Called to service a furnace. First words in my basement ""I smell carbon monoxide."" You know, the famously odorless gas. Bloodhounds can't smell it, but THIS guy could! Took one glance and proceeded to do nothing at that point, except a hard sell on a new furnace for $7k. After opening it up only for the purpose showing off how ""broken"" it was, pointed at the blower/draft inducer, said it must be bad, [never tested with a multimeter] and that you can't get that part any longer. [A quick Google search shows multiple sellers with it in stock.]

After finding no actual cause for the furnace not to be running, he just told me I could use the $135 service charge toward my new furnace with them.

After the guy left, I did my own sleuthing, cleaned the air flapper and replaced it. Boom, furnace cycles normally once again. And that bad inducer that needed replaced? Runs. Runs just fine.

A follow-up call to complain about this service just got me someone who wasn't listening, tried to twist what I was saying, but at the end admitted they don't service older furnaces, period. That they ONLY recommend replacement. Wish they had been up front with THAT from the start. But then they wouldn't have gotten their $$.

TBF, looking at their Yelp reviews is something I should have done, and THAT is on me.

My 80 plus year old parents just said no to repairs to their toilet flapper from the H. Jack technicians. They said it was over $600 to replace the flapper. Meanwhile, Loews would charge them a total of $350 for a new toilet including installation

After mom and dad said no thanks, I looked up the average cost to replace a flapper and it was $70 to $200. That makes sense. The techs they sent agreed that was all my folks needed.

Postscript: we got it fixed that same day for $100. Mom and dad are not feeling much love for H. Jack. Should I mention I was at my folks house for the plumbing diagnoses cause they are in there 80s? They are so sweet. We need to look out for our senior adults.

Wow what a great company! Everyone from Alecia who set the appointment to the plumbers who did the work!

My water heater was in bad shape and had corrosion on the pipes leading into the system. Nate inspected it and advised that the heater be replaced.

I didn't want to shell out the money for a new hot water tank but couldn't afford not to either.

The professionalism of the entire team put me at ease. The work was done to code. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs plumbing service.

Contacted him on the phone and asked for a call ahead never received a call ahead. Secondly I told them what I needed over the phone and they make sure that they didn't give me any type of pricing they said that they would give me an estimate and when I got their estimate their estimate is three times more than other plumbers I ended up dealing with. When because my gas line needed the repairs and I didn't have any heat the guy laughed and told me ""better get some electric heaters buddy"" quite ridiculous.

Follow up: You responded to this review with several lies. First of all your pricing for a gas line test is a standard price for residential. The guy showed me on his phone of pricing. Secondly your pricing compare to other licensed plumbers in the area is extremely overpriced. Thirdly, I was never offered a re-piping quote to turn down. Lastly the main issue is the way that your guys carry themselves. There is no need for the snide remarks or comments that they could've kept to themselves. Just because I did not want a written quote of your over priced estimate should not justify someone standing in my own home making a sly comment about my condition. I feel you are praying on the weak who do not understand how things work. A simple gas line pressure test that literally takes 5 mins to set up should not be priced at $317.00 when your competitors are priced at $119.00. The other repairs that were done were explained on the phone already and I told you on the phone from the start I needed a gas line pressure test from the very start to find a remaining small leak. Surely the price could've been given at that point as a heads up as to not waste either of our time. And leave me yet another day without heat. Also you clearly didn't address the fact that I specifically asked for a call ahead and you told me that I would get 20 to 30 minutes ahead of time and that did not happen.

But continue to keep telling lies for your terrible reviews. I'll make sure everyone that I deal with in the industry is aware of your tactics.

I called to get someone out because of a clogged kitchen drain I couldn't get unclogged myself. I was told they'd be at my house between 1:30 and 3 pm. Nobody showed up. I called at 3:35pm and was told they ""didn't have anything on the board"".

Jacks plumbing was a lifesaver when my water heater leaked. Called after hours and someone was out in 30 minutes. Stopped leaked and set up appointment. They arrived on tine and were very professional and quite knowledgeable. It wasn't an easy job because it was a tight space and pipes were in terrible condition. Replaced placed put in shut off valves to water heater. The two men were efficient and friendly.

Called Hjack 2 weeks ago when my sewer drain was backing up every time I used my washing machine. They came out at 9 am and left about 12:30 pm . They said a tree in our back yard had busted thru our pipe and it was broken. They got some of the roots out, enough so we were not having anymore water backup. That visit was $533.00! They told me the tree would have to come down, at our expense and also the stump. They were going to replace the broken pipe and continue into the yard another 14 or 15 feet with all new pipe. To the tune of $6,500.00! I wanted a second opinion of course, so I called Jeff the Plumber. They charged me half of what Hjacks did, but more importantly is they broke thru the tree root blockage and sent the camera down and guess what? NO BROKEN PIPE! The tree doesn't have to come down, which would have cost us another $1,000.00! They sent the camera all the way to where our pipe connects to the city, again, NO BROKEN PIPE! there are some tree roots that need to be dealt with, to the tune of $420, not $6,500. I hope this review saves someone else.

I called H Jack's when a friend of mine said they did great work for her out of the Cleveland office. The two men who came out to see us convinced me we needed more than $8,000 worth of work to fix a bad smell in our basement. When figuring out financing, one of the men told me we could fill out all the financing paperwork but they would let me know what the monthly payment was going to be before signing anything. They had estimated $70 per month, over a 10 year period. A second man was filling out everything on his phone/tablet device. He held it out to me and said, ""Which one of these boxes looks like your signature?"" (actually my husband's signature). I clicked one of the boxes, not realizing he was signing the loan contract for me prior to giving me the final monthly payment or letting me read any of the contract paperwork. When I asked what the payment was, he looked at his device and said, ""$70."" After they left I was able to read through the paperwork, and it was actually over $100 per month. I got very upset at this point, feeling I'd been lied to and taken advantage of. I was sick and trying to take care of my two children at the time of their visit, and so I wasn't as vigilant as I should have been. That's my fault.

I gave two stars as opposed to one only because the man I spoke to from the company afterward seemed concerned and let me know we didn't have to follow through on the work. He offered to send a different team out and I declined. I cancelled the financing loan and we moved onto a different company. Over the next several days we had three other plumbers come out, and all three came to the same conclusion; the smell didn't have anything to do with the sewage or pipes at all. It's a separate issue in our basement. We did decide to go ahead and fix two plumbing related issues with a different company, for only $1,800.

Absolutely awful.
