David E.Main line sewer pipe blockage caused by roots. My home for 16 years, had this issue in the past, had called Roto-Rooter and they always cleared the blockage. RR was a little pricey, so this time, at the recommendation of a neighbor, I tried a local business.
Explained the history and who we used. The technician hardly payed attention to the history I was providing. Proceeded to snake out the main with his machine. After going 53 ft, about 2/3 the way to the street, he encountered the blockage. The machine , which looked small, started to bind up. He brought the tool back with no roots attached. He indicated that it could be a broken or damaged pipe. After reminding him again what had happen in the past with roots, he changed the head to a root cutter. This time came back with a hand full of roots. He indicated that he didn't want to damage the iron piping and they should get a camera to inspect. OK, don't want to have his machine snap in the process. Called his shop for a camera and arrived in 15 mins. The camera showed roots in the pipe and at 53ft a massive amount a fine roots were blocking the way. Explained that the machine he had was to small and a larger one was needed, good, and they had one at their shop, BUT suggested I call anther company, to have the work done. Explained in the past Roto-Rooter came with the appropriate size machine and they cleared the pipe which then lasted 3-4 years.
Spoke to the manager Joe who indicated that this blockage was beyond their abilities. Asked about there bigger snake machine but stuck with his referral. Bottom line is that Greenfield cleared the line but the root ball/blockage is still there. They were able to run up the camera, but not the bigger snake machine. Roto-rooter offered to come today, but an non-emergency appointment was made for tomorrow instead, so we will have the whole day to clear out the roots.
Will get back to you folks and let you know the result.
Avoid this company! I called about replacing a kitchen sink strainer. After coming over, they quoted me $720. When I turned them down, they charged me an $88 service fee for the visit. I live .2 miles away from their office and the men were here for no longer than 15 mins. Not once did they mention the service fee to me over the phone nor did they offer to give me a quote for such a routine job over the phone. This job can be done in under 10 mins by a professional for under $50 in parts.
Be warned and beware!! After having been our family's go to plumbers for over 30 years, Greenfield Plumbing has gotten way too big for their boots. They showed up to do work we had scheduled the week before, which required water to first be shut off to 5 other homes. Then after inconveniencing everyone, they tried to bait and switch stop valves they had already marked up a whopping 400%. When questioned about the valves they brought, the same inferior ones already there, they walked off the job rather than offering any options or possible resolution, declining to discuss the matter further. The office actually hung up and then wouldn't take our calls. Turned out they hadn't bothered to get the required plumbing permit either, but had claimed the office had it. Definitely time to find another plumber.
Amir G.Excellent first service with Billy and Michael! Super knowledgeable and explained what was going on, what he was doing, how to fix, etc. 100% recommend and happy we found s great plumbing company!
Quick service- reasonable! We were able to move our gas line easily! The person who came to fix it was so nice and everything worked out well!
Pat D.After Greenfield's heroic efforts to continue keeping our old boiler alive over several seasons it finally needed parts that were no longer produced (we checked the Manufacturer).
Greenfield took the time to attempt to secure the part at various supply houses but when efforts failed they proposed a new high efficiency replacement. Our process of evaluating the situation was made so much easier by the professional, courteous, knowledgeable and no-pressure staff who took the time to fully explain our options and the scope of the replacement efforts.
The experienced installation team they sent could not have been more respectful of our home. They covered the stair rugs and finished basement with thick covering and safeguarded the walls and surrounding railings as they removed a large old boiler and brought in the replacement and related piping, installation equipment and tools.
Any questions or concerns were promptly addressed and explained by the installers. Greenfield also secured the proper permits and in their contract guaranteed that their installation was going to be code compliant.
After completing the installation Greenfield secured an appointment with the village inspector to examine their work. The building inspector upon evaluating the work remarked that this was a really good job and advised that the permit was satisfied/closed.
For the last few years we found Greenfield exceptional for HVAC maintenance and we can now say their complex installations are also excellent. We would not take a chance on using any other firm.
J C.Long story short, could not be more appreciative of Joe and his staff. In the heart of COVID, my entire HVAC system required a complete overhaul. The developer of my home cheaped out big time, had trouble for years. Greenfield, came in, no bs, told us the issues, had the problem nailed down, parts ordered within days, and did an amazing job on the complete overhaul of my HVAC system, 3 zones. I used to have to run AC on 3rd floor 24/7 during summer months, no more. They replaced all ducts, added a return and reconfigured my entire system. 3rd floor is cool as a cucumber. Really appreciate their work. Completely reasonable, and trustworthy. Thanks again.
Elissa Lin R.Billy showed up with Ben in tow. They were courteous, and Billy really knew what he was doing and fixed a number of plumbing issues we've had for over a year!
He saw that our condenser was causing the leak in our boiler room, figured out the problem and took a picture of it so he can share the info with the AC Specialist in his shop to come out on the next trip.
So very glad that my friend recommended Greenfield! True to the high marks my friend gave me!
Kathy P.Our water heater decided to retire itself a day before surgery and 2 days after our area was flooded. The awesome call taker worked very hard and got us an appointment the same day. As a bonus, the workers called and came earlier than scheduled. The 2 guys jumped into action and installed the new water heater fast and efficiently. They were very very respectful, kind and professional. On top of that, their pricing was extremely reasonable. Greenfield Plumbing has got you covered!
Greenfield completed an extensive AC installation to our home in May 2019 with LG ductless split units. The quote provided was competitive, certainly not the cheapest but we went forward with them wanting to support a local, independent business. The work was completed on time, but unfortunately one of the main systems installed had issues from the start. For 6 months we lodged complaints with phone calls and emails with little response, and service visits that blamed LG but took little responsibility for the issue. We engaged legal counsel, and the issues were ""conveniently"" resolved and the unit was FINALLY replaced pursuant to the contract. If you need AC work done, please consider other options. This was an incredible waste of time that resulted in additional legal fees to ensure the contract was adhered to. As of now, all issues seem to be resolved and we hope that we don't have any further troubles when it's hot again.
