I received funding for floor repairs and tile install for my sons since he has some special needs. ($3500) I originally hired someone else who I ended up firing because they were stealing materials. I was left with $1750 and only most of my materials and no work completed. Rowan from Good Heart Services came In and said he would be willing to do the job because it was for my son. Unfortunately not all the repairs we were going to be able to get done due to the now significantly smaller budget. He had a subcontractor do the work. There were a couple concerns here and there that Rowan was happy to resolve. He was very friendly and the project ended up taking a week instead of about 3 days, which I had no problem with. 2 months after the work was completed I was having an issue with a leaky toilet and even though it was Christmas time he came out as soon as possible to fix it for us! Very appreciative. The work was completed to the best it could considering the subflooring was unable to be completely replaced as originally planned. I am very happy with the service I received and would definitely use this company again.

These guys began demo without being licensed, pulling permits, or carrying insurance. I fired them immediately and recovering funds has been a nightmare. Now I have to go back and do all their work. How they can begin a project and expose a homeowner to all sorts of repercussions by the state is beyond me.

Be alarmed by the cheap bids. They're cheap because they don't follow the laws. The homeowner is liable for proper asbestos disposal / cleanup, fines, a potential lien on your property, and god forbid someone get hurt on the job.

A quick trip to your city's building division will verify the legitimacy of any contractor. I encourage this due diligence.
