My two experiences with Happy Sam's have been great, and I highly recommend this company for plumbing service.

I discovered that water was leaking under the house, and I wanted to take care of the problem as soon as possible. I remembered that Happy Sam's had come out to do a fairly small, simple job for me a couple of years prior. I had been so satisfied with their work that I decided to call them right away for this newer, more serious issue as well. The company came out an hour or two later, and they did a thorough inspection. They took photos and showed me not only which pipe was leaking but also which of the other pipes had become unreliable and might be worth replacing. I opted for a fairly extensive re-piping project, but using better quality materials than were already present, and in more areas of the house than were affected by the initial leak.

The company gave me a very reasonable price for the whole job. The work was done by different crews in different parts of the house simultaneously, so that everything was completed quickly. Since there was continual supervision and inspection, I felt confident that the work was taking place on schedule and that the company was committed to doing the job properly.

I'm very pleased with Happy Sam's, and I definitely recommend them to anyone who's looking for a reliable plumbing service that's competent, conscientious, and fairly-priced.

Sketchy plumber. Sam's done two small jobs for us that seemed slightly overpriced. He's very friendly and runs a good team, but we were always a little suspicious.

This weekend he confirmed our suspicions. He came on Saturday to inspect a gas leak and quoted me $900 (inspection included) to repair one joint in my gas line. I told him I wanted to get a competitive bid and he told me that if he didn't do the work, he'd have to charge me $380 for the inspection.

This morning he called and told me he didn't want to do the work anymore. We currently have a local plumber recommended by Altadena Hardware who's doing the job for $450, including inspection, and he even found three more leaking joints. Told me if he just charged for the inspection, it would be $150.

Sam is nice, but definitely tries to take advantage if he thinks he can.

UPDATE: Sam also quoted me an additional $2600 to replace the original gas line from our house to the detached garage. The other plumber we're working with is doing this PLUS the other four leaks on the house line for $1500 TOTAL.

UPDATE 2 (since I can't respond below): Just to clarify, the complaints in this review have nothing to do with the quality of their work, or the level of professionalism of his team. They were totally great on those two points.

My issue is that this was a very obvious price gouge in an emergency situation, and then they backed out once they found out I was getting competitive offers, and tried to blame it on me because for a minute I told him I thought they might have caused the leak (which for the record, they absolutely did not cause). I also sincerely apologized for the misunderstanding.

Incredibly disappointing to be told it would cost $3700 to repair the leak and replace the gas line to the garage, and find out later that an honest plumber only charges $1500 for the same work.

Great work, friendly team and fair pricing! Kitchen sink was clogging here and there for quite some time. Finally decided to contact a plumber. Sam and his team were able to come out the same day I called and were able to clear the clogged kitchen pipes. They even took the time to wipe down the cabinets under the sink once they were done. Highly recommend and would definitely use them again.

Highly recommend Happy Sam's for plumbing service! I gave them a call to see if they could come out to take a look at our plumbing since I suspected there might a leak somewhere since I heard water sounds in the pipes even when we weren't using any shower, etc.

They actually came out only like an hour later, did a thorough examination of the crawlspace under our house and actually found multiple issues that needed to be repaired. They took pictures of each issue to show me what was wrong and offered to get started right away. Since there were 3 different issues (including one big leak) they worked until about 7pm.

After they were complete, they showed me the pipes they had taken out as well as pictures of the new installations.

Again, I'd highly recommend this plumbing service. The technicians were friendly, thorough, and knowledgable. After the job, the owner even stopped by to make sure that everything was good and was also very friendly. All this and very fast and reasonably priced.

Alvia, THANK YOU for sending Sam and his crew to help me with my sewage backing up into my showers on a Saturday. I greatly appreciated Sam's fast response, quickly diagnosing of the problem, laying a floor covering (that pink heavy paper stuff) to keep my floors unscratched and clean, fixing the problem, cleaning up and taking out the leftover trash.

Everyone was polite, courteous and did their job well. I really appreciate the clean up of what was their before they showed up and after everything got fixed.

When I need a plumber again you will be the first I call to come and save the day.

The service was impeccable, and so professional, I was so pleased with the work that they had done. I would recommend them to anyone. They had to remove the ceiling in my kitchen due to a plumbing issue, And when they were done you could never tell that anything took place.. I was so pleased with the work. The management is top of the line as well, Some of the best customer service I have received in a long time.. They also did a great clean up job. They left it spotless.
