Chalk up another slam dunk experience with Guy Plumbing. We've had a increasingly loud rattle coming from our water pipes whenever a large load was going; whether the rare instances we can run our sprinklers, our washing machine, or flushing a toilet. It sounded like it was coming from the wall between our bedroom and garage.. and I feared that it would require opening up the wall to resolve the issue.

Troy came out, and spent a good hour troubleshooting, and narrowed the issue down to the water meter out by the sidewalk! It was older and starting to fail, generating a lot of noise and vibrations that went all the way into the house.

Money for a professional diagnosis well-spent, as armed with that knowledge I was able to call the city to have them replace the meter. They were skeptical at first, but after giving exactly all the steps Troy followed to troubleshoot, they agreed that we did our due diligence before blaming the meter. Replaced meter, and now everything is nice and quiet in the house.

Dan from Guy plumbing came over to fix my shower this morning. He was very knowledgable and efficient.

Troy came to replace a Hansgrohe thermostatic cartridge in my shower. Other plumbers said it would be a minimum charge (and it was high). I asked what if it only takes 15 minutes? They said it would still be the minimum. Troy came from Guy plumbing, cleaned the shower parts and then tested the hot water. He found that the cartridge needed to be replaced. He called it in and in a matter of minutes, it was delivered. He installed it and it works great.
He was neat, thorough and very friendly. The price was VERY REASONABLE. I highly recommend them.

Had a slow, but ever increasing loss in hot water pressure over a period of 8 weeks. Finally after waiting 10 minutes for the water to get tepid, I broke and called Guy Plumbing and got an appointment for 9AM the next morning.

Promptly at 9AM I opened the door to great Alan Guy, with hand extended, introducing himself. I took him to our water heater and mentioned that I thought the water recirculator had given up the ghost. He could have easily said, ""Yup"" and charged me for a new one and the labor to install it, but he suspected something else. He thoughtfully went through some simple tests and determined that it was a jammed check-valve in the outgoing hot water line. A few twists of a large wrench and he was able to remove the offending valve. He offered to replace the valve with a new one, but suggested it was unnecessary and likely to give out again, so he removed the valve, saving me the cost of a new part. Once reassembled, he took the time to go through the house and ensure no air bubbles were left in the line, slowly turning on hot water faucets from back to front.

During the entire 1.5 hours process, he was patient, let me watch as he worked, explaining his thought process. Great work, great guy (no pun intended). I couldn't be more pleased...

I had Troy from Guy plumbing out to my house to install a pressure regulator. They gave me a quote over the phone after I e-mailed a photo showing the job was straightforward. This was the first awesome part of the experience. Other plumbers wanted to see the work first, and the end result is the uncomfortable experience of having to tell them to go away so I can get a second quote, rather than just having them do the job right then. I'm sure some plumbers rely on that pressure to get people to agree to higher prices.

The second awesome part of that experience was Troy: He was super nice, and was cool with me watching him work and asking questions. He did great work, and even answered plumbing questions unrelated to the regulator while he worked.

The third awesome part was when, after I questioned the price they put on the invoice for the part itself, they called and confirmed that it had been an error and had been corrected with no hassle. Super pleasant to work with.

Guy is now my go to plumbing company.

I have hired them for the past 23 years and they've fixed very difficult problems, given advice that saved me time and money and have always been very honest, professional and expert in their work. We had a leaking pipe in the shower so I called the Guy plumbing.They responded right away and sent someone over within a few hours. Not only did they fix my leaking pipe, they also tightened my shower heads and checked other potential leakages, I am very pleased with their service. Next time when I have a plumbing issue, I know who to call now.

Last week I had a toilet badly in need of attention. It had clogged, and when I tried to plunge it myself, it overflowed all over the bathroom. Eww. I've never actually needed to call a plumber before, but I know when I'm out of my depth. So I turned to Yelp.

When I called they picked up right away. I explained the situation and they said they could have someone there within the next two hours. Hallelujah! In truth, a plumber and his helper/trainee arrived in less then an hour (with a phone call first to let me know they were on the way).

Fortunately they didn't even cringe at the disgusting situation in the bathroom, and got right to work. They used an auger to clear the clog, made sure the toilet was all clear, and were in and out in under 15 minutes. They were both polite and professional.

I got the bill in the mail a few days later. It seemed a bit steep to me - $146 for less than 15 minutes of toilet snaking - but I really can't complain. They swiftly rescued my only toilet in its hour of need!
