My house was built in 1912, and when we bought it, it was clear that the exterior side door had seen heavy use for a long time. In fact, the door was practically falling to pieces, barely opened, didn't have a deadbolt that latched, and was secured by the type of interior flip-over bar that you see in hotel rooms. It certainly wasn't usable! Clearly, this needed to be addressed.
We first had a custom wood door made, sized a little bit big to allow for fitting. But of course, it needed to be installed, and the door frame, threshold, etc. were all in rough shape. Now, the husband is a handy guy, but it was pretty obvious that this project was way above his pay grade. I called ten different handyman services and half of them didn't even call me back, but Bill promptly returned my message and made an appointment to come actually look at the job (I didn't trust anyone giving an estimate from a texted photo!). It was clear from that visit that Bill really understood what was involved and was both able and willing to do a quality job, which was very reassuring. He emailed a nicely detailed estimate, and I was able to put a deposit on a credit card online. Bill was also very easy to reach via text message, which was great.
It took a month or two to get worked into Bill's schedule (weather didn't help, as this couldn't be done in the rain), but once he got started, he made our job his top priority. All in all, it took something like five days and involved building a new (square) door frame, fitting and hanging the new door, putting in and keying the knob and deadbolt, installing a new threshold, painting the door, frame, and trim, and even filling in the concrete and caulking along the edge of the house to help prevent water from coming in. I can't even begin to describe all the skills it took to make this happen, and the end result is a GORGEOUS, FUNCTIONAL door that I can't wait to actually use.
Needless to say, I can't recommend Bill highly enough. If you want something done right and you're willing to pay for quality, give him a call! I've already got another job in mind for Bill, and he will definitely be my go-to handyman in the future. I can't imagine letting anyone else work on my house!

Bill is awesome!!! He did a tricky project for me that involved meshing an area of my home which is 90 years old with a new transition and molding. It looks like it has always been there. He is professional, courteous and sow higher quality work! I will use him again for home projects.

Our new house had no towel bars, hand towel bars, or toilet paper holders, so we had Bill install ones we bought. He did a great job and all are mounted sturdily and level. He also hung several sets of curtain rods, two door viewers, and built a replacement step/landing for the door that leads into the house from the garage. The one we had was too small and he replaced it with one he built by hand and it is extremely well-built and looks great!
Very high quality work, does what he says he will do, and does it when he says he will do it. Might be a slight bit more expensive than your average handyman, but you definitely get what you pay for.

After the 4th project I had to tell everyone that HMBill is the real deal. I tell all my friends that if they can't fix it to call Bill. I highly recommend Handyman Bill Can.

This is an update to a previous review. I had Bill out to my house a few times and he has always done good work. However, he subbed out a job that was supposed to be a few easy things. One of the things was a shower faucet replacement. I knew he would need to go into a wall on the other side of the shower and that was not a problem. However, he talked me into replacing all the plumbing from the upstairs to the basement and said it would be ""easy"" with only one more hole in the living room necessary. After 3 days of work, I had 4 holes in my walls, one shower had no water and the other had only hot water. And he switched the hot and cold to the shower that had hot water only. I finally called AB May and they were able to fix his mess in one day with 2 more holes in the ceiling of the living room at a price of $1300. For some reason, the sub cut the pipes to the second shower and never reconnected them. When I asked the sub why there was no water to the other shower, he tried to tell me the lines were clogged and he could redo the plumbing, but would need to go into the floor of the bedroom. Now, as I repair the holes, I am discovering how bad he butchered the walls when he made the holes (plaster walls). These are not clean, even holes that are going to be easy to patch. Based on this, I would not recommend as I trusted him to send someone that would do a good job in his place.

I asked to have a quote for some floor installation and a couple of other repairs in my home. Bill came and did the walkthrough, made notes, took pictures, made suggestions-all very professional. When he was leaving I asked if he would email me a quote and he said yes. That was over 2 weeks ago and I have not heard a word. I would not recommend.

Bill was one of the BEST handyman's I have worked with. We were in process of selling our home and we received the inspection report that needed few things done as fast as possible, since we were relocating to a different state. Bill understood our situation and worked to fit our schedule in. 1. He reviewed our inspection report and details of the work that was needed. Based on that he gave us a quote. I requested he come to my house to look and give a fixed estimate as my realtor needed that info to present to the buyer. He accommodated that request and come and he was able to give me the fixed estimate in a very timely manner. 2. Once I hired him, he was able to fit us in within a week and come to do the work on a Sunday. He was very organized - used email and texting to alert the process. He is able to take multiple forms of payment. He is a very experience individual in this industry. Bill was organized, prompt and very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend him for future use.

Bill runs such a genuine business. He truly cares about his work, is incredibly reliable and does such a great job at any task you give him. I will continue to utilize his services and would recommend him a hundred times over. I know I can always count on him to fix whatever I need around the house!
