Kim T.Let me tell you about Gore Heating and Air . . .
If you want a cheap unit installed to last you two years and die, they're NOT the folks to call.
If you want something ""rigged up"" to keep you going another year, they're NOT the folks to call.
If you want something for nothing, they're NOT the folks to call.

If you need new duct work that will properly distribute air in your home and last a long time, they ARE the folks to call.
If you want a competitive quote for a quality replacement unit installed, they ARE the folks to call.
If you want good service from friendly folks, they ARE the folks to call.
Gore installed new duct work in our home after another company ripped us off (as suggested by a handyman and then verified when City inspector came out). This was 10 years ago. Never had an issue since. So when our entire central heat/AC went dead, we gave Gore (and 2 other companies) a call and received a quote.
Gore was the middle quote, but we felt best about them as they answered all my questions and explained, with patience, the pros and cons of each option.
We have now had the unit one year. I've called them three times since with an issue. First time, someone was out within 24 hours and it was something stupid I was doing. Second time was when gas ran out (my fault) and it was frigid! They quickly walked me through steps for AUX heat temp change in settings. Third time, last week and they're sending someone to check on unit noise next time they have someone in area. Now who does that?! What company will work with you to save you money on a service call?
After spending thousands of dollars with a company, it's refreshing to be treated with good service after the purchase.
I too should have read reviews prior to calling them. My air handler stopped working, called them on a Monday morning, repairman didn't arrive until 5:00pm. He didn't have the part on his truck. Had to be ordered. Fast forward two days and I had to call them as to the status of the part, was informed that they wont order W/O 50% payment. Paid, scheduled Friday, was called on Friday, they cancelled my appointment for that day, next on Monday, was called again the received the wrong part, Tuesday is the day. It just got fixed. The company has terrible communication skills, they obviously did not have the part on Friday or check to see that it is correct. Leadership does not set priorities, my repair took 15 minutes to fix, repairman didn't arrive until after 4 pm, although courteous and efficient (repair took Ten minutes), wasted a day off to wait. No consideration for their (Now One Time) customers. Wish I could give them half a star.
Laetitia J.We should have read some reviews before hiring them. Awful craftsmanship, ridiculously slow when fixing their mess, the wrong unit was installed, then after finally installing the second and right one, the unit leaked all over resulting a damaged ceiling less than 10 weeks after installation. Save yourself time, money and headache, go somewhere else. Better business bureau is next.
Ann R.Today Daniel Hughes, from Gore Heating & A/C did a semi-annual maintenance service on my heater. It was not giving me any trouble at all before he arrived and this was just a scheduled checkup. When he left the house temp had dropped 4 degrees. I thought that the unit having been off for a little while on such a cold day (20+ degrees) it need some time to get back to normal. Hours later it had only risen 1/one degree and was still 3 degrees below the setting. By the time two other techs arrived it had risen 1/one more degree but it still wasn't right. After a bit of work they said they found a wire loose/off (I'm not sure which) that the first tech was responsible for. Immediately after they left the temp was fully back to normal!
I knew when Mr. Hughes left he had received a phone call about a family emergency. He had stayed about 15 minutes after that call, so I don't feel that was a good excuse for the problem his work caused. Of course his mind was probably elsewhere but he had a responsibility to completing the job correctly.
I am grateful that Gore Heating and A/C, who installed the unit and I have used for over 10 years, sent techs out within an hour of my request for a second visit. This review is being done at the request of a text message I received from Gore.
Heath D.These people are garbage! I called to see how much they charge to come see what is wrong with my gas fireplace and why it won't light. They tell me it is $70 for them to come out. Between that charge and their Google reviews I decided to give them a try (another company I called was $75 to come out). The technician gets out here and literally does not know the first thing about a gas fireplace. He calls someone, they give him something to try. He tried that, calls back, gets another step to try. This was the entire process. Then he tells me they will have to replace the entire unit. To top it off, he gives me a bill for almost $160!!!! I talk with their manager, who supposedly talked with the owner, they refused to make either the bill right and stand behind their $70 price they quoted me or offer to send another technician who may actually be qualified to work on these units. These people suck. I'll go without a fireplace before giving these incompetent thieves another penny.
UPDATE: 11/12 they've had a few employees post reviews now just after mine in an attempt to give them a better image. How about you be honest on your prices and provide competent service...maybe THAT would give you legit better reviews.
for anyone wanting work done on your fireplace, call someone else.. the guy took one look at my fireplace and said I had to get a bigger tank and he wasn't going to touch it until I did. So to try to save the trip and my money. I asked him to take a look at my heating system to make sure it is running okay. He climbed my ladder to the attic poked his head up and said, yeah it looks ok.. all he did was look... So now I have to pay this dude that refused to touch my fireplace and didn't even glance at my heating system. It cost me $75 for him to climb halfway up a ladder.. please do yourself a favor and call anyone else but Gore heating
They came out and fixed my a/c. No longer have cooling issues. The service personnel have always been professional when at my home.
Kristen M.During one of the hottest times of the year I came home from work and it was 88 degrees in my house! Gore Heating & Air was able to squeeze me into their very busy schedule the very next morning and took care of the problem. So thankful they were able to help me!! They did a GREAT job!!
Warning: Rip off and poor customer service!!!!! Gore Heating & Air-Do not do business with them! Called for them to service my fireplace: 24 mins worth of work $181.17 to blow off the logs w/ nitrogen. This was after I was told the at the point of making the appointment that the call would be $70 service call and additional for any parts. NO PARTS, 24 mins of work and a bill for $181. Talked w/ owner of business who was extremely rude (Harvey Gore) stated if I didn't want to pay the bill he would turn me over to collections. Also told me that ""he may have made out ahead on this one (me), but he may loose on the next one"". I have never been spoken to in such a manner. Then proceeded to tell me, ""We'll, at least I'm not charging you for the guy he's training!"" Do not do business with these people... they will mislead and treat you as if they have no concern for you return business. Mr. Gore was rude, treated me as if I was a child w/ no common sense. Worst customer experience I've had...
Aaron M.Extremely unsatisfied from the very start!
Summary:
1. Intentionally lied to me and my home warranty
2. Tried to trick me out of an additional $1800
3. Charged me for equipment and services they did not perform
4. Left my carpet permanently damaged
My Furnace went out and the original service provider that came out told me to tell my home warranty company to get another service provider as they would not be able to install for several weeks so I ended up using Gore Heating & Air.
From the start the tech that came out gave his recommendation about what I would need due to it being an old house. I told him that I'm not looking to pay for all this stuff and I just want the furnace replaced since the home warranty will pay for it. This tech intentionally lied to me and the home warranty with their quote saying that Lafayette code will require me to pay $1800 out of pocket to replace all my duct-work since its not covered by the home warranty. I got second opinions and found this not to be true.
At this point in time i could not use another service provider as the home warranty has received their quote and I'm locked in to using them. I have to call and tell them that I'm not paying this additional charge if I don't have to and they make me wait a day for a call back and tried to give me a run around until I had to tell them, ""Its not up to me to prove to you its not in the code, its up to you to prove me that it is"" and they made me wait another day and finally agreed that I didn't have to pay this.
I believe this caused an issue with them because I confirmed when the new equipment from the home warranty company arrived and they still took 2 weeks until they finally came out to install it and still had to return the next day to finish.
They charged me $45 for a CO detector, which I already have 2 installed in the house, THAT THEY DIDNT EVEN INSTALL
They charged me $275 for a ""sheet metal/Split system Modification"" which doesn't make any since and I see no evidence of it in my maintenance closet.
And on top of all that the techs, which were good techs and took every precaution to not mess up my carpet have permanently damaged it beyond repair!!!! after vacuuming and steam cleaning it will have to be replaced!!!
Terrible liars just out for your money. poor service and terrible ethics!
