Gene and his guys have been my plumber for 6 years now. And in that time, I've had nothing but the most efficient, courteous, and professional service from them. I've made upgrades that I'm very happy with in these last 6 years: a tankless water heater, touchless swan neck kitchen faucet, new pipes in the garage (installed after another plumbing company failed at their job and insisted that I replace all pipes when I only needed a small vital section to be replaced), and a hydro jetting that was a long time coming. After all this time, I know I can always count on Gene, he's very passionate about his work, and always provides the best service possible.

I had previously used a large, very commercial plumbing service for an issue with my water heater. They came out quickly, were very professional, but realized after the fact that they ""up sold"" me a few things I most likely did not need..something that also happened with HVAC branch of the company. The total bill was $725. When my water heater failed again a year later, I decided to call the plumber the previous owner of my house had used and raved about. While most definitely a smaller operation, most of the communication was via text with the owner Gene, the two man crew spent about 3 hours at my house, repaired two toilets and serviced/repaired my water heater and the cost was under $400. There were no attempts to up sell only a genuine effort to make sure things were repaired to my satisfaction. They were polite, cleaned up after themselves and I am very happy with the results. I will most definitely use them again!

Another 5 star experience with Gene and his amazing team. Low flow on master shower that was fixed in minutes; the speed of which was only rivaled by how fast they got here, for a non emergency. The service, speed and price can't be beat. Thanks again guys.

They tried to diagnose our problems by requesting pictures. We made an appointment with them a week in advance and they canceled on us the night before the appointment (I had already requested time off from work for this). Their reason for canceling was that they wanted to talk to the HOA first. Maybe you should've done that a little earlier instead of canceling the night before or accepting an appointment.

They said in writing ""It's 175 installed not including water lines or any other materials for the regular faucet if you would like the Kohler sensate installed that price is 275 installed""

Then they tried to charge me $1,300 and we settled on $1,000.

IN OTHER WORDS, BAIT AND SWITCH.

Prior to that, they installed a new hot water heater and reworked the piping. They told me that there was a one-year warranty on their labor and materials.

I now find that a part of that work was defective and they have refused to honor that warranty. They want me to pay for fixing their defective work

THEY DON'T HONOR THEIR WARRANTY.

I am entering a complaint with the California Plumbing Licensing Commission.

I had shower valve issues with A brand new shower installed by a general contractor. The hot and cold water mix didn't work properly and two previous plumbers were unable to fix it. In fact one of them recommended we break open the tile and wanted to charge me thousands of dollars to replace the entire valve assembly. Thank God I got a second opinion and found Gene. Gene and his technicians were able to swap out a cartridge and internal part that I received for free under warranty and now the shower is working like a charm. I really appreciated their honesty and responsive.

I wanted to update my review, because we have continued to use Gene and his plumbing team for multiple issues with our house! They always take their time and explain what and why they're doing what they're doing, so we always feel taken care of.
Since my last review, they have fixed our toilet base, unclogged our bathroom sinks, our shower, replaced our under sink hot water heater, fixed our garbage disposal and just generally given us great advice to keep things running smoothly! Thanks Gene!

As an attorney, I'm generally distrusting of vendors. However, Gene and his company have been incredibly responsive, professional and competent in my dealings with them. I recently had a sound going off (after work hours) in one of my toilets and gene personally walked me through sending him pictures and calling him over and over until he helped trouble shoot the problem until it was resolved. He's a good guy and wants to take care of people and i just wish there were more company's like this.

Our experience with GS Custom Plumbing actually started out pretty good. Our kitchen sink and master shower became clogged over the weekend so we looked for highly rated plumbers on Yelp. GS was the first one to respond on Monday morning. They came out and unclogged the kitchen sink - there was some kind of sludge that looked like coffee grounds clogging up the line. The fee was reasonable and we even recommended GS to our neighbors who had a similar problem (we live in an older condo building).

Here's where things started to go south: shortly afterwards, our toilet in the half bath near the kitchen became clogged up. We're not entirely sure what GS did with the sludge that they removed from our kitchen sink - did they try to flush it down the toilet? We don't remember them taking out bags of any waste. All of the dirty standing water from the sink was flushed down this toilet, so i My husband called them and left a message asking about this. We wanted to find out what had happened and have them come back out and take a look. No response. We called them three times - two of these times it didn't even go to voicemail. He sent an email. No response. He also messaged them through their website contact form. Still nothing. We asked our neighbors if they'd tried calling GS - they had and also received no response.

Our advice would be to steer clear - GS Custom Plumbing might help you initially, but they lack follow through.

Update 4/30/18: We had a different plumbing service come out to fix the clogged toilet. They found a washer/kitchen nut from the kitchen sink that was clogging the toilet. It's now pretty clear that the clogged toilet was the fault of GS. They fixed one problem, but caused another.
