As a DIY guy around my house, I am very hesitant to call any contractors to ever do any work in my house, but sometimes an expert is required to complete a job and Bob at Goode Plumbing is a quintessential plumbing expert. He helped me troubleshoot a water pressure issue over three separate visits, and the overall invoice was very reasonable and the quality of the work was top notch. They also helped me with buying my own equipment and materials at Community Home Supply and didn't give me any guff about wanting to work on my terms and buying my own materials. Contractors like them are increasingly rare and would recommend them to anyone.

I called Goode Plumbing and explained the plumbing problems I was having, and they informed me that someone would contact me shortly to schedule a time to come over for an estimate. Mike Goode, the owner, called me within 15 minutes, and scheduled an appointment to come by early the next morning to accomodate my schedule. Mike showed up at 7:30am the next morning as scheduled and quickly assessed the issues, low water pressure in the kitchen and leaking sink in the bathroom. He then gave me a reasonable quote, fixed the leaking bathroom sink on the spot, and scheduled an appointment for someone to come back and fix the water pressure problem. The plumber who came back to fix the water pressure problem was not able to fix it to his satisfaction, so he had Mike come back (at no extra charge) and help fix it himself. They were very professional and courteous the entire time. Highly recommended.

A Goode experience.

I worked with Bob on their team to help resolve some plumbing issues in our upstairs tub. He was very nice, respectful and knowledgable about the task he was assigned. I was very happy with the final result and would recommend them again to anyone in need of plumbing repair, or new installation.

I had a good experience with Goode. I found them on Angie's List and called to get an estimate to run a new water line through an outside wall and install a spigot so I would be able to easily water my new garden. I got voice mail when I called, but received a return phone call very quickly and had someone out to look at the job within a few days. The technician who arrived was knowledgable and friendly. He gave us a written estimate the same day. I called the next day to schedule the work. About a week later the same technician came back and performed the work. During the course of things he discovered that we were missing a cutout to be able to drain the main water line. This is a huge pain for anyone having to do work near the main and would likely be an issue during kitchen renovations. I decided to have one installed, which he was able to incorporate into the job without extending the number of days. The rest of the job was uneventful and I now have a water source on my patio. I would definitely call Goode again.

We live in a 6 unit condo building - and our hot water tank died recently. It was about 15-20 years old. Mike Goode suggested a smaller energy efficient model for us - there was even a rebate on this type of tank, saving us another $1000. His price was lower than 2 other estimates we got - and the work was done quickly and efficiently. A few months later, there was a glitch in the heating - Goode plumbing came right out and changed a part out - and it has been fine ever since.

Called Goode Plumbing after reading the predominantly positive reviews from another review ""List."" Spoke with Mike Goode, the owner of the business who also seems like a nice guy and was very accomodating.

Had three tasks that needed to be done: change a kitchen sink fixture, water heater maintenance, fix a leaky shower head. Estimate was $695. Kind of expensive but time off from work is scarce, so I'll pay a premium if the job can be done well the first time around. John, his assistant, came and completed all the work in a couple of hours. After he was done, I noticed that the shower head was still leaking. He said that it would stop in several minutes and left. Later that day, I noticed that the shower head was still leaking. I called Mike Goode who said that the replacement part they used may have been defective. Kind of annoying, but it happens.

John came back replaced the part and the leak stopped. As part of the repair process, he manipulated the main cold water shut off valve to the whole house. Later that evening, I noticed that the main valve had developed a slow leak. I immedately called Mike Goode who offered to come look at it at midnight. The leak wasn't that bad so I said that it could wait til the morning. That morning, Mike came, examined the valve, tightened the packing nut a little bit and applied sealing compound. He said that if that didn't work, he would have to replace the whole valve which would be a major project. Understandably, he didn't seem that enthusiastic about the prospect of replacing the whole main valve.

Well, the valve continued to leak. We even waited for 5 days to see if the leak would at least slow down. It didn't. So, we decided to call a bigger, more established plumbing company who does jobs for Lakeshore Fitness, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, etc - Fettes, Love, and Sieben. They came right away. The plumber was very nice and examined the valve throroughly. He said that the packing nut was really loose, tightened it a few turns and the leak stopped. He also said that sealing compound that was used earlier wouldn't work with the type of valve we had. We're just glad that we didn't have to undergo a major valve replacement.

Bottom Line: Mike Goode seems like a really nice guy trying to do good work, but the next time I need a plumber, I'm calling the guys at Fettes, Love, and Sieben.

We have a Toto Neorest toilet with a leaky wax floor seal and building maintenance would not touch it. I found Mike Goode on Yelp, arranged an appointment and he came on time as scheduled. He is extremely polite, pleasant and competent; not all plumbers can work effectively on the specialized Japanese toilets. He inspired such confidence that when I had to leave before he was finished I left him a blank check to complete. The amount ($350) was a little higher than I would have guessed but we are in a high rise, the toilet is complicated and you get what you pay for. I will certainly call him again if the need arises. I found Goode Plumbing on Angie's List and was very impressed with the reviews and the responses from Mike to show appreciation and to help if a customer wasn't fully satisfied. I was fully satisfied with the work that was done.

Mike was prompt and professional. The quality of the work was wonderful. I had a hot water heater and some other small misc. plumbing repairs done and they were taken care of promptly and completed to my high standards. It's clear that Mike takes a lot of pride in the work he does and wants to make sure that everything is done with top quality in mind.

I would hire Mike Goode for any of my future plumbing needs and I'm hard to impress. I chose Goode Plumbing after being disappointed by another plumber that was too busy trying to sell me warranty upgrades before I even agreed to any work. Goode Plumbing stands behind the work they do.
