I had an electric hot water heater installed less than two years ago and when I went to go sell my house recently, I had them come back to work on the hot water heater because they never put it up on blocks or put the pressure release valve drain and they ended up charging me almost half of the original install to do those items that should have been done originally. When I asked to have that bill looked at, they said both of those were optional, whereas insurance purposes require them and they're both for safety and so that you in case of flooding, don't have to replace your hot water heater. I don't recommend this company to anyone.

12 years ago Hardings installed a tankless hot water tank in our home and billed us for a tankless boiler. Just recently our furnace stopped working and when we contacted a different contractor he informed us that Hardings installed the incorrect device. After contacting Hardings to complain about them installing a tankless hot water tank instead of a boiler they acknowledged what they did and it was then uncovered that we were billed for a tankless boiler of $3,000 and the hot water tank they installed was valued at $1,200. They were defensive and down right rude and did not take ownership of their deceptive practices. When a consumer makes the decision to shop local and entrust that a professional was providing impeccable service and they find out years later they were deceived and taken advantage off that is unacceptable. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

I really wanted to like these guys, but there were quite a few inexcusable issues. We purchased the best gas furnace they offer (along with extras) we had them clean our ducts, we purchased and had them install a new gas fireplace insert to replace our old one. It was an $8,500 job all said and done. Based on the nice website, 24/7 service and multi-generation family owned business and fancy fleet of trucks I thought I had nothing to worry about and I had made an educated choice.

1. Job was not completed the day it was supposed to be because they needed to order an extra part or two (not a huge deal). Upon return and completion of the job I received another invoice and was charged another service and parts installation fee around $400.
2. Upon inspecting the gas fireplace insert install there were major safety issues. My CO (carbon monoxide) detector went off multiple times while running the fireplace the first night we finally turned it on. I was told to wait 1 day to allow the caulk to cure - I waited 4 days, so clearly not user error. The vent pipes were not put together correctly or sealed correctly and we had deadly CO gas leaking into our living room. I called for them to service it and a few days later they arrived to fix the issue. No apology about the Carbon Monoxide gas leak. It didn't hurt my feelings at all, but a life threatening mistake should at least be accompanied by an ""I'm sorry about that.""
3. Upon framing in the fireplace insert and installing light fixtures above it, I noticed they did not correctly tie in / tap the wiring for the fireplace. They did not use a junction box (which is standard code). They kept my existing plastic receptacle box and attached (directly off the outlet [not up to code] ). They also used 14gauge wire, connecting it to the 12gauge wire that was hooked up. This is hooked up to a 20amp breaker which is a serious hazard. Clearly, they did not check to see what size breaker was installed in that portion of the house. The 14 gauge wire they installed for the new fireplace cannot thermally handle a 20amp breaker. It's not up to code and more importantly it is DANGEROUS and would have started an electrical fire inevitably. I'm glad I noticed this before framing the fireplace in and enclosing it . Had I paid them to build me a mantle, I would have never seen the work (or lack of) they did and I most likely would have had a house fire.

I cannot speak for the competency of every employee at Harding Plumbing and Heating with this review, but there were a solid crew of 4-6 guys working at my house and major safety and functionality issues were overlooked. I am a business owner myself and know that you can't please everybody. However, this is not a case of someone asking impossible things or expecting the best for bottom dollar. Again, to reiterate, we purchased the best they had to offer. If I wanted the worry, headache and grief that came with this job, I would have done it myself. I hired this company to do things the right way the first time, safe and up to code. After all, they are the professionals. I paid for their services instantly at the end of the (first) day and was told after the payment they needed to come back to finish up and that's when the problems began.

Based on the other reviews I have read, everyone else seems to have had better luck. I am writing this review because potential clients/customers need to know of the potential issues that could arise. I really feel like every time I contact them, they cringe. I guess that's my fault for dropping $8500 on their top of the line equipment, paying a contractor top dollar to have the job done right and then finding out they could have killed me and my family through either Carbon Monoxide Poisoning or a electrical fire or both! Pretty disappointing to say the least. I cannot recommend this company to anyone looking for an enjoyable purchase, installation or peace of mind that everything is done right up to code and safe.
