Company Overview

At Gundlach's, we focus on restoring and repairing older homes, fixtures, and modern systems. Our plumbing services cover everything from drain clearing to water heater installation and repair. We handle heating solutions for all furnace types, such as wall, floor, split, and package units. Our air conditioning services include repairs and installations. We serve both residential and commercial customers.

Gundlach's Plumbing was founded in 1900 by Max Gundlach Jr. and A.C. Wroot. I. Rees Jones became a partner in 1927, helping to expand their services to include air conditioning.

By 1941, the Jones family acquired the remaining shares of the business.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Gundlach's emerged as a leading mechanical contractor in the area, completing significant projects like Minter Field, Memorial Hospital's maternity ward, and various local schools.

In April 2004, Trent Jones sold the family-owned business to Ken and Shelly Wonderly. Ken, who had spent more than twenty years in the field, had worked for some of the largest mechanical contractors in the nation.

Under Ken's guidance, the company has broadened its advanced plumbing and air conditioning solutions. Our commitment to ""today's technology with good old-fashioned integrity"" reflects our rich history.

He began his training at Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix. After that, he attended the Local 250 Union school, earning his certification as a journeyman technician and teaching for five years. Ken advanced from technician to project lead and then to management throughout his career. He became the owner of Gundlach's Plumbing and Sheet Metal Company in 2004. Ken's 35 years of industry experience give him a comprehensive understanding of equipment, allowing Gundlach's to serve customers efficiently and courteously. Under Ken's ownership, Gundlach's continues to embrace ""today's technology with good old-fashioned integrity.""

We have the seasonal maintenance from Gundlach. They are polite, professional and keep our heater and air conditioning running well. They call to make the appointment and come out on time. Dan T. was our serviceman and he was took care of our heater a/c the inside and outside. He worked in a timely manner and directed us on how to keep our a/c running smoothly especially during summer. Thanks!

I have been using Gundlach's as my go-to source for plumbing and hvac services for about two years now. I have had nothing but excellent service from them. They are one of a few companies that actually carry water heaters made in the U.S.A. which is a rarity these days. Two days prior to this review, I found water in one side of my garage. I scheduled an appointment with Gundlach's for the next day. Mike S. came out and spent around 4+ hours working on this problem out in the rain, cold and eventually darkness. A pvc pipe for our irrigation system coming off the main line coming in broke leaking water which found it's way into our garage once the soil was saturated. Mike had to clear numerous roots from a nearby tree which added to the repair time. I had Mike add a pvb to the line going to the sprinkler valves to ensure that water from our sprinklers doesn't back-up into the water coming into the house which also added time to the repair. Mike also replaced part of the main pvc water line that comes up from the ground to the home with thick walled copper pipe and added a new hose bib. Overall, Mike did a great job and was professional as have been all the workers from Gundlach's that have come to my home over the past two years. Yes, they are perhaps more expensive than other companies but they do quality work using quality materials. Thank you Mike S. and Gundlach's for helping us in a time of need.

They are a good company, very expensive!!! they came out twice and never really fixed the problem. The 2nd guy was very good but within a few days the lines were backed up again.. they never really looked into what was causing the back up.. We finally went with another company and they took care of the problem.. Maybe more trouble shooting in the future instead of price gouging customers.. We had all new pipes put in so you lost out on that business..

If I could give no stars I would. I fell like I have been ripped off. First they send out a guy who is rude, and he left his trash in my yard. They charged me over $500 to clean a drain. They had to come back out a second time to finish the job. There was one clean out for both drains and the first guy didn't want to take the time to complete the job. In my opinion, They overcharge and will charge you for unnecessary work. It's funny how Rachael always replies to the complaints on Gundlach's behalf with total B.S. I called the manager to resolve the issue and he generously said he would credit me $300 on future work. What's interesting is that they said they needed to cut into my walls and plumbing to clear the shower drain. That was total crap because I was able to clear that drain by myself with drain cleaner and a plunger! This company Will try to take advantage of you!!!!

Run as fast as you can!!! And Rachael W. with Gundlachs---I don't want to hear about your superior service, parts, employees, or whatever other crap you have to say in response. In my opinion, your as crooked as the rest of your company.

I would recommend reading all the reviews posted for this company. They have a middle of the road rating because they have poor customer service. They put a lien on my home because they under billed the HERO program by just over $1000 dollars. They could have billed the entire amount but due to their error did not. They messed up our rebate paperwork twice before getting it correct the third time and decided to say it was our fault they messed up. This resulted in a lower rebate payment than they promised. They also messed up on my neighbors paperwork resulting in a lower rebate payment for him. The office staff is very unprofessional and unwilling to work around problems that they themselves created. I would recommend calling another company for any work you may need done and avoid the headache this company will cause you.

WATCH OUT FOR THIS COMPANY. I needed a plumber. First time in at least 10 years. I didn't ""know"" one so I called Gundlachs, who I knew only from ads on TV. Ben came out said their flat rate was $540 to repair a leak in my water main, but because of the confined area to work in, it would be another $100. So $640. I had no idea if it was fair or not, but it sure seemed high. I said I would let him know, I needed to talk to my husband. He tried to pressure me to make a decision that day, based on their workload if I waited he didn't know when they might be able to get back out. I went to my Facebook community and asked for recommendations. I was provided several. I got additional quotes from 2 reputable plumbing companies that had multiple employees. (so I'm not comparing Gundlach's to a one man show that could low ball a price). The hourly rate was close on both new quotes and very reasonable. I agreed to pay PAYLESS PLUMBING $65 per hour and they estimated 2-3hours. It took Chris Jackson from Payless Plumbing about 3 hours and my cost was $212 including materials. ANY DECENT PLUMBER CAN PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICE, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF GUNDLACH'S GUARANTEE'S THEIR WORK FOR 2 YEARS. FOR $640 I COULD HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED 3 TIME AND STILL SAVED MONEY.
The final blow.... They charged me a $49 trip charge to come out and try and rip me off. They wouldn't come out unless I gave them my credit card over the phone. I wish I had checked Yelp before calling them!!.

Way overpriced. My grandparents are in their 80s and had a service agreement with Gunlach's and thought they should use them to fix a simple leak with their toilet. $403 dollars later, they had their leak repaired...I understand that the company needs to make a profit, but the amount they charged was outrageous for such a simple fix. What angers me is that the technician sounded as if he was pushy, making my grandmother worry & said they really needed fix another leak and he'd ""only"" charge them another $500+ to do it while he was out there but more if he had to come back out. Luckily my grandmother said she'd talk to my father about the other leak first before having them do anything with it. My dad said he could have fixed their original leak for $30 in parts & fortunately my father-in-law is a plumber and came to fix this other $500+ valve replacement for $120 (with no discount and including labor). We told my grandparents to definitely cancel their service agreement and use a reasonable plumber.

I realize they had a choice when using Gunlach's for their service, but it felt like they were taking advantage of my elderly grandparents and pressuring them to spend hundreds of dollars for simple issues when they are on a fixed income.

***Gunlach's was called in reference to the over-priced bill, but nothing was resolved.

I was recommended by a family friend. My heater was broken and it took them two days to come out. Then they wanted me to pay a huge amount, and then tried to push their $20 a month maintenance program. I get that, but seriously, the price was way too high. I know I can find just as good service for more reasonable price. On top of it, I gave them a second chance to fix my leaking sink and then they told me it was going to be cheaper to just replace the sink as it would cost almost $800 to repair it!!! But another family friend came by and fixed the leak for free, so what even was their purpose? Their diagnosis fee is reasonable, so I appreciate that. Other than that, I'm not sure I will use this business again. Too rich for my blood.

We just completed an energy upgrade with Gundlachs that included a new HVAC with a four zone system, all new duct work, attic sealing, attic insulation, weather stripping of doors, all new grills/returns, exhaust fans with motion and humidity sensors, and updated our water heater to meet code safety restrictions. I have never written a comment on Yelp but I feel that Gundlachs is worthy of a superior recommendation. Gundlachs exceeded our expectations with outstanding levels of service. All of their employees are hard working, dedicated, friendly, energetic, professional, pay attention to detail, personalize service, and are eager to please. We immediately noticed the difference in efficiency and the quality of the air as soon as the new air conditioner was turned on. The Carrier Unit is quiet and the air is definitely cleaner and easier to breathe. I can already tell that I will not need to dust nearly as often. Furthermore, I have family members with asthma and the reduction of dust and pollutants will make a huge difference in the quality of the air in our house. Our successful energy upgrade provided us with a home that is safer, healthier, more comfortable, and now is energy efficient. I highly recommend Gundlachs and want to thank the owner and all of his employees on this project for a superior job completed in a timely manner.

Just finished a major energy upgrade; new HVAC, full attic and duct re-sealing, new insulation, and all new energy efficient windows. During the process we were blessed to have worked with Ryan, Cruz, and even Ken, the owner. Each of these professionals gave us great energy recommendations, personalized service, and the job was completed to perfection. I don't offer these laudatory comments easily. My expectations are generally high. I always look for scams, bait and switch tactics, and I generally distrust ""salesmen"". This was my first interaction with Gundlachs, so all of my guards were up. During each phase of the process, these defense mechanisms were overcome by clear answers and work that met my expectations. There are any number of good, local companies that probably could have done any one of these projects and maybe some would have even been less expensive. What I most appreciated and validated my choosing Gundlachs, was their comprehensive approach to my whole home energy upgrade. In the end, I'm happy we chose Gunlachs and it was a true pleasure working with Ryan, Cruz, and Ken. Great job guys!
