Car I.A tree branch fell and took out a section of our wood fence. The person who I normally call to help out with our house was not returning my calls. I went to Yelp and typed in fence for South Lake Tahoe. Was just about to call a company when I thought, I did not look at the reviews. After looking at the reviews, I am glad I did not call this fence company. I noticed that Handy Man Hotline had great reviews so I called.
While I was on the phone with the woman scheduling the repair, I also noticed in the list of items said that they ""rake"". I scheduled the repair for the fence as well as a rake for all our pine needles. The following day when I was waiting the arrival of our Handy Man, I received a phone call that stated there was a miscommunication with the schedule. I received an apology and was told that my repair would be done the following day.
In the past, I have experienced miscommunication with scheduling service and waited until I had to call and follow up. In this case, the phone call at the time I was waiting for service went a long way!
The gentleman who repaired my fence and raked the pine needles was very polite, worked hard and did a phenomenal job. I offered him water, something to drink and he smiled and said, no thank you, I have water with me.
After the job was done, I received an invoice via email. On the invoice was a ""pay now button"" and I was able to pay right away with a credit card. From start to finish, my experience was great.
Handyman Hotline Tahoe is a very professional business. James Fain provided estimates that were reasonable. He also sent precise time and material invoices daily. I was kept informed on a daily basis of the project's progress. Before & after pictures were shown. All the workers were polite and considerate and willing to talk about how they were going to do the project. Rudy even had helpful suggestions on how to do a future project. I am already planning to use Handyman Hotline Tahoe for 2 other projects.
We have had James and crew do several projects
for us. He is always responsive and provides quality work within budget. He was able to get permits through the city where another contractor failed. Our last project was a small deck modification, Done in 2 days and looks great. If James can't do it he knows someone who can. Best thing about James, he builds things like he is going to live there. Can't give him a higher rating than that.
Paul B.James and team have helped me over the years with my vacation homes. He is always responsive and has been very flexible in odd time and urgent requests. He also gives real advice on what is needed versus what is required. He also had fair rates. His team is knowledgeable and very fair. If you need a handyman in tahoe I would recoomend these folks.
Responsive, professional and quality work are the summary for Handyman Hotline.
We've done several projects with Handyman Hotline (HH) including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and each time the results have met/ exceeded expectations. James Fain and his team at HH are fully licensed, easy to work with and communicate in a timely manner.
One of the major projects was replacement of rotting front stairs & back deck that required coordination with an engineer and SLT building dept. Each day we received a status report and photos of work performed. The end result turned out even nicer than the photos, and passed inspection with no issue. It is the attention to detail, as well as cleaning-up after work is complete, that differentiate HH from other contractors.
Almost forgot to mention HH provides snow removal service. Their rates are very competitive and do a better job than two prior SLT outfits with whom we previously worked.
If you are considering any sort of home improvements, I highly recommend James & Handyman Hotline as the place to start.
We love Handyman Hotline! We've used them twice and both experiences were great. They are reliable, easily reached and promptly provide service at affordable prices and quality work. They are our ""go-to"" handyman service in SLT for our vacation rental. Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!
Patrick D.I had a broken toilet seat at my vacation cabin and was looking around for a local handyman. I called around to numerous places, but they didn't bother calling me back. James called back and was able to fix my issue the same day. I also had them replace all the batteries in the smoke detectors too. James was great and easy to work with. I will definitely call them back to build a deck.
Roy A.I just had a home project done by Handyman Hotline. James and his crew were very professional to work with. They were very prompt, reliable and constantly kept me informed. Despite bad weather conditions, they went out and did the job on a short notice to accommodate my schedule. It's great to work with a contractor that diligently takes note of all details of your project, however small they may be, in order to get the job right the first time. They also kept me up-to-date with both phone & email communication. I really appreciate them sending me a detailed breakdown of the work on a daily basis. A real pleasure to work with and I know I'll be working with them again on upcoming projects.
James and his crew and contractors are doing an outstanding job on our home renovations. They are doing an excellent job remodeling our bath, bedroom, kitchen and living room. They have done electrical work, plumbing, framing, tile, hardwood, drywall, window and cabinet installation, painting, faux finishing, and more. They are always on time, clean up daily, respectful, and pleasant. I strongly recommend them and will hire them again--soon!
Kris K.So sorry to be terribly disappointed after reading such great reviews. After sending a fairly thorough description of the repairs I need, I never heard back. This lack of response is just why we think handymen and contractors are such untrustworthy flakes.
PLEASE contractors, if you do not want the job, tell us. If you are too busy, tell us. If this is a type of work you do not handle, refer us to someone else. You will not hurt our feelings, you will earn our respect.
Chalk up another 25 year local who will be telling as many homeowners as possible to use someone else, you cannot count on this company.
