Jackie H.Awesome service, highly recommend! Great quality service of high value and excellent staff
Brian S.I am beyond furious with the so?called ""service"" I received. I had David Hughes, who apparently considers himself a ""manager,"" come out to install a system to remove iron from my irrigation. The job was sloppy from the start. After the install, he barely tested one section of the irrigation system, ignored the rest, and then packed up and left.
Now, entire sections of my irrigation system are completely non?functional as a direct result of his work. When I called him to address the problem, he was dismissive, unprofessional, and flat?out refused to help, smugly stating, ""We aren't an irrigation company."" Well, if you're not an irrigation company, you have no business touching an irrigation system--period.
This level of negligence, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for the customer is unacceptable. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company and will be warning as many people as possible to avoid this company at all costs. If you value your property, your time, and your money--stay far away
SCAM! If I could give negative stars I would. this company calls under false pretense with nothing but free water testing services from the city only to become a salesman the second they walk in your door. as for the ""gift card"" for your time participating in the survey, that's not a thing. you have to fill out a separate voucher after you participate, and then mail the letter and receive a separate form some time later.
After having our water tested through verified third party- most, if not all results and numbers were exaggerated. you can also get a water filtering system for a fraction of the price with far less predatory lending.
when the test was complete, the salesman began his pitch, even though we were not in that market. even after being told we would need time to think about it at a minimum, he still wrote up the entire deal for over 12,000 dollars. oh, and the interest rate that they don't tell you unless you ask is 9% on an 8 year finance if I remember correctly. which will bring you somewhere close to 24,000 dollars on a good day.
and finally the customer service.. once the salesman left we tried calling to double check everything was not going to be put through and cancelled since we didn't want any of it, I called over 25 times with no answer across two days during work hours. when I selected the ""water testing"" option of course someone picked up and was rude because I didn't want to order a water test and was trying to cancel.
my word of advice: be extremely wary and do your research before entertaining this company. i pray you don't fall victim to their predatory lending and sales pitches.
Update to original review: The process was challenging, but ultimately we received service. Matt was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and professional. Our water system is working, and we feel comfortable moving forward with the company.
Original review: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Serviced our system in April (routine maintenance) and we immediately had a problem that evening after the technician left. Told us to ""place the system in bypass"". It is now the end of June and we are still in bypass with disgusting water! No one answers the phone. No one updates us. Our fixtures and clothing are being ruined with iron. I can't cook with the water. We can't drink the water. I understand that ""things happen"" but at least answer the phone and respond to your paying customers!
Diana J.Jason, part of your problem is you have no accountability for your company's failed customer service. One bad review does not matter! You are full of them.
Lauren H.TLDR: I echo an earlier review: SCAM. If I could give less than a star I would.
A man in a vest with a clipboard knocked on our door on a Sunday; water testing kit in hand. Thinking we were contributing to a larger study on the water quality in our area, my boyfriend ran to the tap, filled up the kit, and passed it back to the ""tech"" at the door. Since then, at minimum 2-3 phone calls come in daily, no voicemail left. If you try to call back to find out why Hampton Roads Water is essentially ROBO-DIALING you, you will be sent to a VOIP answering service funhouse. Get real!! Essentially it's a strip-mall call center with 3 people behind the curtain and a few chuckleheads in the field. The calls come in from phone numbers with multiple VA area codes where they supposedly have locations. If you're not totally scammed into purchasing a bogus water filtration system for your house like others have, at the very least good luck trying to get taken off their call list.
Once you answer that door or call, you're in a long term relationship with this company.
It makes me really sad that some people have been taken for what sounds like a lot of money. Disgusting to prey on people like that (and probably sell their information too). A PERFECTLY DESPICABLE EXPRESSION OF LATE CAPITALISM! Go kick rocks.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your thoughtful and timely reply. That would be a convenient explanation to shirk any accountability for the numerous complaints on this business page, though to accept that logic would mean that I came to a random Yelp page to write a detailed review. Given I rarely use the app, I explicitly came here with the business card on hand and the caller ID info from the hundreds of calls we received to register my review.
I understand how much these reviews can affect a business over the long-term, which is why the effort to write a negative review had to be inspired by multiple weeks of bad experiences in trying to be removed from your business' call list.
To think that you'd be able to find a legitimate customer record based on a Yelp username/handle is also completely unreasonable, as you have claimed you've done to undermine or de-legitimize other's reviews. Your responses are so terrible, I've begun considering that ""Jason M."" is just like the other ""employees"" manning the phones at Hampton Roads Water Services-- a BOT! If you are in fact a human and a legitimate business owner, I suggest starting with the fundamental task of trying to set up a legitimate business before you go on the defense for one on Yelp.
Chris Z.Oh - absolutely I have the right company. I pay attention to details like that. The person who called me said they were from your company, and your technician who showed up at my house left me a business card with your exact same company name and website. I just lowered your score from 2 stars to 1 star for suggesting that I'm lying.
It is more likely that you are lying, since you are accusing every single reviewer that they are lying.
Wow.
My original review, in case it disappears:
Received my water test today (11/1/24). I was a little disappointed in a few things about this company. Bottom line, they should be more knowledgeable of which they speak. The receptionist on the phone initially told me I would receive a free at home test covering about 40 different analyses (which is kind of in line with what the city performs at their treatment plant). But the technician who visited said he would only perform four, and did only perform four. Same receptionist exaggerated the need for testing based on an initial TDS sample result of 150 ppm. Actual SMCL is 500 mg/L. Technician tried to explain that it should be under 50. Ok, great, but that's actually not a health hazard. Neither is 500. Technician tested for ""total chlorine"" and ""total ammonia"", for which MCLs or SMCLs don't actually exist. Chloride (not total chlorine) is an actual secondary regulated compound, but he didn't test for that. Residual chlorine is regulated at 4 mg/L, but can deviate. He told me my level in ppm (not in usual units of mg/L), but he couldn't tell me what the conversion to mg/L was. (It's 1 to 1). I would expect him to have that knowledge.
Scam. In December, 2024, they were at Lowes offering to go to your house to do a free water home test (attempt to sell their products). It is agreed upon beforehand that they would provide you a $25 Lowes gift card if you allow them to do the test. I politely allowed them to try and sell me overpriced filters for over an hour and ultimately declined services. I called several weeks later to inquire about the promised Lowes gift card and agent advised she would forward up my concern and promised it wasnt a scam. I recieved no further communication until I sent them an email through the website's contact page complaining and they offered me a $20 credit toward a service. Out of principle, this company is shady.
great company,good service,great quality,wonderful people,courteous
and polite and on time
Showed up without me asking them to and they tried to sell me an expensive water filtration system I dont need. They said they worked with the city but the city said they don't work them at all. Several complaints filed against them at BBB and tons of reviews all saying the same scheme. Stay away.
