Hansen Family Plumbing -- ""The plumbing family you can trust!"" I was raised in the plumbing industry! My Dad was a plumber from the time I was 1 yr old and later spent years as a plumber and branch manager for a reputable company before starting his own plumbing venture. I have been by his side for as long as I remember.

I consider my experience to date from when I was eight. At that age, I recall installing my first faucet and soldering a fitting for a client, supervised by my dad.

I launched my career in plumbing in 2005 with Roto Rooter Plumbing and in 2009, I made the decision to team up with my dad in our plumbing company. I have expertise in all plumbing domains, such as commercial, residential, and service.

Absolutely amazing service and response time. We went to bed with a busted water heater and by noon the next day we were fixed. The technicians were friendly and informative, and the office personnel worked to accommodate our hectic work-from-home schedules. I will always call Hansen Family for our plumbing needs...and you should too!

Fantastic experience! They were on time, the price was fair, and the technician, Robert, was knowledgeable, and friendly. They cleaned up after the work. They will definitely be my go to for future needs.

Robert came out and took a look at some issues we have been having with our garbage disposal and drains backing -up. He was extremely professional and thoroughly fixed what he needed to. The price was very fair and I would highly recommend Hansen Plumbing for future plumbing needs.

We received more terrific service from Hansen Family Plumbing. This time Preston was our tech. We needed a new valve for our ice maker and a new toilet. Preston was very upbeat and provided good communication about the repairs. He finished them in a timely manner and did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. If we need more plumbing help, we would definitely request Preston for the work!

This review is for the repair service that took place on 10/11/2023 completed by Preston M.

The issue:
We had a corroded and leaked galvanized steel riser that serviced our house. The riser was angled 90 degree for about 3' at the bottom end to T up with the PVC water main. So as prep work we dug up the ground to expose and to remove the steel pipe joining the water main, cut out the coupler and removed the riser. We were hoping it would be less work for the tech and cheaper. Nope.

The good:
From the moment I picked up the phone to search on yelp, to decide on calling Hansen Family, to talk to the scheduler gal, to receive a confirmation email/text appointment for next day from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, to receive a pre-arrival technician bio text the next morning were nothing short of pleasant, assuring, and relieved.

So Preston arrived at 8:04 AM (not knocking just stating for the review) and was professional. Nice guy. We walked him to the side of the house, and explained how far we attempted to fix the issue and will need help the rest of the way. He explained how he will repair it (see ""After"" picture for his final work) and quoted us $1425. Final price was $1325 with $100 discount. He said he would be there 3-4 hours. ok.

The bad:
The PRICE and 1 thing not matching with what the tech said during quoting and what the invoice said--will get to that later. I have a pet peeve for things not lining up afterward.

So Preston was completely done by 10:30 AM including 20-30 minutes of waiting for the glue to dry up before turning the water back on. He did good work. No issue so far. Crossing my fingers.

But how is 2.5 hours (if you fairly start from the moment he arrived at 8:04 AM) totaled up to $1325. If they are charging by the hour plus gas, overhead, parts, etc., that would come out to 441$/hour for 3 hours minimum? yikes. We did most of the prep work by digging up the hole and removing the existing pipes. 441$ is more than what doctor and engineer make.

Or he just came up with the $1425 ($1325 final) by experience? I feel that there should be a more transparent way to come up with the price. I know I know its their business I don't have to accept the deal. Just a hard pill to swallow.

Oh yes during the quoting conversation, Preston said the warranty for parts/labor/his work is 2 years but the invoice said 1 year. So which one is it? I can't prove the conversation so I guess the invoice is the final binding?

One last thing that annoyed me is I asked if Preston could cover the hole that we dug up afterward and he wanted to do it for $5. Dam after quoting me 1425$ you trying to squeeze more-for 5 measly bucks? To be FAIR to Preston,
he did ask if I want to cover it at the end, whether for free or for 5$ I don't know-I didn't ask.

Final thoughts:

I agreed to the price so I will live with it. A business is about making money but when everything is about money is a turn off. When you are in a rush to get water back you are incline to agree to anything. Plumbers know it. Its a expensive trade. Next time I will get more quotes. Lesson learned.

Highly recommend Hansen Family Plumbing and Air. I have used them for both services. Every person from the office staff to the technicians who came to complete the service were friendly and very helpful. Prices were reasonable.

Great customer service before the appointment, both on the phone and via text. They send a text when the tech is on the way, complete with their photo and some personal info. Jerry, my tech, was prompt, friendly and honest.

My tub had started to back up even before I gave my dog a bath. I put drain cleaner down on Friday and they came on Monday. Jerry assessed my plumbing concerns, my drains were clear, we talked about the house's 70 year old cast iron pipes, and, because I don't plan to be in the house very long, we opted NOT to do any big exploring. And there was NO charge!

The main water line (galvanized pipe) split. Hansen's was the first company I contacted. Jerry arrived 4 hours ahead of scheduled late pm appointment, which was a blessing. He evaluated the scope of the problem and suggested a couple of different repair scenarios, one more extensive than the other. ultimately, we chose to replace the entire water line to the street. The repair took less than 2 hours. Jerry did one heck of a job. The front ditch was very narrow easy to back fill once he finished. I am pleased with the repair.
We did get a second quote from a second company, but their pricing was quite a bit higher. I am glad we chose Hansen's and am so glad to have running water again.

Logan was competent, hard working and pleasant. When he first arrived to gather information to provide a quote, Logan listened carefully to our desires for the project. He also provided good suggestions. He returned to complete the job in a timely and efficient manner. I highly recommend Hansen Family Plumbing!

They under sell you a price and when a tech gets there they tell you the real price.
Techs are awesome and the work is being done now. Not sure on the quality or longevity just yet. But I am reviewing this purely on business etiquette, moral and trustworthiness. Don't believe their toilet installation estimation! They will not be correct at all!
Techs are great though. Seem to know what they are doing and they have better character than the labeled owners on the chat.
