After ten years of military service, I decided it was time to start a new chapter with my family in Hawaii. When doing so, I experienced a variety of obstacles and hurdles to overcome, like something as simple as finding a job

While I gained valuable skills during my military service, they didn't exactly translate into a civilian résumé suited for the business world. Despite the general appreciation for veterans, finding a job was tough, as I had to compete with peers who spent the last decade earning degrees and work experience.

Many fellow soldiers and brothers of mine also had a very tough time readjusting in modern society They felt like they lost their purpose, often suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression In 2016, 20 veterans were documented to have committed suicide each day.

This should be zero stars, and anyone thinking to employ this outfit, should beware. They overcharged for materials. They did not send out their foreman on the job. Their worker put the wrong paint on the walls. The floor subcontractor did not do the subflooring and the floor failed within one year, needing replacement. They did not respond to requests to repair. They can do small jobs, but do not employ them for any flooring, painting, reconstruction. Be advised.

I had a bad experience working at a customers house with a handy andy employee. I was called in to do a leak search and repair. As a state licensed plumber with over 26 years experience in the trade i found myself being questioned by a snot nose employee who more than likely was not alive when i started the trade. Long story short he said that handy andy can do the same type of work and they are licensed plumbers. Bullcrap!!! Painting walls does not make you an expert in plumbing. Jack of no trades and master of none. that kid is lucky i need my job.

Zero stars! Had someone come out to look at the place for an estimate. We were having a lot of renovations done on the house so we gave them 2 weeks to get back with us. After the two weeks passed we called them to check in on it. They said they would have someone get back to us and we never heard from them. This happened x3 times where we tried calling them and got no return phone call. What is the point of having someone come out and take the time to look at the work that needs to be done if you are not even going to provide an estimate? After waiting over a month we finally gave up on them and went with a much more reliable company. Handy Andy lost a good profitable job and a loyal customer!

I am not the most handy when it comes to installing things around the house. I bought several rubbermaid closet organizers. I began the process by removing the old closet rack. Big mistake. Managed to only make the holes in the drywall bigger. I then decided i was going to try and install one of the closet systems i bought. Another mistake, not confident enough to know what i was doing, so I called Handy Andy. I got an appointment a week later. Bryce was running a little late, but had the courtesy to give me a call 10 minutes before my appointment to let me know he was running late. he came and installed two of the systems that i requested, and was done in a couple of hours. I'm very satisfied with the work he did. I would definitely give them a call again if the need arises.

Auwe Handy Andy! I really liked your prices and your work and workers. But u guys gotta repair your communications! 3 days no hot water. I work in a hospital dealing w possible COVID and other patients requiring isolation care for transmissible infections so I need hot water to bathe with. From Sunday till today I been calling. What I tell the girls that answer the phone gets lost in translation when it reaches the frontline workers. I don't hear a recording that says ""This call will be monitored for quality service"" so mayb u should invest in that. Or switch to another oversight company if u guys already invest in that. 'Cause 1) I asked for an on-sight estimate the first call and received an invoice asking for a down of $157 before anything could ""be started"". Now the last time I called back in December an on-sight estimate was $25 and it went towards the work if any work was then scheduled. Now I don't know if that's COVID rates but $157 for an estimate seems a little steep! Then when they called Mon the girl said she would have a ""technician"" call me back. Within an hour I did receive a call - but when I asked q's about heater problem he told me he as the ""estimator"" NOT a technician so he could not answer my question but he would have a guy call me back later. No call. Well I did receive a call w an Oregon area code. But I don't know if that was their guy cause he never left a message! I don't answer any calls I receive that I don't recognize - esp out of state or off island calls cause I read scammers can access all kinds on home numbers (incl state area codes) to run their scams and that w some of them all you gotta do is answer the call and they electronically start scamming. So if I see a number that isn't ID'd from my contact list I wait for the voicemail to assess whether to call them back or not. Like I said that out of state number never left voicemail so I assumed wasn't Handy Andy so I continued to wait got busy doing stuff with the rest of my life, then realized after their office had closed (around 6pm - shower time) that Handy Andy had never called back. 2) So gave um 3rd chance (""3 strike rule) just cause I like their workers (professional, knowledgeable, and skillful) and the work they do. But the girl I spoke to asked me to repeat all the info again (Name - spell please, phone number - area code please, address...) so I told her look it up cause all that info was given Sun and Mon and both times the girls said I won't be asked for it again (except for name spelling so they could look up records for the rest) cause it's ""in the system"" and they can look it up by my name. So this girl today says ""Ok I'll look it up but I have to put u on hold "" - then leaves me hanging. So...I hung up, went back to Yelp, and in less than 10m have someone coming today at 12! Handy Andy I'm not hating. I really want u guys to improve this part of your service. I like and trust your frontline workers. I've had a few jobs done by you guys and have been very happy w not only the workmanship but also the attitudes and professionalism of your frontline staff. Awesum guys! But always I've encountered these same issues w communication b/t office and frontline staff. Last job estimator failed to pass on all the requested repairs to the worker. So when I came back to check just before the guy left for the day to ask about the repairs yet to be completed (was a 3 or 4 day job) he said he was unaware of a few of the repairs I was asking about! If I never check and had just trusted all the info was communicated that work would have never gotten done! And having met and talked w face to face w both the workmen and the estimator my gut was that I trust the workers. Estimator nice guy - polished, slick, fast taker, little bit aggressive. Workers down to earth, careful w their words, and everything they said they'd by the end of the work day was done. So my bet was they truly were not told everything. Please Handy Andy fix this communication problem! You guys do Excellent work fixing other people's problems - now see if u can fix your own. Aloha and good luck w that. I sincerely mean that cause I want to start using u guys again. But until that's addressed, sorry but no can...

My bathroom door was misaligned so I called and made an appt. Tech by the name of Bryce came out and tinkered with it for a bit and left it worse off then when he came. Told me he would call to schedule an appt. Two weeks later still no callback so I decide to call Handy Andy again. This time the call was picked up by someone named Dennis who said he would personally take care of the situation. It's now been a month and still no callback. Dont waste your time calling them. Not professional at all.

I had some problems with some of the work done on a replaced screen door and was initially disappointed; however, they were able to honor their work to redo it even though it was a year later. I had a doorbell replaced, kitchen sink and cabinet doors/hinges worked on, fan in the bathroom, a screen in the lanai installed, a toilet repair, etc. The workmanship was great! If the customer is unsatisfied, the CEO will work with the customer to their satisfaction. They are quick and efficient to do the work in a timely fashion.

Found these guys doing an internet search and placed a request for a job at their online site. A week later they get a hold of me and make an appointment for an estimate for the next day at 4 pm. I also receive an email to confirm the next day appointment shortly after I got off the phone in which I confirmed. Got home at 3:30 from work and Waited an hour and a half before calling their number to find out what's going on. No one one called me to let me know they weren't coming or were at least going to be late. I get their after hour number and provided my information. And asked said, so the technician isn't coming? I get a sarcastic response for and legitimate question. She seemed annoyed and said she was an after hours persons in a smart as way and then said thank you in a super smart ass way. I'm a 20 year retired veteran so I thought I'd work with a veteran owned company thinking I'd get great service. Not so much. Need to have their phone operators check their smart ass way they talk to people. Veteran owned or not if you talk to people like that you lose business. 100% non-recommend this business. ZERO Stars! Good job making a veteran company look bad Ms. After Hour Phone Service Lady. *************** Update: An estimator showed up but almost two hours late. I still gave them a chance so I showed them what I needed fixed. Great guy by the way and seemed knowledgeable. And a manager contacted me and offered me $100 of the job. Received the quote back and it's was over $1100. With more than half being in scaffolding rental set up and tear down. Come on man! That's like you saying yin can do the job but I need to go rent a hammer so it'll cost you $20 more....dafuq. Anyways I received quotes from other companies and I'm going with one of them. Received a quote for $500 which is more than half of what this company is asking. Terrible customer service when it comes to the ""After Hours Phone Operator Lady"". ....that's what she said she was...""I'm only the...."". LOL. And way too over priced.
