Found these guys doing an internet search and placed a request for a job at their online site. A week later they get a hold of me and make an appointment for an estimate for the next day at 4 pm. I also receive an email to confirm the next day appointment shortly after I got off the phone in which I confirmed. Got home at 3:30 from work and Waited an hour and a half before calling their number to find out what's going on. No one one called me to let me know they weren't coming or were at least going to be late. I get their after hour number and provided my information. And asked said, so the technician isn't coming? I get a sarcastic response for and legitimate question. She seemed annoyed and said she was an after hours persons in a smart as way and then said thank you in a super smart ass way. I'm a 20 year retired veteran so I thought I'd work with a veteran owned company thinking I'd get great service. Not so much. Need to have their phone operators check their smart ass way they talk to people. Veteran owned or not if you talk to people like that you lose business. 100% non-recommend this business. ZERO Stars! Good job making a veteran company look bad Ms. After Hour Phone Service Lady. *************** Update: An estimator showed up but almost two hours late. I still gave them a chance so I showed them what I needed fixed. Great guy by the way and seemed knowledgeable. And a manager contacted me and offered me $100 of the job. Received the quote back and it's was over $1100. With more than half being in scaffolding rental set up and tear down. Come on man! That's like you saying yin can do the job but I need to go rent a hammer so it'll cost you $20 more....dafuq. Anyways I received quotes from other companies and I'm going with one of them. Received a quote for $500 which is more than half of what this company is asking. Terrible customer service when it comes to the ""After Hours Phone Operator Lady"". ....that's what she said she was...""I'm only the...."". LOL. And way too over priced.

By far the best contractors I have had the privilege of working with while living in Hawaii. They are quick to respond, take pride in their work, and if it's not right the first time-they'll fix it. I've worked with about 4 different contractors over my years as a home owner, Handy Andy's is the only contractor I've called back for additional work. They are upfront and transparent with pricing. They also work with you when scheduling. Highly Recommended.

I have used Handy Andy twice so far and am very impressed with the workers that service us. Today Jordan patched a drywall hole, painted and sanded it and installed a shower head with an attachment he suggested I buy for my purposes. He was polite, efficient, did a fantastic job, cleaned up, was on time and made me a happy camper. The five stars is for him. I have had issues with the office staff in the past (e.g. not returning phone calls, etc), So would rate them separately.

I called Handy Andy with several projects totaling a few thousand dollars worth of work. My call was forwarded to a mainland answering service, and that person was friendly, helpful, and professional. Three days later I received voicemail from Handy Andy, who provided a different callback number and an email address. I tried calling first but there was only a strange outgoing message that said something like, ""Update your IBR message from your air account,"" and it didn't allow me to leave a message. So I emailed but didn't receive a reply after several days, and then resent my original message and waited three more days, but they still failed to respond. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression, and given such extremely poor responsiveness prior to spending or committing any money with them, I can only imagine how awful it must be to deal with these people when they have you on the hook and there's any sort of problem with a job. I should have read the Yelp reviews first! 10/11/19 Update: Having read the response from Michelle at Handy Andy, I'll note again that it was several calls and emails (not just calls) that went unanswered, and had Michelle replied to even one of those messages, there wouldn't be a problem. And she could have replied within a couple-three days of any of those messages -- it didn't even need to be immediate, like her response to my Yelp review was. In fact, it's been another day since Michelle chimed in here, ample time to respond privately to any of our original messages, so that was another missed opportunity. I also wish to confirm that the phone number and email address that Michelle provided in her response are indeed the same ones that were used in multiple attempts to contact her business, spread out over roughly a week's time. And yes, this motivated me to sign up for a Yelp account.

I hired Handy Andy to install pantry shelves, and also got a quote to do an inside painting job. Although I ended up going with another painter due to their high pricing, I was very impressed with the Handy Andy team from the get go. Making an appointment was quick and easy over the phone. The dispatcher who I booked the appointment with, sent an Estimator to take measurements to give a quote. We received the estimate the same day, literally hours after the Estimator came by. My pantry shelves were picked up from Home Depot and installed in my home that same week. The job itself took less than an hour. Handy Andy hires predominantly Veterans, so hiring Handy Andy is a great way to support our Veterans. I recommend Handy Andy if you are looking for general contractors and handy professionals, and will definitely consider working with them again.

Submitted my initial quote request on 9/13 with an amazingly quick response to discuss what services I needed. The lady that I spoke to got my service needs and promised to get a quote out that day. When asked how long it would take for someone to come out she said it likely would be the beginning part of next week. Perfect! I didn't receive my quote from Handy Andy that day/night and since my issue was getting worse and now I risk having much bigger issues, I sent a follow up Yelp message the very next day responding to our conversation letting them know I never received the quote they promised. 1 full week later, there has still been no response from the initial quick response to my inquiry and my 2nd follow up. Maybe someone dropped the ball twice on their end, or maybe they thought my job was too small to send someone out which in that case they should tell you up front rather than say they can do it and never get back to you. I ended up calling another plumber who was fantastic. Told me estimated costs, and scheduled someone to be there in 2 days. None of this empty promises and no follow up responses like Handy Andy. I will highly recommend that if you need handy man type of help, stick with established companies with more experience and professionalism than this new company, Handy Andy.

Handy Andy was highly recommeded by Glass Guru for removal of an existing wrought iron indoor railing. My initial after hours response was impressive (reason for 2 stars) by an office staff but very disappointing since. Their first communcation did not happen until a few days later saying that someone will call. When that didnt happen, I contacted asking for followup a week later. Again, told that someone would contact me. It's been over 2 weeks now. I've asked other handy persons to look at the job with good communications, feedback and recommendations. My husband is a veteran and we both believe that this is a good way to use their skills and mainstream back into work force but it appears that smaller jobs may not be as profitable or the infux for jobs overwhelming and unplanned. Either way, Handyman Hawaii needs to address the long term course and adjust accordingly with improved customer service if they are to remain a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED business in Hawaii.

They answered my call for service but took longest time for a quote or follow up. Used Roto rooter instead. They are expensive but at least they are responsive

We have used Handy Andy several times for small things like painting walls, to larger tasks like replacing sinks. They are always on time, work efficiently, priced fairly, and their employees are some of the most professional and friendly people out there. Thanks Handy Andy!

My experience with Handy Andy was excellent. The initial response was timely the estimate for multiple repairs was fair and in my opinion very reasonable. Work was done as scheduled, neatly and completely. Information over the 3 Days was timely and sensible. Any questions I had were answered promptly and as far as I can tell accurately I found them to be trustworthy and reliable. I will definitely use them again
