My 16-year old water heater has been on the fritz recently (intermittently stops providing hot water), and I had a theory that it was related to scale buildup from hard water and put out a request.

Hansen Family responded to my Yelp project request in minutes and asked if I wanted someone sent out day-of (I actually requested the next day because that was way sooner than I was expecting.)

The next day, Robert came out to inspect the water heater. Ahead of his arrival, Hansen sent over a picture of Robert and a bio - I never would have thought to do this, but it made me way more comfortable as the person who acts as the household point of contact for techs.

Robert flushed and descaled the system, and mentioned a program that Hansen offers that discounts services and provides an inspection of plumbing throughout the house. We've been meaning to have the plumbing inspected, so I was happy to bundle that in to the water heater maintenance.

I'm a curious person (... maybe annoyingly so) - I followed him around asking questions. (If we installed an RO system could we run it to the fridge? Do you need an RO system if you do carbon filtration? Are outdoor spigots connected to the house? Who maintains fire sprinklers?) He was happy to answer all of them, and shared some great stories about situations he had encountered in the field. Super friendly guy!

The idea that the water heater needed to be descaled was just my best guess as someone unfamiliar with water heaters, and Robert was transparent that while descaling the system might help, in his professional opinion it probably wasn't the cause of the issue. (Unfortunately he was right, and the issue was not resolved - but he did a great job setting expectations so we weren't upset by the outcome.)

My water heater (Noritz) wasn't a model Hansen installs or services, but Robert said the unit itself was great and wasn't pushy about replacing my existing water heater. He even offered to look for OEM replacement parts for a noisy exhaust fan - for those of you who aren't familiar with servicing obsolete equipment, that can be a HUGE undertaking.

He provided an estimate for a replacement as well as an estimate for a water softener - I don't think their website reflects it, but Hansen does install/maintain water softeners and filtration systems, which I was happy to hear.

My one critique is with their estimate system: I was told upfront that they use a flat-rate price book system (which can feel a little shady for people who are used to detailed estimates with lots of line items - but from what I understand, it's becoming more common in the industry.) However, the number was a flat $X,000 number, which had Arrested Development ""how much could a banana cost, $10?"" vibes that felt a little off.

Additionally, I've worked in technical equipment sales, so on quotes/estimates I'd expect to see components broken out with information like make/model number - which still should be possible with flat-rate pricing; you just bundle pricing and don't put individual prices for components. The water softener estimate listed out features/advantages of the system (which in my opinion doesn't belong on an estimate), but it contained so little relevant information that I wasn't clear on whether I was being quoted on just a water softener or a water softener AND carbon filter system. If it's only a softener, it's pretty expensive.

I also requested info like manuals/install guides/tech specs for the water heater and water softener systems and it sounds like they don't keep those on hand, which was a little odd to me.

Overall great customer experience, but I feel that their pricing could be more transparent with respect to estimates providing more relevant information and less sales jargon.

The best service! So many pro's. First, setting an appointment was a breeze. You get a text. The day of the appointment, you get a text with a picture and bio of the plumber that you are scheduled with.

Second, our plumber showed up on time, super personable and extremely knowledgeable. Our bathroom is in need of a remodel and he worked to get us a simple fix at a very reasonable price.

While we were quoted $1800 from one plumber, the work was done for under $400. We are very pleased. This is our second time using Hansen. We decided no more searching, they are going to be our go to from here on.

Get the second opinion people, try them. We have not been disappointed with their work and will recommend them for sure!

I reached out to Hansen Family Plumbing for a clogged tub drain and a leaky garbage disposal. They were super responsive. Service tech Chad showed up the next day and quickly diagnosed my issues and had them fixed within the hour. Chad was super personable and helpful. I'll be sure to use their service again!

Great company, I will definitely use them again. I called for a garbage disposal replacement - Dillon was friendly and professional, and very helpful with pricing options. As a whole, I found Hansen extremely professional, communicative, transparent and speedy! They sent a tech out right away for a free quote and were able to come back the next morning for installation. They would have been able to install that day had we chosen to purchase a disposal through them, but they offered us the option to purchase our own disposal from Home Depot (which would be less expensive) and then return next day to install it. Thank you Hansen!!

Repair or replace shower knob that wouldn't pull out or push in. I think his name was Mark but I'm not sure. He was professional, friendly and he knew what the problem was. He didn't guess at the problem. He knew it was the cartridge in the shower knob. I would contact Hansen again for any future plumbing issues. I believe this company is a Veteran Owned Company and if it is please tell him that I thank him for his service to our country and for being safe and for being loyal. Thank you

Had hot water tank go out. Robert & Mike from Hansen Family Plumbing was on site early next day & replaced the tank. They were experienced courteous and efficient. Would highly recommend handsome, plumbing for any emergency repairs..

We've used Hansen Family Plumbing twice and had a great experience both times. Chad was our technician and he was phenomenal! Very knowledgeable and made sure we understood the situation. He did a great job and even cleaned our sinks after he unclogged them! So nice and I would highly recommend!

Chad was awesome! We originally messed around with someone who ended up not being qualified enough to install a toilet. When I called Hansen plumbing they sent out Chad and he fixed all the issues the previous guy left us with. Highly recommend this company!!

The tech showed up on time and was very nice. He got the job done. It was not the most inexpensive option but my problem is now solved. I ended up calling them again for my other property and the quote was double what I got from another company. Did not end up hiring them because my father was able to fix it for a fraction of the price. I'd say get a few quotes before going with them but they are nice and speedy.
