I was stressed about my condo, because I had just replaced the AC unit in the ceiling, and the AC company did not do drywall repair, so now I had a big scary hole above my head, and an unmuffled AC motor drowning out conversation.

I now know why Ricardo has many 5 star ratings.

He came by within a day of my call, listened patiently to my needs and demands (I was stressed and pushy, and he calmly helped me set proper expectations.) He had his estimate to me the day he promised, and he then was able to work with my schedule to get the job done, ahead of exceptions. (Sooner than I expected, and with less disruption to my life.)

I have a sneaky suspicion that Ricardo has figured out the secret to being a great businessman - under-promise and over-deliver - and I am glad, and would recommend him to anyone for jobs like this.

Seriously - if you need anything done and the house and are as un-handy as me, call Ricardo! He is THE BEST! At first I was really impressed with Ricardo - he came out at the scheduled time to give me a quote on all the work aorund the house I need done. He told me he would have to do the figures back at his place, but he'd get me a quote at the beginning of the next week.

That came and went so I emailed him to ask about the quote and heard nothing back.

He had a great reputation and I was counting on him to get some work done, but his lack of responsiveness for this job, which isn't exactly a tiny one, really soured me on this. Off to find another handyman.

This review is long overdue but well deserved! Our office needed a complete redesign and I'm so glad I chose Ricardo and his team to work with. Everything went smoothly and quickly-- initially Ricardo came to assess our needs for the office, sent me an estimate, and once we agreed upon the scope I signed the contract and we got to work! Ricardo and his team were early to every job, professional, and attentive to detail. They did a great job painting our office, installing a desk in our phoning room, and were accommodating when I made a mistake and changed my mind about something (sorry!). Put simply, Ricardo told me, ""he wouldn't be happy unless I was happy."" It was a pleasure working with Handyman Services and I would recommend Ricardo and his team for anyone looking to have a complete, professional, and satisfying job, with reasonable pricing.

I really want to give this company a better review, because in a lot of ways I liked them a lot. But the end result of the job has been a real problem because of the paint color.

Full story: I found them on Yelp and contacted them to paint my rental condo. It was short notice, and Ricardo was very responsive. He checked out the space, gave me a quote that seemed fair, and was able to schedule the painting the same week. The plan was for them to repaint the unit in the same off-white color.

When they started painting, he called me and said there was a problem with the paint he bought, and he wanted me to come check it out before they continued. They had painted the first coat in a small patch in the bedroom. He said the color was slightly ""lighter/brighter"" than the prior paint. From the small patch they'd done, it did look a bit different, but not in a way that seemed to matter. As long as it was on the same color spectrum, I didn't really care if it was one shade darker or lighter, so I told him to go ahead and continue painting.

I didn't hear any more from Ricardo until after the unit was fully painted with two coats. When I went to check it out, it turned out the paint had a very distinct PINK tint. I'm not very picky, but pink is just totally not an acceptable color in any rental apartment. It was particularly terrible in the kitchen, because of the contrast with the tan cabinets. I contacted Ricardo and told him about the problem. He offered to repaint the kitchen white at no extra charge, which he did the next day. After that, I started trying to get the apartment rented and had no takers. Normally, the apartment rents very quickly. I emailed him again and told him the pink walls seemed to be making the apartment un-rentable. He didn't reply to that message. So at this point, I'm pretty unhappy.

Everything else about Ricardo and his company were great - they're responsive, skilled and efficient. I don't know how this paint color thing happened - since they're the professionals, they should have known how it would look after the full two coats. I'm very frustrated with the result, and it's costing me money.
