John Halpin enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17. He served as a pipe-fitter and boilerman during his time in the service. Following his service, he joined US Plumbing on the west side of Cincinnati and wed Grace Cucinotta in 1946. After completing his military service, he began working for JP Dorney Plumbing Company in Hyde Park.
In 1951, John decided to launch his own business. He quickly brought on his brother-in-law, Angelo, and acquired two used box trucks. The business operated out of Evanston initially. In 1957, they moved to 2001 Dana Avenue, and John remodeled the house to establish a showroom and office space. In 1959, they transitioned to 3299 Linwood but kept the office at Dana. Joe, the youngest son of John, showed a strong interest in the company while in his Junior year at Purcell Marian High School in 1978. He worked part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer for the family business. In 1988, he assumed ownership and is now at the helm of the company in Roselawn.
Joe Halpin, the son of founder John Halpin, has been leading the company since 1988. He is a master plumber and continues to run the business today.

I can't say enough good things about Halpin. I have had to use them a couple times recently and they are always professional, answer all of my questions, and do excellent work. Darrell and CJ couldn't be more pleasant to work with and provide nothing short of quality work. The office staff is very friendly and efficient. I can't make enough positive comments about our experiences. Thank you.....it is nice to have honest, hard workers, you can trust!!!!!!!!
Donna S.Recommended by my realtor. Came earlier than expected and called to make sure it was ok with me. Diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it. Didn't make a mess. Darrel and Pedro very pleasant and professional. And my bathroom works!!! I'm very happy.
I would like to highly recommend Halpin Plumbing for an outstanding job that they did over the weekend on our condo in Hyde Park. Geoff Halpin the Plumber was extremely helpful and gave me an update frequently so I was aware of what was happening.
He even brought space heaters to keep the condo warm while we waited for our heat to get turned on by Duke.
Though my bill was really steep but the problem was resolved.
Be careful of the charges! $400 for a job that was less than 2hours! Had a simple job. Replace the faucet in my powder room with the one I bought. When making the appointment the receptionist never asked if it was a single or remote handles. Apparently those cost more. $403.00 to install. The tech was a wonderful guy. My job had no issues . Easy removal and replace. He said that they base the price on jobs that are complicated. I would not call again without asking the base price.
Laura M.Had a fantastic experience with Halpin's Plumbing today. We called yesterday due to an unpleasant odor from a drain in our basement. They were able to schedule with us for the very next day. Their plumber Darrell called to let me know when they were on the way and arrived right on time.
Darrell asked me what issues we were having, looked around and then said we should start with the FREE sewer scope (we had a valupak coupon) and go from there.
They worked inside and outside (in the pouring rain!!) to get as good of an assessment as our pipes would accommodate the camera to go.
Thankfully nothing urgent to fix, but Darrell gave several recommendations and options that could help fix the odor problem we are having and advised starting with the most economical. He also advised on potential causes to the water influx in our basement and some of the options for fixing that issue as well. As well as looked at a few plumbing things I may want to do in the future and let me know if they were possible and a rough guesstimated cost.
At the end...I wasn't charged a dime. They said the coupon for the free scope covered their visit!
Their excellent customer service, professionalism, and sound advise earned my future business as well as my referral to anyone needing a good plumber! Thank you, Halpin's!!
Called back in October to inquire about a possible estimate. They immediately wanted to schedule it. I asked repeatedly if there was a charge for an estimate and said I did not want one if there was (most reputable organizations give free estimates). They did not answer and proceeded to schedule someone. When they arrived, they said nothing about cost up front, but immediately began to give an (inflated) estimate for a bare minimum job. After completing the estimate, the gentlemen gave me a bill for $45. I told him the above story and said I had no intention to pay. I immediately called Halpin and recounted the same info. The young lady I spoke with said she would ""let management know and go from there (although her attitude mostly indicated she had heard it all before and she just wanted me to pay.
I have heard nothing from them since, and assumed the matter was settled. Today I was left a message (convenient calling in the middle of the day when working folks aren't home--amazingly, no one answered when I returned the call at 4:30 p.m.) from a Lisa at Halpin regarding my, so-called, outstanding balance. She claimed to have sent several emails, as if such amounted to some kind of legal notice (I've never received any such email), and wanted me to call and arrange payment so that they could avoid turning the matter over to collections.
I will not be bullied by scammers and will not pay for a service I did not authorize with knowledge aforehand of the cost. I suggest to all who might consider engaging these people that they take my experience into account and run the other way.
Ben G.Great people.
The receptionist was friendly, attentive and helpful.
The service technician was on time, knowledgeable and took his time to dumb it down and explain what was wrong and what my options were to fix my water heater.
The quote was reasonable and they have a good reputation.

Dear Mr. Halpin,
I'm writing to thank you for what has been one of the most amazing customer service experiences I have been treated to in a very long time. I hired Halpin Plumming and have for many years. But I know you are not the cheapest on the block. With all the online search type things out there it is very easy to find services that are less expensive but you find out why when something doesn't grow just exactly right.
A couple of weeks ago one of your Plummer's came out to do some work for me and part of that work was to reinstall a sink. It was a pedestal type and the house was from 1912 so it required some difficult updates. Putting the sink back together a piece of tile was damaged that required me to patch it in a very obvious way giving it a very cheap look or pull the sink and cut out the damaged tile taking with the chance of further damage, which I feared would be the case. Know that when the plummer was done I paid him and did not address the issue till the next business day with Sara. Now Sara answers the phone along with one other young lady that I know of and I thought that was the extent of their duties. Oh no, you have empowered this young lady and I'll assume the other with whatever it takes to immediately address issues. When I called about the damages she did not just pass me along. She did not try to say it happens or it was a tough install or make some other excuse to avoid repairing or taking responsibility for the damage. Rather she was apologetic and said please send pictures which I did. Within a day or two she called to tell me that it will be made right and that you have a great relationship with a tile guy that can fix the issue. She also told me it might take a couple of weeks and he said the cost to repair would be $300 and that if I prefer you would send me a check.
Fearing I could cause more damage on my own I chose to wait. A couple days later, I get a call that a plummer would be out that week then the tile guy and wow were they. How this tile guy managed to cut a square from the center of a tile was one thing but the repair and replace so to speak, was better than I could have hoped for. So let me say cheap is many times just that. Thank you Robert, thank you Sara, thank you Joe Halpin!!! There is a reason you have had a place in my contact list for years and will be there for years to come. And I never thought that you guys could be a great resource as well like in this case and amazing tile guy. Again thanks to all of you. You are first on my list.
Sincerest Regards,

I have been using Halpin Plumbing for years and they are excellent - they always respond promptly to calls and their service people are prompt and courteous. They take the time to explain the problem and solution. Yesterday we had a problem with our water heater which was installed by our builder and was under warranty - Halpin went to the trouble of putting us in touch with a Company that deals with warranties and within a few hours they were here and the problem was taken care of. I would not hesitate recommending Halpin Plumbing. They are local, family owned and great.
Bait and switch. They came out to do an estimate, never give ,e a price and then socked me an expensive bill when they did very very little work. Would not provide a statement of services or any type of itemization (because they did almost nothing). Scam.
This company also operates JPH Property Investments.
Research both companies before doing any business with these people!
