They did a remodel Shower Tile job---they never installed a shower pan liner --first time using the "new shower" it poured through the ceiling below like a faucet! It wrecked the ceiling below, and the hardwood floor below. Cost a fortune to rip everything they did out and start again.

We have been using Handy Dan for many years here in Dallas, Texas. It's hard to find a very nice, respectful, talented handyman that you can depend on - and at a great price... José Villareal from Handy Dan was our go-to handyman from 2012 - 03/2015 for two different homes. He always showed up on time, was communicative, and did a professional job on a wide variety of services - such as repairing water damage to dry wall, fixing a door frame, building us a custom fence with metal posts, fixed plumbing issues, repaired widow, carpentry, painting, and probably more that I'm forgetting. In other words, we were lucky to find José and are very sad to not be able to use his services anymore, as we are moving away from Dallas. So, the very least we could do was to write him a good review for others to see.

Lou Olerio so severely under budgeted our house remodel it nearly financially ruined us. His project management staff was a 3 ring circus of incompetency and Lou was too busy to return calls. Steer clear from any business with his name associated.

I'm one of their tenants in a 4-plex unit off Worth St. I have to say they are the worst property manager I've dealt with. Lou Olerio Co., also doing business as Handy Dan. They don't communicate; the staff are bunch of incompetents. It takes them months to fix problems, they don't care about the health risk of their tenants; dead rat, molds, mosquitoes, leaking roof & floor...just want you to pay rent on time. And when they do send their contractors out, it's the duo team of dumb and dumber. I want to share my experience and warn others.

I have used Handy Dan for several projects now and so far I have been happy with the work done. I have had a re-scheduled appointment once, but it wasn't a big deal and the phone handler was very willing and helpful. I would recommend this company to my friends and neighbors especially because they will work Saturdays and stay late if needed. Thanks!

We had a number of projects that we needed to have done, including rehanging doors, installing lights, painting cabinets, etc. We've found their work to be really inconsistent. Two of the guys that came over to rehang doors did a terrible job, and actually damaged our wood floors, and the more senior repair guy had to go back and fix all of the work the best he could. The final work product was very mediocre. The more senior guy did some other work for me fixing the underside of the front porch roof and did a good job. We had a painter paint our cabinets and he did a good job.

While the work has been hit or miss, the thing I've been most unimpressed with has been the administrative part of Handy Dan. Thinking of them as a more formalized handyman service, I would expect them to be better with the back office stuff. However, all three invoices I've gotten have had issues where I've had to push back. They've been cooperative, but are just incompetent. The part that most frustrates me though is that when I do get the invoices, on all three there have been additional charges that were not on the bid, and I've had to argue with them to adjust. They have given no notice that there would be additional charges, most notably with the painting. Further, the bids only reflect labor, and materials are in addition. It's hard to get a sense of what the total will be, and there appears to be little accountability on how materials are rang up. We had to push back on materials for the painting, when we thought they were excessive. The staff said they'd get back to us on that, and it's been a month and still no response from them.

Overall, I would really have a hard time giving Handy Dan my endorsement to anyone to use them.

I thought I hit the jackpot getting a Saturday appointment. I planned my entire day around Handy Dan. They never showed up and got a voicemail when I tried to call the office. Dan needs to get a watch and some integrity. Take my word for it, dont waste your time.
