I contacted Hardenburgh plumbing on Monday December 1st around 9 am to resolve a faulty shower handle issue. He said he would come by at 4:30 that afternoon. I was not able to be there so I asked my father to wait for him at that time, Ted did not call nor did he show up at 4:30, instead he called at 6 stating that he was on the way and that he """"ran over"""" on another job. Ultimately my Dad left, pretty upset that he waited around for nothing. He showed up around 6:20. At first he seemed nice, however he quickly started to ask me lots of personal questions that made me uncomfortable, about my job, life, family, he started looking at stuff in my garage and asking if it was for sale. He spent 15 minutes trying to buy my mower from me. I was trying to be polite so I """"played nice"""" showed it to him but rejected his $75 offer on a $300 mower. I just needed him to fix my shower. Ted moved very slow. He eyeballed the handle, dismantled it in about 10 minutes, and said he needed to go buy some parts and would return tomorrow. He said he had to go to Miami the next day and would be back again at night during dinner time. He left round 7pm Monday night after working for 20 minutes and chatting the rest of the time. He showed up Tuesday night at 6 PM, I was not home yet so my wife greeted him. He chatted her up also asking more questions of my wife and really making her feel uncomfortable, as he is about 6'5"""", and she was alone with him at the time. I got home a few minutes later and noticing how slow he was moving offered to help anyway that I could to get the job completed. He worked for about an hour replacing the cartridge, as I fed my kids, did their homework and tried to get them ready for bed, not easy to do when you have a needy, chatty plumber in your house. By 7 pm the cartridge was replaced but there was very little pressure. Ted kept stating that he could not figure out why, there was no pressure and insisted that there must be a rock in the supply line. He stated that he had never seen this before in his 40 years of plumbing and would have to come back again to open the supply lines and flush out the alleged rock. He said he needed to cut a hole in my wall to get to the lines. We agreed that this was a job for another day. I asked him to come first thing in the morning as to not ruin my evening with my family for a third day. He agreed he would be there by 9 am. Wednesday morning at 10 am I received a call from Ted stating that he lost his phone, he asked me if I had seen it and then insinuated that it might have gotten stolen out of his work van in our gated neighborhood. He then went into a long winded story about an error at his bank, that he needed to resolve and disconnecting his phone so that his personal information would not get taken, and that he needed to resolve all of this before coming to my house to work. I asked him how long that would be and he said he would be there by noon forcing me to reschedule meetings that I had that day. Noon rolled around and I got another call from Ted, again complaining about his bank and his phone and promising me he would be there as soon as he could, I explained that I needed to leave at 2:30 and that he needed to finish before then, knowing that he could not get that done, he asked me again if he could come by at 6 PM, not what I wanted to hear. I asked my wife to try to get home early, as I would be out, and she said she would do her best. She got home at 6:10, Ted was here, he walked into the house, looked at the shower handle through the hole that I had already cut for him in my wall, then said, ooh, looks like you have a small leak, I need to go get another part, and will be back. By the time I arrived at 6:40, Ted was not here yet, and no work had been done. At this point I was finished with his inconveniences. Not having any idea of how much he charges, nor ever receiving an estimate for the work, I wrote a check out for $50, left it at the guard gate, and asked him to deny Ted's entrance. Ted came back from the home depot by 7pm, less than 1/2 a mile away, he immediately called me telling me that I had ripped him off and yelling at me through the phone. I explained that, I had no contract, or estimate with him and had no idea what he was due, if anything, at that point. He then claimed that he had been here for 3 hours at $75 per hour and that the part was 80 dollars and I owed him for all of that even though, I still had a hole in my wall and a non working shower. I offered him 1.5 hours labor, which is what he actually worked, and the cost of the part. He refused that amount threatening me if I did not pay. I have sent Ted payment for 1.5 hours plus the cost of the part, and will need to hire someone else to finish the job in a timely fashion. Not a good experience from this company.

Ted Hardenburgh was great! He was helping me after hours at 10pm at night when I had a major leak in my home. He offered to drive out to my house. Then he walked me through how to turn off my water. He made feel very safe. He went above and beyond what I asked. I will always have Ted in my phone for plumbing needs.

I was surprised with some other reviews i had read but i did do my homework with more recent reviews of the companies work. Ted did a very good job replacing my water heater in my garage. His price was fair and he took his time in completing the work and making sure the unit worked properly with no leaks. Of utmost importance as well was getting out to my home in a reasonable time to do the work. I would easily use Ted again.

Called to have a shower cartridge replaced. Gave my address and the next day I get 6 phone calls for directions(he's been here before). Said he was here at 7:30 , but there is no record on my cameras .( it was a lie) Owning a business and not having the simplest gps direction in use. ( that started the aggravation). Was told he had to go get the part. Ok more phone calls about how difficult it is to find a common cartridge. When finally arriving arriving with cartridge, I get an earful of how far he had to go to get it. Replaces cartridge after using my tools, and I'm the designated flashlight holder at this point.... blah, blah, blah. He talks too much, I wanted the work done not a non stop gab session. Now to top off the aggravation he doesn't even know how to put it all back together.... it works but not all parts were put back. I want his ass gone so I shrug this off as a minor repair I can do myself. Now the icing on the cake, he tells me it's 260$. I did research prior and part is $50-60$. He wanted to mark up the part with labor of 20 minutes of actual work, and part pickup over 400%!!! . By this time I've had enough and tell him he is grossly overcharging ( ripping me off) where he goes on a rant about how he had to drive to palm beach gardens . I kicked him out of the house, then he reduced the price by 100$ . I paid and he says """" lose my number"""" .... have no idea how this thief is still in business, I guess by overcharging .... 20 minutes later he's back.... he left his cell phone in the shower.... what a boob UPDATE TO REVIEW 4 days later I get angry harassing text messages DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! This idiot is bad news

I had a pipe burst in my yard this morning. Water was spewing from it and I had no way to turn it off. I called a number of plumbers.... some told me they could be there tomorrow- really. Ted from Hardenburgh got there within 2 hours- did a great job and charged me a very fair price for emergency repair. Highly recommend.

I called this company, Ted, to unclog the main drain of my apartment. He said that it would be $272. After coming one hour late, and do a job that took him less than half hour, he told me that he was going to charge me $100 to replace his old tool! I was in shock, I'm still in shock! In all my life I've never heard that you have to pay for the job, and for his tools! It wasn't a smart move as he didn't loose one client, but, several clients, as I have a lot of friends, and I know a lot of people from my job, and, I would never recommend him.

Waited 2 hours past the appointment time. Upon arrival, he did not have the part. He left again for nearly an hour. He never discussed the fees until the work was done. I was surprised at his charges. He claimed he told me what the charges would be, but I never heard him do so.

Ted came out today with just a short notice to help out with my kitchen plumbing and water main. He was friendly, professional and did a great job and cleaned up afterwards, something my last plumber didn't do. I would recommend him to friends and family and I am having him back out in a few months when I begin remodeling our bathroom.
