I just had Raphael out to work on 3 clogged drains, including two sewer laterals. He arrived on time and did a great job on everything, including the one very difficult lateral.

He offered to run the camera down this drain and then defined exactly where the damage was located--turns out it is in a reasonably accessible location, so when I get it fixed it will be relatively inexpensive (as these things go). He also went the extra effort on the other lateral, snaking it in both directions. Then he unclogged the bathtub which has been 95% clogged for a long time.

3+ hours work and he only charged $250, very reasonable, with a 45 day warranty. I will probably have him back to repair that damaged lateral when I save up a bit of money.

Update
Just had him replace my water heater, a great job, quick and with no fuss, $100 cheaper that the other bid I got from a local plumber. Cheaply enough that I didn't feel too guilty about not doing it myself.

A quiet early Sunday Morning, we had a ""gusher"" out in the front yard. I called 8 other plumbers and only Rafael promised to come take a look. The cheap valve had broke and was spurting water at the connection into the house. Rafael fixed it in about an hour and charged me a really reasonable rate. A very pleasant man who know his stuff. He explained everything he did and showed me the parts that failed.

I will call H&R from now on!

Kind, courteous, and quick... this is how I would describe Rafael of H & R... As a new homeowner, I had no idea who to call when our toilet and tub backed up, so I checked Yelp for local plumbers and read good reviews for H & R. I called at 6:30, Rafael was at my door by 7:00 and he was done about 40 minute later. He didn't charge an outrageous emergency fee, even though it was after usual business hours. He was cheaper than others I saw on Yelp and gave a 45-day guarantee on his services. He also takes credit cards...

You know how you always hate to call a plumber, because you think you're going to get ripped off, or it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get your toilet flowing again? Well, not to worry if you call Raphael. He is quick, honest and does the best job possible for you. We've had him out now twice, because of the roots that are growing into our very old sewer lines. The last time he didn't even charge us, but offered a solution that will take care of our problem once and for all. We had other quotes on doing this, but his reamins the best. He is a pleasure to work with.

Rafeal gave me a written quote for work to be done. After he completed the job, another $400 was added to the original price. He said that extra work had to be done. The bottom line is I still have sewer line problems and he had to return twice to ""fix"" the problem. His answer was simply don't use as much tissue and flush twice after each use. I called another plumbing company who took care of the problem. All I can say is ""beware"".

Four homes on a private lane needed to replace about 400+ feet of old orangeburg sewer line. We called several plumbing and drain companies. Rafael (the R in H&R Plumbing and Rooter) was quick to respond to our inquiry, and always completely answered any of our questions as we compared bids. His references, responsiveness and reasonable price convinced all of us to hire him. He replaced our old pipe with the pipe-bursting method. He was thorough throughout the pipe connection process and conscientious about making sure any open holes were covered before he left for the day. He is a very honest and responsible person, and an excellent plumber. Without a doubt all four of our households would highly recommend him to anyone with any plumbing or drainage problems.

Unfortunately, I had to write a poor review. I called this place up for a quote on a commercial water heater. I gave him every information there is for him to give me a price. He quoted me a price and I asked him if he could lower a bit. He said he is willing to give 10% off. Okay. Done deal. He told me he'll come over early morning. I met him early morning. He came in and checked the water heater. He complaint that it wasn't accessible like I told him in the phone. How can it not be accessible, if the water heater is on the floor, and not on the roof? Anyways, after much walking back and forth, he called up someone to ask the price for commercial water heater. At this point, I thought he should have the water heater in the van. But I guess not. After he finished with his phone call, he quoted me more than what he said on the phone. I asked him why, and he said the price was for residential. I told him everything about the water heater, and we agreed on the price from the call I made. He said he's not going to lose over money. As a business owner, I can understand that. If he wasn't sure about the price, he should at least ask to come by and check it out first or asked to call me back with the correct price at the time of my call. I thought he was knowledgeable, but I was wrong. It was a big mistake for me to give him a call. I was unhappy as a customer. I thank him for his time, and he left. I called someone else, and he came over that evening to do the job with way less money.
On the other note on his comment about the price for residential, it should be much cheaper than the price he quoted me. In the phone book, he advertised half as much as he quoted me if it was for residential.
I don't see any honesty there. If there is no honesty, there is no trust. If there is no trust, there is no call for me to do business again.

This is the third time I've used Rafael for our plumbing needs. His first job was at our bussiness, and the last two at home.
Each time he was hear when he said he would be - not like the plumbers I used before him!
Very nice - very clean and very fair pricing.
