If I could give zero stars I would. Their prices for replacing a water heater were outrageous and 3x any other plumber in the area... for the same exact unit! They tried overselling the more expensive unit for $5000 which is crazy when these units cost $1000 or less. They tried adding on multiple services adding up to an additional $1000 unnecessarily. They also charged $89 just for coming to the house for 5 minutes and telling me nothing I didn't already know! Do not ever use this company! What they are doing should be a crime!!!

i will just say the price was 5310.38.

theycame out on a 89.00 service call after about 5 minutes they came up and sead now the diagnostic fee would be 325.00 told them all is fine down stairs it is the well pump 5 minutes all is fine with the equipment down stairs,

they charge labor for everyting they do.

a 1040.00 pump was 2200.00 installed, 1300.00 labor

1600.00 to run new wire installed

650.00 to remove the old pump and install the new one

but i was charged 2200.00 to install the pump how can you charge me again to remove and install

325.00 for a new cap again labor installed

parts cost about 16oo.00

labor cost for less then 3 hours was 3,300.00

no take a few off the bill even offered cash same price,

shrewed sales people put you on the spot in your living room,
again who charges labor for every replacement they performed, the pump is guarnteed for 1 year.. wow

they will never be called again. i have no problems paying for a service, and a company making a profit but 1,100 an hour for labor and being charged labore for everything performed is way out of context.. we feel and know we were ripped off.

office lady had no business values, very unprofessional .. i did put the charge back on my card after i canelled it was 5 days they ended up waiting.. i told how i felt and how can you triple charge for labor expecially the removal part of the pump..

They say they are open 24/7. Not true. We started calling them at 12:30 pm on a Saturday and subsequently placed six more calls. No call back, no nothing. They may be good plumbers but they have to show up first.

Griswold plumbing replaced my oil-fired water heater back in 2014 and it failed again this past weekend. I contacted them on a Sunday to replace the tank again because the bottom of the tank was leaking. The emergency service person contacted me very quickly but told me he couldn't help because the supply stores were closed and they didn't have tanks on hand. They called Monday morning to schedule an appointment but refused to discuss pricing until they could see they repairs necessary. They came out Monday afternoon and quoted my $5000 to replace just the tank and reuse the existing burner as I requested. Knowing that the last replacement 6 years prior was $3000, I decided to attempt the project myself. I am certainly not a plumber but I was able to complete the job in 2 hours time and only spent $1362 for the tank from a local supply store plus $75 parts from home depot. I saved almost $3600 for 2 hours of my time. I called them back to ask for justification of their estimate which they refused to provide answers. A lady name Liz who claimed to be the owner refused any justification for their pricing other than they need to cover their overheads. I think $1800 per hour is excessive for plumbing repair and installation services.

Always do your research before you seek out any price quotes for any type of service. Do an online search for ""What should it cost to ..."" and spend a little time looking at results. In my case ""..."" was ""Replace a Well Pump"". Then make your calls and be sure to get more than one estimate in writing or email from the company.

I started with Griswold Plumbing from positive online reviews on one site. They gave me a ballpark estimate that was over 8-times what I actually paid with another well-known and liked company in the area.

I asked for an email with a breakdown of the costs so I could understand where 5-figures of my cash was going. They conveniently didn't, and when I told them I wasn't moving forward until I got the estimate broken down in writing or an email, I was then given one over the phone. This time, just a little under 5-figures and still so far out of whack that I made a second call.

When I questioned the costs and the need to replace things unnecessarily, I was told, ""We won't warranty the pump unless we replace all of it. Also, consider that we make sure we do the job right the first time."" There was nothing wrong with the 4-year old pressure tank that they wanted to replace.

The technicians appeared to be complicit in the attempted shakedown since I'm sure they know what the parts and labor cost.

Get more than one quote, always!

It could very well be that these folks do excellent work, but I'll never know. I re-arranged my work schedule and they called to reschedule. I took time off from work and they called after the appointment time to let me know they needed to reschedule. They arrived onsite but then told me they would need to reschedule because of a puppy that they knew would be in the house. I made arrangements for the pup for the rescheduled time and they called to cancel. So much wasted time. They finished by recommending someone else.
If you have time to waste you can give these guy a chance. . .

I am not even a regular customer but I have to give them 5 stars! About a month ago, I had an issue with my well pump and when I placed a call to my Well Co, I somehow got Griswold Plumbing instead. I spoke to Jeremy and he could not have been nicer. He walked me through some issues it might have been and offered to come out if there were any problems I ran into. After having me try several things with my water pump, he said it was probably a check valve on my well pump...not a major issue. I probably was on the phone with him for a good 15 minutes. My own well co came out (the well was still under warranty) and it was indeed a check valve. But I'd say Jeremy went way out of his way to help me when he absolutely did not have to at all.

Griswold provides excellent service! I have had a sand/gravel issue with my water for 10+ years. I had put off fixing it due to budget. I called them one day and by the end of that week, the problem was fixed and the water is now perfect. They were professional, friendly, and installed the water filter system in one day. They also fixed my outdoor faucets which have never worked properly. I called them back for a modification a couple of weeks later and again, they were prompt with their response. Great company to work with, I highly recommend them!

Great service! We had an issue with old pipes... called 5 plumbers in the area and Griswold was the only one who was willing to come help! Arrived right on time and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Very helpful, would recommend!
