In addition, we offer a diverse selection of services, from plumbing and water filtration to window installation and attic insulation, all aimed at transforming your home into a sanctuary of comfort.

Leon B. Grogg founded Grogg's Heating and Air Conditioning. He spent significant time supporting the people of Parkersburg. What started as a part-time endeavor quickly evolved into a full-time enterprise. He was passionate about his work and dedicated to his clients. He took immense pride in honoring his customers.

Consequently, we have built a dedicated clientele that has received respectful service throughout the years. That remains our top priority. We understand that our success hinges on your continued support.

In 1996, Leon's daughter, Carma, and her husband, Tim Hanlon, took over the company. They are no strangers to the industry. Having spent her childhood in the heating and air conditioning sector, Carma worked closely with her father for numerous years. Leon trained Tim in all areas of the business. They uphold Leon's legacy by consistently prioritizing customer care.

In July 2004, Grogg's Heating & Air Conditioning rebranded as Grogg's Home Services.

Do NOT call Griggs for HVAC repair!
Sam Cogar showed up on an emergency appointment on my furnace just hours before a week long winter storm hits. He gets my unit running in about 30 minutes. As soon as it starts he conducts a ""safety check"". Now he says he has to permanently shut down my furnace. Groggs will be happy to install a new one for me. $350 service call and NO HEAT EVER. WHAT? Sam adjusted the gas pressure switch so that the unit will not start said good luck.
I went from being in a tight spot to being completely screwed!!!!! And Sam expected to get paid!!!!! Hahahaha

BEWARE of Groogs and Sam Cogar!!!

Multiple incompatible products used to install the system. Wanted a simple HVAC system. Groggs installed a Heat Pump system. It's documented on the paperwork, but was rushed to sign. Plumbing for in/out air fell apart, was virtually not glued. Poor and undersized sheet metal work. Been working with another contractor for more than 1 yr to correct issues.

John the technician performed my biannual HVAC inspection today. He is undoubtedly one of the best technicians I've had for my inspections. He is so thorough and complete. I will ask for him from now on. He has a great personality and is very knowledgeable.

They care waaaay more about selling their service agreement than actually providing service to their customer! I forgot I had bought the service agreement from them last year (I'm retired now, money doesn't flow like it used to).

So, I was pretty aggravated to get a sales call from them stating 'was I interested in continuing my service agreement, Because TODAY WAS THE LAST DAY OF MY AGREEMENT'!

In years past they have hounded me about buying the agreement, but when I have the agreement, they never have hounded me, or even asked, if I wanted them to come & provide maintenance on my equipment.

Also, in years past, when I called b/c I thought my AC was not working - if it was cool outside they would find it was working. Then when it got hot, I would have to call them back & now they could find the problem. Thus, why I bought the agreement - because you never know how many times you would have to have them out & the 'show up' charge is high.

After the call aggravated me, I remembered talking to the guy about the service agreement last year. And about how in past years the service agreement would cover all my HVAC equipment but now if you had 2 units you had to buy 2 agreements or only 1 would be covered. I think they are greedy & I'm looking elsewhere.

i called Grogg's to replace corroded pipes under my kitchen sink and to remove a broken garbage disposal. Their charge to replace piping and cutoff valves and remove the disposal was $760. The pipes leaked the next day. The parts they used were cheap and the wrong kind of gaskets were used. I called another plumber to fix it because I felt like if they couldn't do it right the first time at rates like that I have no confidence they'd get it right if they came back. I'd also asked for their estimate to install a dishwasher; they were more than double the price of the other plumber I called. I hope they enjoy that money because it's the last they'll ever get from me.

Good response time with knowledgable competent people. Lower rating is solely based on prices and charges.

Our furnace started to blow cold air on Tuesday evening. My husband replaced a few simple parts on Wednesday, but no luck in fixing the problem. Called Groggs on Wednesday afternoon and scheduled an appointment for Friday between 12 and 5. They called Friday morning and said they had a cancellation and could be here in 20 minutes. Great! The technician came and was at the unit for about 10 minutes. He said it was a cracked heat exchanger and we had 2 options. 1 order a new heat exchanger to the tune of $2251.00 unless we took out a gold service plan which cost $169.00 then it would be $1907.00. 2 buy a new unit. He told us that we needed to decide if we wanted to put out that much money into a 13yr old unit. We asked for an estimate on a new unit. He contacted his office and we scheduled for another employee to come do that Friday afternoon. I paid the $84.00 service call fee and he left. The guy came and did measurements and quoted us two different models and their prices. One was a Heil for $6373.00 the other a Rhude (sp?) $6662.00. I told him I needed to speak to my husband so we could decide what to do. We were under pressure to get it fixed due to no heat and cold temps and snow predicted for the weekend. It was very stressful for us. I was told it would be next Wednesday to get a new furnace and 5-10 days for the part. But, I would never spend this much money without a second opinion. Plus my husband had researched this part and found an article that said this was sometimes a scam because there is no way to prove a heat exchanger is cracked unless you take the furnace apart. So I called the man who had installed my father-in-law and brother-in-law's furnace. He came out immediately ( he was in the area). He had my furnace up and running in 15 minutes. He charged 45.00 for the service call. He told us it is an older unit and will need replaced eventually. Gave us an estimate for $4500-4800.00. He sells Colemans and Goodmans. I feel like I should receive my $84.00 service fee back since they were completely wrong about my problem. Bill is my hero!! We are very dissatisfied with the service we received from Groggs. We had used them several times in the past, but never again.

A ONE STAR RATING IS BEING GENEROUS SINCE I AM UNABLE TO GIVE THEM A NEGATIVE STAR RATING. BUT IF I COULD IT WOULD BE A NEGATIVE 5 STAR RATING!!!!
I called to have my HVAC service on Monday 10/22/18, in the conversation we went over what trouble I was having for the unit and then a date was set for Friday 10/26/18 for a service technician to come look at the problem between the hours of 12pm-4pm. On Friday 10/26/18 I took off work and waited from 12pm-4pm no one ever called or showed up. After contacting Grogg's for the fourth time on Friday 10/26/18 well after 4pm was then was told that the technicians were running behind today. Understandable I thought to myself , life and things happens. So I waited until 5pm still no call and nobody ever showed up. After contacting them for the fifth time at 5pm was told a message would be sent to the technician and they would call me back ASAP. At 5:30pm I was finally contacted by a Grogg's technician and told that they would be at my residence in 15-20min. The ""after hours"" technician finally showed up because apparently everyone else had gone for the day. Worked on the unit and got it working (I can't forget to mention that he tried to hard sell me the entire time on their membership plan that was around $200/yearly). 1 hour later the unit shut off again and would not come back on. Another technician came out then again at 11:00pm and again worked on the unit until 1am (again try to hard sell me on their $200 membership plan) . He came worked on the unit put a couple more parts in the HVAC and was then told by that technician that the unit fired up 7 times and it was good to go. 30 minutes after the technician left the furnace shut off again and would not come back on. If you're looking to waste money and valuable time then you should call GROGGS. If you want true professional find them in the yellow page app. If you want a true great professional go to or call GIBSON Heating and Air. I called them on Sunday 10/28/18 and they came right away 20 minutes within calling and replaced a simple wire that was missed by the two ""professional"" technicians from Groggs. Not only that, Gibson's Heating and Air was courteous, prompt, and cheaper (AND ACTUALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM). Groggs is a waste of your time and your money!!! Also, if you're going to have set ""time windows"" for service try to keep your appointments. #GroggsSELLSELLSELL #WasteOfTimeAndMoney

Grogg's has been giving me the run around and wasting my time for over a month. They initially said they were willing to work with my insurance company and do whatever it took to make my ac work quickly, but have since refused to call a phone number no matter how many times I ask and remind them. If they had been straightforward in the beginning I wouldn't have a problem, but for lying to me and letting me and my 5 month old son sit in 80 degree weather for the past month, I despise them. Their front desk attendants have been nothing but rude and mean to me, they have made me cry every time I called. AVOID GROGG'S AT ALL COSTS THEY ARE JERKWADS.

They called me after I posted this review on facebook and yelled at me for ""bashing them on social media."" The guy who called said they were never willing to work with a warranty company and the people who told me they would help are apparently going to get in trouble. To Justin: You are mean and should find a job where you don't make people cry.
