket for the other two items with Hawkins. After waiting a few weeks for the first available appointment, a Hawkins rep comes out and diagnoses the issue as a bad circuit breaker - which we already knew. He says he can't fix that, that's the """"electrical"""" department's job. I asked about the salt cell power unit and he said its all related to the breaker and he leaves. That afternoon the """"electrical"""" department comes out to replace the breaker. Now the heat pump works but the salt water power unit still doesn't. They claim the salt power unit is the first guy's job, not theirs, and they leave. Two more weeks go by without any activity, so I call the office to find out when they are coming back to finish the job and find out they had closed the work order as complete and thought everything was working. So they decide to open a new ticket for this on December 29th. I ask when they can come back out and they tell me to call back after the New Year's holidays. So I do and they tell me they won't come back out until they have a full replacement salt cell and power unit on the truck (I assume so they can be sure its fixed on the next trip). They said they have to replace equipment in order to get paid for warranty work by the manufacturer, implying that they aren't willing to warranty their own shoddy work otherwise. Then they tell me that the salt cell is on back-order. The salt cell and power unit are two separate pieces of equipment. I have no reason to think the salt cell is bad, it has always been the power unit that won't turn on. But now I have to wait some unknown amount of time for a part that I don't need to be back in stock so they can come fix the power unit, which they do have. All for an issue they have known about since July and have refused to even attempt to diagnose in the 6 months since. Cliff's notes: - Poor initial install - broke internet line, installed cheaper equipment than what was ordered, didn't make sure things worked before leaving. - Came back out to fix two issues and was only willing to look at one and closed the ticket. - Will not come back out for the other issue until they can have backordered parts that aren't needed on hand so they can bill the manufacturer for warranty work since they can't bill me.
