I will never use GreenBox every again . The guy came in and said my furnace had been on fire and I needed a new furnace. Thank goodness I called a friend of mine to give me a second opinion . First off it had never been on fire and second he cut the wires off my furnace. here all this time I thought they where a reliable company but they are not . After fixing tge cut wires and cleaning the coil my furnace is working great . plus I see the special for cleaning the unit is $ 59.00 had been $99.00 and they charged me $131.00 . So I will never recommend Green Box to anyone ever !!!
Bethany P.I had a horrible experience with their technician, Ralph. Every time I spoke with him, he treated me like an idiot. He diagnosed my problem and then said he was going to get the part without even giving me a quote first. When he came back, I asked him to please speak with my home warranty people for just a minute, because they had already assured me that they would help cover the cost, but he refused. He rudely said, ""If you want this done today, I need to start right now."" He STILL did not give me a quote for how much the work would be. I let him replace the part because I didn't want to be out the $90 for the service call, but I should have just told him to leave. The end price he charged me seemed very high. But the worst part was how patronizing he was to me! I asked him a question about something he was explaining and he said, ""Don't confuse yourself."" Total asshole.
This company gives local business a bad rep in general. This company must be in bad shape considering they charge businesses $650 to drive an hour and flip a breaker. They chose to spend an hour of there own time unrequested by me to tell us what the unit needed to run properly due to it's age. So of course me being a trusting person signed the work order stating flipped breaker, unit needs this work done. I put my trust in this business because I'm not an HVAC tech and they straight stuck it to us. I called there office the day I got the bill for $650 to flip a breaker, the secretary laughed and said no that's for the work needing done, all you owe us is the service call fee of $75. Didn't even get a chance to send payment before there collections called demanding the $650. If you are new to HVAC repair DO NOT USE GREEN BOX!!! THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY, THEY WILL ROB YOU!
This company is HORRIBLE! I wouldn't give them any stars after the experience that I had. (But the app made me or I couldn't post). I'm also reporting them to the BBB! (I'm only posting in hopes that someone reads this and it keeps you from using them) We called them because we had family that used them and had a nice experience, however, after our technician came out NEVER AGAIN!! Be warned!!! They tried selling me a new unit after only having our unit for 9 years! I got lots of red flags when our guy came out to talk to us, but heard him out. After all, they know more about HVAC units than I do. The guy that came out was only out for his commission check and did not care what it took to get my business. I was the only one time at the time the service call was made and when the technician came back in to give me the diagnosis he said ""your compressor is out and you also need new blades and a new motor...this is gonna cost you around $1000 or so and I wouldn't even bother putting the money into it! You just need to look at purchasing a new unit to bring down the cost of your utilities"". I thought about what he said, but still lots of red flags went up. I said ""well how much is a new unit?!?"" He said ""we gotta send a rep out to discuss with you, but you're looking at getting some rebates back to help with your cost"". I told the guy ""well I'm not gonna purchase today, I need to think about this"". And the man said and I QUOTE ""you can't make a decision without your husband?"" I mean, who says that #1? #2 yes, I can make a decision and with you saying that it sent up more red flags that I shouldn't go with this!!! Long story short, we had a different technician from another company come and it was a breaker that was switched off and it cost us $65!! Upwards of $3k to $65 is a HUGE difference. I cannot believe that they would take advantage of someone like this and they should be put out of business for being such crooks. I wish that I could set y'all up and have NBC is my closet come out and lock y'all away with no business forever! Don't believe a word they say. Bunch of LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!! I will make sure that everyone I know doesn't use them. Not right to speak to someone that way but also, not right to be cross with people either!!!
I must say that my experience with GreenBox was unfortunate, to say the least. My A/C unit that was replaced in 2015 by GreenBox had a coil that needed to be replaced. It was very easy to schedule the initial diagnostic visit, there was a very quick turnaround for a technician to visit my home. The technician arrived on time and was very respectful. Once the technician realized what the issue was he said that they would order the part and would contact me when the part came in to schedule an install time. A week after the technician came I still hasn't heard from GreenBox so I called and found out that they had been leaving messages for the prior homeowner even though I made the appointment under my name and the check for the diagnostic was in my name. The service manager left a voicemail and made a snarky comment and said that they had been doing work for the prior homeowner and questioned if I was the homeowner and occupant of my home. The service manager advised that I didn't have warranty coverage since I didn't pay for the unit replacement in 2015. However, he agreed to honor the warranty as an ""accommodation"" as long as I would purchase the annual maintenance package. The service manager made it very clear that he wanted to earn my business which is why he was agreeing to honor the warranty. I called the next morning after I had a chance to review the warranty documents and spoke to the service manager and explained that the documents stated that I had 5 years of coverage as the subsequent homeowner. The manager agreed but still insisted that I have to purchase to service agreement and explained that he could void the warranty if the unit wasn't being serviced by the maintenance plan. I had also asked for a breakdown of the price since the cost seemed high for something that is covered on a warranty, the manager gave me a loose breakdown of what was going into the cost to repair.
The next issue was when GreenBox came to repair the unit. Apparently two technicians showed up on 5/29/18 to fix the unit. GreenBox never called to set up a repair time order me know that the part had came in like they said they would. I was out of town that day so I called back and explained the situation. The receptionist was not sure why they didn't call, she said that she would call me back to advise what he next steps were, 2 hours later and I still hadn't heard back from her so I had to call again to get an update. Nearly every time I called GreenBox I was given the excuse ""we are very busy right now"". Shortly after I made the call back to GreenBox the install manager called to advise that he had scheduled me for the next available opening.
However, I must give credit where credit is due - the installers arrived on time to repair my unit and worked very quickly to get my air conditioner repaired.
Overall, there was a lack of communication and coordination on GreenBox's side. Needless to say, GreenBox has certainly lost my future business. I initially felt comfortable using GreenBox after reading Gwen's story online saying that she wanted women to feel that they had someone they could trust for home solutions; I certainly do not trust GreenBox any longer.
Ryan B.I would have loved to be able to give GreenBox a zero star rating, however that option wasn't available. After scheduling an appointment for them to just come out and hook up my kitchen plumbing after my new counters were installed they called twice to push the appointment back and then ultimately sent an unprofessional tech to the door. He wanted to write up an estimate and then charged my wife $89 for a diagnostic test. I work hard so I can hire people that do this stuff for a living to just get it done and out of the way. It appears he never got that message. After feeling pressured my wife called me at work and I simply advised her to pay the technician the money and tell him to hit the road. The technician told my wife at the time that he went out of his way to come to our house that day and was mad that he made the effort to come and write up an estimate. He clearly wasn't brought into the loop as we were scheduled for an 8am appointment that was pushed back to noon and then again to 2:30. We clearly were the ones that had gone out of the way for the company. Shortly after he left I received a call from the owner who promised to remove the $89 charge from my card. Which never happened! Thus the reason for the review. He apologized for all the cancellations and the behavior of the tech. It was the best $89 I have spent. I was so glad I told her to send him packing. I was able to do the work myself at a fraction of the cost. If you are considering hiring GreenBox for anything I would advise you to run for the hills from this company.
please dont use this business.... I called and they came out for routine repair and declared I needed a new system to replace my 8 year old system for 12,000 . After other professional inputs, the part that needed fixing occurred for 280 . no troubles since . I called the owner and ops manager multiple time. service awful and dishonest
Matt D.I really wanted to give GreenBox a solid 4-star review because I've had two good-ish experiences with them before. Both times the technician was very gracious and prompt, explaining everything to me, and charging me what seems like fair prices.
However I've just had a difficult experience with them and doubt that I will use them again. On a routine inspection to check my HVAC system, the technician found water in my crawlspace. He scheduled another technician to come out the next day. The second technician came to the door, said hello to my wife, then went to the crawlspace. My wife did not hear from him again. I called the company later that day to ask and they were not able to find the technician. I called again the following day and they still could not track down the technician.
After my third call they were able to track down the technician and I asked them to have him call me with haste so that I could understand the situation in my crawlspace.
One week went by with still no call from the technician. I called GreenBox again and asked for it the estimate to fix my crawlspace. Still nothing. But after a fifth call, still trying to be reasonable and use this company that has given me two good service calls, the receptionist was finally able to track down the technician who unfortunately wasn't able to talk at the time. I left my phone number and said please have him call me the same day. He did not call, but sent an email the following morning with a high cost estimate and no explanation for why the price was that high or that specific work was to be done. I sent some inquiries back and at this point have still not heard back from him (next business day).
My frustration is that I expect clear communication and explanation on matters like this.
I'm now going with another company because of this poor customer service interaction.
Lexie G.Great customer service. I've worked with Green Box on two separate issues and both times have been pleased. The 1st experience - the blower in my heating unit went out during Thanksgiving 2013 around the time it was blistering cold. Thinking no one would help during the holidays, I had a friend recommend Green Box. They were at my doorstep in no time and fixed the problem. The older gentleman was excellent, informative, and did the job right away. He had to make a few trips to get the right unit installed, but I had heat back in less than 2 hours and couldn't thank him (and Green Box) enough. The 2nd experience - just this month I had some issues with an attic fan. I called Green Box right away and had someone come out. Unfortunately the problem couldn't be solved, and they mistakenly billed me for a diagnostic ($89.00). Robert was the tech who arrived and told me he wouldn't bill me because nothing was diagnosed and he wasn't the right person for the job. I called Green Box and explained the situation, and they immediately removed the charge and assured no action was needed on my part. Clarissa was the staff member who helped me through that - very friendly and responsive. Overall, Green Box is very customer oriented and will make sure you're treated fairly. Their pricing may seem high, but it's the experience and speedy efficiency they provide that make up the difference. Some people will opt to go out and try to fix things themselves, but I'm not one to mess with heavy duty equipment and risk making things worse. I choose to let someone with more skill do that. I feel I've save money, liability, and headache in the long run.
Neal H.Worst possible experience. Rude and unprofessional staff answering the phone. Overpriced and not up front with cost structure. We knew our a/c unit was simply low on freon, this happens every year. What normally costs us around $115 with Christopher & Smith cost over $200 today. We will never use them again nor will we ever recommend them again. There's a reason GreenBox could come out on such short notice and why Christopher & Smith was booked.
