Called, left a message I needed service and what it was. Never returned my call.... Years ago I used this firm many times and they were neat clean professional and responsive Obviously the new order doesn't value their reputation?????

I consider these guys to be both unpleasant and a ripoff. Here's why:

1. Poor communication. I asked them to call me when they arrived at the property to replace a hot water heater so I could meet them there. They didn't.
2. Inferior materials. In my absence, they went ahead and used ""shark bites"" (plastic, basically) instead of copper, even though everything else was installed with copper. They did not ask me first.
3. Dishonest pricing. Then they charged me exorbitant prices for the parts and for disposing of the old water heater -- charges on top of the estimate they had given me.
4. Higher rates than competitors. In general, if you don't buy the hot water heater yourself, you'll definitely pay a premium, but these guys charge $150/hr - most are @ $90, with some charging more for first hour.
5. When I called to ask them to stick to their original price ($300) the guy was argumentative (this has been noted in other reviews) and refused to compromise.
So, fine, take the money, take the bad reviews. I get the feeling that Hatfield and Joyce are stuck in the 1950s, when ""the man of the house"" oversaw any plumbing work, and they don't feel it's up to them to give accurate estimates or communicate with clients in any way. The reviews aren't just bad on Yelp; since this experience I've heard other complaints around town. Same kinds of problems. But the guy didn't want to hear it. Maybe he'll read it instead. Hired them on numerous occasions over the past few years, but the work they did for me recently wasn't great. Live and learn...

We had a terrible experience with Hatfield-Joyce and do not recommend them to anyone. We had an issue in the kitchen with plumbing and they came out to fix it. They fixed the initial problem but then a ocuple days later we were still experiencing isues. Numerous attempts were made to reach them and messages left. After a week + time had gone by we finally heard back from them. In the meantime the entire kitchen had flooded causing headaches and damage to the kitchen. THis all could have been avoided if they had returned the calls in a timely professional manner. Very un-professional and non-responsive in addition to argumentative and rude.
